Canowindra is a beautiful B&B sitting just on the outskirts of Portree. A great place to stay and enjoy all that this stunning little island of Skye, in the Scottish Highlands, has to offer. All are very welcome.

We stayed at Canowindra for two nights last month and we were really impressed with the property and service. Our room, the breakfast room and common areas were decorated to a very high standard by someone with very good taste. Our bathroom had both a walk in shower with a rainfall shower head and a traditional roll top bath. The bedroom had a super king bed with very comfy mattress and pillows. Due to Covid-19 you choose your breakfast the day before. There is a large range of items available including smoked salmon with scrambled egg or french toast with bacon and maple syrup as well as the traditional cooked breakfast and continental items. Georgie checked us in and serviced us breakfast each morning, she was very welcoming and professional. Everything at the property has been well thought out and a lot of attention had been paid to the small details such as the nice toiletries in the bathroom and nice biscuits with the tea and coffee. We would highly recommend Canowindra to couples wanting to stay somewhere relaxing and comfortable.

Quiet location with a nice view of Ben Tianavaig from the window, and only a 5 minute drive to the main town of Portree which is handy. Georgie was a most welcoming host. Breakfast was delicious with a good number of options. Rooms and decor were exceptional, much to our tastes, with large, modern bathrooms and rainfall showers. Had a nice homely atmosphere about the place which was nice to come back to after a day's hillwalking or touring.

This was our first visit to Skye and this was a super base - Georgie was an excellent hostess, with a lovely breakfast in stunning surroundings and local recommendations offered when needed. The room was stunning with a walk-in shower and free-standing bath after a long day walking and a comfy king sized bed. Highly recommend.

We ended up staying at this B&B due to our first hotel in Skye being a disappointment and I’m so glad we did! The room had a boutique feeling with beautiful quality furniture and textiles. I feel some BnB’s can have an awkward feeling of ‘sleeping in someone else’s house’ but this was not the case at Canowindra- it felt like a fancy hotel. The room had nice little touches such as cookies and high end toiletries. Please also note all rooms at this BnB have baths! Good location as short drive/taxi ride can get you to Portree pubs and restaurants. You can book places reasonably cheap in Skye but we regretted doing this and wish we had spent the extra penny for somewhere as nice as here for our full trip. We would definitely come back here! From the moment we arrived till the moment we left, it was simply perfect. Greeted by Georgie when we arrived, it was like seeing an old friend we’d known forever, so friendly and so welcoming. Our room was spotless, warm and so so comfortable. Bathroom with the roll top bath and rainfall shower was just delightful. Breakfast was piping hot, fresh and delicious with an equally fresh selection of fruit, yoghurts and cereals. Will not hesitate to rebook should we head back to skye as it’s in the perfect location. Thank you Georgie, such a delight.
