With its stunning location sat on the hill above Uig bay, 5 minutes from the Ferry Port, the Hotel makes a perfect base for exploring North Skye before heading off to the Outer Hebrides, the Highlands and beyond. The Fairy Glen can be found in the hills just behind the Hotel while the Quiraing, Kilt Rock and the Old Man of Stor are an easy drive around the peninsula. The scenery is spectacular and has provided the backdrop for many films including Stardust, Macbeth, Prometheus and most recently Spielberg’s BFG. The village of Uig is home to Uig Pottery and the Isle of Skye Brewery, both of which have shops on site. The Uig Hotel is an old coaching Inn dating back to 1831. Its owned and run by Billy and Anne Harley, joined by a friendly team including dogs Ziggy and Rosie! The Hotel has 11 warm and comfortable bedrooms, many with sea views, while our sister site Uig Lodge has a further 8 all with views of the bay. The Hotel is pet friendly; dogs are welcome in our rooms and bar area.

The Uig Hotel is very cozy and friendly and we were pleased to see that they have survived the covid pandemic and still offer a warm welcome to their guests. We stayed in one of the lodge rooms behind the main building and had amazing views of the bay. The room was very spacious but the bed was a little small - there is certainly plenty of space to put in a super king sized bed so why not do that? The bathroom was a little basic but had a great heated towel rail for drying off wet clothes after a day out. The food at the Uig Hotel is excellent. They have changed chef since our last visit and the standard, quality and presentation of the food has all improved enormously and it was already great 3 years ago. The only thing that would have improved the food would have been a daily special since we stayed for a longer time. This hotel is also dog friendly which was great for us and the only place where Loki couldn’t go was the dining room but if we had wanted to eat in the bar he was welcome there. We hope to visit again one day.

We have just returned from a great 2 night stay at the Uig hotel. We stayed in the lodge rooms, which are just behind the main hotel building up a short hill. This might be a problem for people with mobility problems, but you can drive your car up to the doors to unload, and then park halfway up, so its not too bad. Rooms were very tastefully decorated, fresh & clean, with walk in showers. Tea & coffee making were supplied, and there was seats & benches just outside the doors for summer al fresco views. Main hotel was to a similar high standard, with rooms for lunch/dinner in the bar, and separate breakfast room, both with great views of the bay. Food was exellent, all freshly made & piping hot. The bar was stocked with a great range of drinks, with the local Skye brewery well supported. All the staff were very friendly & efficient, and a special shout out to Callum, a great asset to the hotel. We will definately be back.

Our room was in the main hotel. It was a very nice room with a great view of the harbor. We ate in the restaurant for dinner one night. The venison dish was truly amazing. Great gluten free options on the menu, including seafood chowder soup, which is a treat to anyone with celiac disease. The breakfast each morning was good too. Plenty of options. Take away breakfast was an option for an early departure or hike. Reservations are required for dinner and breakfast times. Parking is on site and free. The location is a good bit outside of Portree, but quiet and more relaxing in Uig. It was a great home base for a couple days in Skye. The hotel’s plumbing was our only complaint. The toilet required 3-4 attempts to flush with water.

We'd spent three stuffy nylon knee and elbow polishing sheeted nights elsewhere so finding that we'd booked this gem of a place by pure luck was sucha welcome relief. Parking and checkin was a breeze, the staff were excellent, location is ...well like the rest of skye...stunning. Nice touches like little guide leaflets to local spots such as fairy glen. Twin room in lodge behind main hotel was just right and unlike previous hot box it included a fan if we'd needed it. Simple honest but quality. The restaurant was another bit of luck, and matched the hotel for quality. Best mussels Z ever tasted. If you have travelled and know what good looks like at this price and location then you'll be pleasantly surprised. Absolute pleasure.

Don’t be put off by the rather uninviting and hospital-like signage outside the hotel. It belies a lovely hotel with very comfortable rooms, an excellent restaurant and stunning views. Like so much in the Western Isles, it isn’t cheap at £199 a night B&B but staff make every effort to please and the breakfast was the best on the trip.

I’ve already raved about the beautiful food in the restaurant so now onto the hotel. Sea view perfect as are most views on the island, but I had to point out that from my window you can actually see the sea. cleanliness exceptional, I can say this as I dropped something at the back of a cupboard which when I moved it to retrieve item not a speck of dust. Bed was so comfy I didn’t want to get up. Facilities spot on. I was in a single room with the largest single bed ever. Room was spacious nicely decorated simple and classy, ample storage space for clothes etc. The compact bathroom was spotless with a great shower plenty of room to move (easily fit two large people in.) I am on the large size width ways anyway so shower was perfect. Had waterfall shower head as well as ordinary shower head. So suits for everyone, I do love a bath however waterfall shower next best thing. (I was made aware that there was no bath in this particular room before arrival) All The staff were brilliant welcoming friendly helpful, from the ladies making up the rooms to the reception, bar and restaurant staff a special thank you to Helen on reception who went above & beyond. Food excellent (see separate review on restaurant) The staff, Noel, restaurant are not only a credit to the village but to the entire island.

The location and room were both stunning, with views out over the bay. Lovely amd quiet at night, with an orthapedic mattress, for a great nights sleep.
Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy, with fluffy towels and a bathroom with all mod cons. There was a comfy chair to watch the flat screen and enjoy a cup of tea and shortbread in the room which I found very pleasant whilst enjoying the views.
The decor was fresh and light and airy and the staff were welcoming. They seemed to genuinely love their jobs and nothing was too much bother.
Full of praise for the meals in the restaurant, which were varied and delicious, as was breakfast. Our group had no complaints.

Stayed here due to having an early ferry booked the next morning, it was one of the more expensive of our hotels but we were not disappointed. Originally we were meant to have our dog with us and from seeing how many people had their furry pals with them, it was clear she would have been very welcome. Our room was spacious, lovely with a great view. Food was fab, we followed recommendations of the lady who served us who was very helpful and attentive both for our evening meal and breakfast. Great hotel, staff and food.

This is a fantastic place to stay - and unusually they have quite a few singles which is perfect for a solo traveller. Rooms are always in very nice order and the food is great in the Bar & Restaurant. Staff as usual are excellent. Hotel has great parking and is an excellent location for those travelling on the Uig CalMac ferry.

An above average hotel set in a very picturesque location with views of Uig Harbour and very convenient for catching the ferry to the Outer Hebrides, Lockmaddy in our case. Dinner was of fish and chips was excellent. The hotel is obviously geared up for residents having to leave early in the mornings to catch the ferry. We forewarned the staff that this was the case and a full Scottish breakfast, that was delicious, was served promptly. Would stay again if going to the Outer Hebrides.
