What a find! We only stayed here one night on our walking holiday on Skye. What a crying shame. It is wonderful. Sconcer Lodge was built as a Victorian hunting lodge and has a traditional country house atmosphere. It is like stepping back in time, to an age when the privileged few were pampered in an atmosphere of incredible Scottish hospitality during their brief trip to the Highlands and Islands.
The Lodge is run by Lisa and Craig McMath. Craig is also the chef, and a terrific one too. The building features original pine panelling and open fires where they burn peat and logs. It is right on the sea shore with its own jetty and mooring. The views from the rooms are marvellous and, if you want to give yourself a treat, go outside at night and look at the sky. With no light pollution you will see more stars than you have ever seen before. Our room was a marvellous. The bed was comfortable and here was quality bedding. It was a joy to find ourselves in such a cosy traditional environment. The views of the loch were magnificent. There is wildlife too. We saw an otter bring in a fish from the loch, and eat it on the rocks, and 11 Atlantic grey seals, when we walked along the opposite shore line. We saw a Great Skua and a Black Guillimot from the lounge.
The food is to die for. The focus is on local produce: hand dived Sconser scallops , Loch Eishort mussels, Skye venison and Highland cross Shortcross Aberdeen Angus beef. I was delighted to find they had halibut on the menu. The dining room is quite beautiful. The bar has draught lager and Isle of Skye real ale and a range of fine malt whiskies, of which we tried a few. The bar is wonderful place to relax. Breakfast was marvellous too.
If only there were more places like this.

From the moment we arrived at Sconser Lodge, we felt as if we had come home! We received a wonderful welcome before being shown to our room which had a side view over the sound of Raasay

For dinner you go through to the bar where you sit comfortably looking over the water while you choose from the menu and are then Invited through to your table.

The quality of cooking was absolutely exceptional for dinner and for breakfast truly amazing.

There is a very nice area outside where you can sit on the wooden furniture and enjoy looking over the water, looking out for sea birds and marine life and watching the ferry go back and forth to Raasay .

Sconser is also very well situated for getting around the Isle of Skye and also on and off the mainland.

We arrived on the Malaig to Armadale ferry and then returned on the wonderful turntable ferry to Kyleakin

Would highly recommend the south of Skye and exploring the Ord Peninsula.

I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it although you do have to claim a flight of stairs to access the bedrooms.

We've just returned frim soending 3 nights at this gem of a hotel. Family run by Lisa and husband Craig.
The hotel is a beautiful period building set right on the side of the sea with cracking views.
Lisa greeted us on arrival showing us around and explaining all the current covid guidance.
We were shown to our room, Piencharon which boasted amazing views of the sea and Raasay.
The room was well appointed with every need catered for. The bed was large and very comfortable. Theres even a pair of binoculars which proved useful for viewing the wildlife. We saw Grey Herons, Seals and even Sea Otters.
We had booked B&B but ended up eating there every evening as well.
Breajfast choice was good, I particularly enjoyed the smoked haddick and poached egg whilst the other half preferred the traditional Scottish breakfast, whatever we had set us up for the day. For dinner the menu depended upon whatever Chef Craig had to cook but we were treated to an array of fresh and beautifully presented seafood all at reasonable prices. There was always something for meat eaters and vegitarians on the menu.
The well stocked bar is ably ryn by Nori and John who also double as waiters
All in all a fantastic stay and we would return in a heartbeat.

Sconser Lodge family-run guesthouse was a lovely spot to stay for a few nights as we traveled around Skye. The staff was especially friendly, and the dining room has wonderful panoramic views of the water. We ended up eating at the lodge both nights we stayed for the view and because the food and service were so enjoyable! The location is out of town but right off the main road, so you can feel secluded while still having easy access to the main features of Skye. Portree was about a 20 minute drive away if you want some town life. There was also a ferry to a nearby island very near the lodge, though we didn't get a chance to try this. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay.

This was a fantastic little hotel on the edge of a loch. Family run business with a bar. The rooms were very clean, tea and coffee, iron and hair dryer provided. You had access to bar anytime if day. Bar open until 11.00pm. Great view of loch. Outside seating was also available as was parking. Full cooked breakfast but with a fantastic choice of cereals and yogurts. The hotel also had a great evening dinner menu and the food was beautifully cooked! We stayed here for two nights. We were three adults in one room but at no stage did we feel cramped. Very family friendly. We would definitely come here again!

Stayed for 2 nights in the family suite. Overall can't commend it highly enough. Travelling with 2 young children it is hard to find accommodation that works well, but this was ideal. The suite comprises a twin bedroom and a double bedroom, both en suite. Both reasonably sized rooms which were well presented and clean. Most impressive of all though was the very warm welcome and hospitality. The food (breakfast and dinner) was excellent. Tasty local produce and they were very accommodating of the needs and preferences of your children. The view from the front of the hotel is spectacular and there are a couple of pieces of play equipment next to the car park which our boys enjoyed. Wouldn't hesitiate to stay again.

I didnt sleep there, but me and a buddy cycled the Hebrides and Skye and came past this Hotel on our last day. We ran out of Water and had to stop. Luckily when we asked a very nice Lady let us refill our three 1-litre-bottles on their tap. Very grateful for the help and the nice lil chat after. Would recommend just on the basis of this experience!

The building is typical of a movie. On the outside it impresses and on the inside it leaves you speechless. There are 8 suite-type rooms where the old is respected but without neglecting it and with excellent conservation. For me, of the different accommodations I stayed in in Scotland, it is the best without a doubt. Its owners are exceptional and very polite, making the stay very pleasant. I would return without hesitation since, in addition, compared to other hotels or houses I stayed in in Scotland, they are very far away in terms of quality-price ratio. Very fan of this incredible hotel.

Sconser Lodge is quiet, along a beautiful inlet, old and quaint. Service was outstanding. In suite bath convenient.

The owner chef is outstanding. In our 2 week UK trip, food here was THE BEST. Dining room overlooked the inlet of water and beach--beautiful. Gourmet extremely fresh scallops and fish, fresh vegetables, and to die for sticky toffee pudding. The waiter gave us excellent suggestions for sites and we did everything he said. Had a wonderful time on Skye.

Hi Leslie, When I booked it took a while for responses to be received by email, it certainly wasn't instant; however, don't let this put you off - it isn't a huge hotel with loads of staff. In fact Norrie seems to do everything except the cooking. Fabulous place and I'm looking forward to staying again sometime.
