The Kirklea Island Suites are beautiful apartments over looking the bay at Tarbert. They have everything that you would need for for enjoyable stay on the island and are very tastefully decorated and are very spacious. We chose this hotel as a mini honeymoon and the hotel did provide some nice treats on our arrival which we appreciated.
Unfortunately on arrival we did spot a sign at reception stating that due the construction works at the pier there many be some noise throughout the day. This was a bit disappointing as we had not been informed of this beforehand but we thought it can’t be that bad, oh how wrong we were. Early every morning they are literally chiselling through rock, which makes it impossible to sleep, this carries on for a few hours then stops, basically once they have made sure everyone in the town is awake! I have no idea how the residents in the hotel which is closer must have felt. I fully understand that this is not the hotels fault but we should have been informed about this before hand as this has really taken away from our enjoyment of the week.
Overall I would have given the Kirklea Suites 5 stars but until the pier work is completed I unfortunately can only give it 4 stars due to location.

We treated ourself to a night in the suite as we have been full on touring Scotland and have an early ferry back to Skye tomorrow morning so wanted to have some time and space to chill for the afternoon and evening . We are not disappointed, it more than lives up to expectations , stylish , light and spacious with an outdoor terrace with table and chairs . Nespresso machine , milk and a few little goodies in fridge with a fully equipped kitchen, huge roll top bath and separate double shower , I could go on , nothing to fault - just what we wanted snd worth the money

We stayed here for 5 nights, using it as a base to tour the Outer Hebrides. Tarbert is well-placed to do so, and we covered most of Lewis and Harris, as well as a visit by ferry to the Uists and Benbecula.
The accommodation was excellent- extremely clean and luxurious facilities. Everything in it was of high quality. We were not always able to have dinner in the hotel, largely because we didn’t book early enough each day, but there are other very good options available in Tarbert and, of course, the suite itself had excellent self-catering facilities. Breakfast in the hotel was delicious!
I would highly recommend this place if you want something a bit special.

The decor is lovely and you receive all the usual luxury touches of somewhere 5* - giant bath, coffee machine, thick towels.
There were a number of things we were pretty disappointed with, however. We noticed straight away that it wasn't super clean. There were crumbs under the coffee table that hadn't been swept, a bit of mould around the shower tray, dead bug on the floor and a stained oven. We had problems with the shower and a bulb was out in one of the lights. Not what you'd expect from a 5* stay.
The good bits were the comfy bed, decor and good food in the Hotel Hebrides. And of course the island itself! I was astounded and the beaches were mindblowing. I will definitely be back to the Hebrides! Take the thickest jacket you can because it's also freezing up there!
It's a handy location next to the ferry terminal (but that also means you do hear the ferry come and go which can be noisy in the mornings)..

We stayed in one of the suites for 1 night last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The suite itself is beautifully decorated, spacious and homely. The bathroom was very clean, much larger than we expected & had all the added extras you would need. The bath tub was huge! The location is great; ideal for the ferry & close to the main town. The only gripe we had was that the room was a little tatty in areas and could do with some TLC - some wallpaper was loose, bits of plasterwork haven’t been painted over & some grouting needed in the bathroom as some of the tiles were loose. Apart from that, the stay was great and we would definitely come back.

My family and I stayed here for 3-nights for our first trip to Harris. The Suites were absolutley perfect. From being so well located (literally a minutes drive from the ferry) to a home from home. You are then within walking distance to the hotel and for other restaurants and food vans for different eating out options. From the welcome gifts prvided in the fridge to having washing machine tablets fully stocked, they have thought of everything to ensure you have a great base to explore this beautiful island. I would happily return and recommend to anyone visiting.

Very stylish suites extremely close to the ferry. Well designed with particularly beautiful bathroom with a large bath. Lovely Hebridean Soap company toiletries. Great coffee machine. Whole apartment very clean.
Mattress a little too firm for my liking and I would have preferred a king bed instead of linked beds were you can feel the join.
A guest booklet/information would have been very useful. We had no idea about bins, check-out time/procedure, contact numbers if there was any issues etc. It would also have been useful to have had priority booking opportunities as hotel guests in the hotel restaurant. We had great difficulty finding places to eat during our stay, I understand Covid making things difficult but some local information would have been useful.
We would stay again as the suites were a great base for exploring this beautiful island.

We really liked it here. Basically it is its own row house, fully equipped, very stylish. The bathroom has a large free bath and a great shower. I really liked the smell in the bathroom. Living room, fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms. Beds were very comfortable,
The dryer had not worked, but was solved directly by the hotel - thank you! Small criticism are the pans, which should definitely be renewed. What was very nice was also the greeting in the fridge :)

Beautifully appointed apartment overlooking the ferry terminal in Tarbert. Has everything you might need and a massive bath with plenty of hot water.
One thing to note are the steep stairs to the bedrooms and only one handrail. Tricky if you have mobility issues and the bathroom is downstairs. Such helpful staff at the Hotel Hebrides too and a delicious breakfast.

Unfortunately by design they are all upstairs.
"It's a little more pricey than mid-range, however, if you are traveling by way of ferry, it simply doesn't get more convenient that this."Read full review
