Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Didn't stay at hotel, but ate in bar area. Quite quiet and seemed over kill to have 3 bar/waiting staff who seemed to have little to do. Quite loud pop music playing which didn't seem fitting. Food OK but burger over cooked and greasy fish but the chips were good 👍 There was no atmosphere and agree with a previous review that the drinks are really expensive. Nearly £11 for 2 pints of cloudy Deuchars beer! And there were sold out of most of the other beers. I asked what one of them was like as I hadn't had it before, but was told they didn't know..... it would have been nice to have been offered a taste? Shame there aren't other pubs or places to eat and drink in the evenings here as they could do with some competition.

We stayed here for one night and found the room to be of an excellent standard. The food in restaurant for dinner was great (a step up from ‘pub’ type food), and the bar was lively for an after dinner drink. Breakfast was also served in the restaurant and was also very good. Staff were friendly, would happily have stayed here longer!

Modern, clean hotel with a bistro & bar serving food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food in bistro to a high standard and reasonably priced & varied menu. Handy for the ferry & sightseeing Harris and Lewis. Rooms are on the expensive side however.

Convenient for ferry port. Very small high-fenced outside space. Dog friendly in bar area. Friendly bar staff. One lager and one (large) white wine cost £14.70!! We're from j ust outside London and pay nowhere near that , so only stopped for one. Shame.

Clean modern bedrooms and bathrooms. Great internet/tea coffee facilities in the room. Room was refreshed to a high standard with good eye for details. Responsible environmental policy with towel usage. Breakfast menu was extensive and good quality tasty food. Dining facilities in the restaurant or bar were also of a good standard. Friendly and efficient staff.

Just visited the Heb Hotel. Visiting Tarbet .popped in for a tea coffee and the driest .thinnest most expensive £3.50 piece off fruit cake I have ever had .was asked when paying the bill .would I like to pay 10% service charge.politley declined felt was being robbed enough without adding that to the bill . I know they are in secluded area but think the prices are scandalous . I have notice this 10 % service charge becoming more off a common occurrence. Don't mind if I feel its worth it but today it def wasn't.

Delicious meal and friendly atmosphere in the Bistro bar. Staff were excellent in their response to one person having coeliacs, showing a good understanding of the need for ingredients to be totally gluten free. Several options offered. Great to eat a 3 course meal with confidence. Will definitely recommend and hope to visit again in the future

Bad luck Hotel Hebrides - you lost £200 of business tonight. Rang the premises before driving the hour from Stornoway for food - “do we need to book tonight - no no - open from 5pm just turn up. “ Went in , to be met before our party was fully in the door, by a very rude man who said “you can’t come in we’ve no room” Random punters on large tables that would’ve sat our party easily nursing their lattes and lemonades whilst watching the tv… no effort made by ‘the manager’ whatsoever to accommodate diners. Went over to the. restaurant area , that was completely empty , to be told “we are full tonight” … Oh well. We definitely won’t be back and you’ve lost our custom for good.

Didn’t stay in the hotel but dined in the restaurant last night. We were very impressed with the friendliness of the staff-nothing was too much trouble. Moreover the food was delicious-the mussels were the freshest I’ve ever tasted. If you’re in the area it’s well worth a visit.
