Unsure why it was such a big deal to seat 2 guests for drinks when there were clearly no bookings, surely drink sales are better than no sales. Unsure on the reasoning behind turning people away when the restaurant is empty, maybe staffing issues.
The server (young boy, tall dark hair) he was lovely, but the manager came across very hostile.
We will not be back here, and don't recommend.
We stayed over since we were at a wedding at the Vu.
It was easy to call a taxi and it’s only 15mins from the venue. The drivers at “All the fours”, were very friendly and helpful.
The Chain Runner for food was lovely but kitchens closed at 7.30pm on a Friday night which was only due to customer numbers being less due to covid.
They kindly still prepared a meal for us as we were just a little after 7.30pm but if they hadn’t it’s a 4min walk to other eating options so you wouldn’t be stuck.
If you are looking for a place to lay your head while going to shop at the mall 4mins away it’s the perfect place to stop over, it’s not the place for a romantic break in my opinion.
They do have disabled rooms and it worked perfectly well for us.
We certainly would come back here again like I said for a stop over, for wedding or shopping.
Must also add their breakfasts are beautiful.
Well done to all the team who make this place run smoothly.
To start off with, staff were friendly and polite which is about the only positive for this stay. The family room we stayed in wasn't great, stains on the walls from previous use, net curtains and windows had black mould, holes in walls, grouting and sealant in bathroom was also not great. The positive was that the bed linen was clean and fresh, just the rest of the room wasn't, which was a disappointment. If it wasn't for our late arrival with 2 young kids, I would have asked for a refund and found another hotel.
Now on to breakfast, remember I paid for the Full Works Breakfast, which was advertised as "Two succulent pork sausages, two rashers of crispy back bacon, two slices of black pudding, two fried free-range eggs and two hash browns. Served with a grilled flat mushroom, a wedge of grilled tomato and baked beans." What we got was "buffet" breakfast, so help yourself. The items available were sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs and beans that had been under the lights for sometime. So we didn't get the breakfasts we paid for and as this food had been under the lights it had mostly all dried out.
Overall not a great experience and wouldn't stay here again.
Positives - bedroom comfy and clean, food in the pub reasonable
Negatives - heating in the room worse than useless, a vent near the ceiling which does nothing, very basic and wry overpriced, wait8 g staff in the hotel at breakfast really need some training on how to speak to customers, but there’s always one in every hotel, the tables in the pub really need to go to the skip, no varnish left on the top, the two soap dispensers had fallen off the wall in the bathroom and left lying on the shelf. There was a noise every time I woke up during the night like a lorry engine running but I’m sure it was the “heating”.
Would I stay here again …… no. I’m sure there are better hotels and restaurants in the area and better value for money.
We visited as a family of 4 therefore staying in a family room which was great for the night - room was clean with a very comfortable bed. Check in / out was easy and hotel in a great location.
Would happily stay here again.
