Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I used the time to celebrate voucher- I had planned to go with my husband, however due to health issues he was unable to go so my mother in law joined me. We enjoyed a five course meal in the dome- the food was delightful and the service was to a high standard. Our server was kind and courteous, and went out her way to ensure we enjoyed the experience! The dome was lovely and well presented. After that my Mother in law departed and I had the delight of a large room which overlooked the grounds and no one to disturb me! The room was in excellent condition and despite the sky bar being directly outside the window and a wedding being on I had a blissful night sleep! The breakfast in the morning was lovely as was my walk around the grounds where I was greeted by some lovely cows!! Overall a lovely experience. Not what I had planned due to circumstances outwith my control but the hotel and my overall experience was lovely! Definitely a nice treat!

My husband and I (with our little dog) attended your cave bar recently and were seated in one of the turret areas which gave us a very private feel to our experience. We felt the food was not only delicious, but very well presented. We were made to feel extremely welcome by Lee the Food and Beverage Manager and the rest of his team. Additionally, as this was a special birthday treat for me, I felt we could not have asked for a better experience.

I have watched the progression of this property since 1984 and my most recent visit confirmed why I keep coming back! They have moved the hotel from drab to fab while keeping the historical atmosphere. The dining service was very good and the staff was extremely helpful. It is worth the price you pay for the experience.

I organised a surprise family meal for 14 guests for my partners 40th birthday in the private dinning room at Meldrum House. The service provided by the events team, the decoration of the room, the quality of the food and the service provided by Thea Monk our waitress during the evening were absolutely first class. We would all highly recommend Meldrum House for any occasion. 10/10 - Keep it up!!

From our stay in the Stables rooms to our excellent meal in the Dome we could not fault it. The staff were very attentive to all our needs and could not do enough to make it a great night. Would definitely use this hotel for a special occasion or just a lovely break away

This hotel is absolutely wonderful and a gem in beautiful rural Aberdeenshire. Original building completed in 16th century therefore very historic and complimented by new extension which has lovely deluxe modern bedrooms with amazing panoramic views of surroundings. Stayed in Estate Superior room which was luxuriously furnished. Staff at reception and restaurant for breakfast very friendly. Full Scottish breakfast tasted incredible. The 1236 Cave bar is a fabulous place to dine and welcoming hospitality staff could not do enough making dinner overall a great experience. Definitely recommend Meldrum House Country hotel and look forward to our next stay.

I'm there now. The building is structurally not fit for purpose. If a wedding party is downstairs the building resonates. It's midnight and the glass in the paintings is vibrating as are the tea cups and various other things in the room. Basically the hotel shakes when someone parties. Unacceptable. After travelling hundreds of miles the least you expect is a good night's sleep. No chance if there's an event. If they charge this much they surely can afford some sound proofing and damping. Maybe come here midweek, but avoid weekends when there may be events. Terrible.

Dear PhilipDodd, Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay at Meldrum House – I must say I disappointed to hear that you did not have a relaxing stay with us. We did have a corporate function taking place in our ballroom who hired in a large scale band and I must apologise if this effected your experience at MH. We do have 28 bedrooms attached to Estate development wing above the ballroom. We do try our best to allocate these rooms to guests attending the function taking place below however in the lead up to Christmas this can be a challenge because of this we send out pre-arrival communication to inform our valued guests. I do believe the team who dealt with you on check-out rectified the situation to reflect your feedback which was accepted by yourself. Best regards, Jordan Charles / Managing Director

Dear 22eileenc, I am terribly disappointed to hear of your feedback from your recent visit to the Estate. I have shared your constructive feedback to relevant parties as the guest journey will always be a primary focus. I believe there must have been a misunderstanding as we do not charge for tap water and offer complimentary chilled bottles of still and sparkling in all room types. Best Regards, Jordan Charles / Managing Director

Took my family for Sunday Lunch at the Meldrum House Hotel. As we would have our 4 year old grandson with us, I chose a table in the 1236@Cave Bar as it would be a bit less formal and more child friendly. This proved to be a good decision. The venue was great, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was exceptional. Definitely worth a visit and we will be back.

We had a birthday meal in the pineapple restaurant, food was very nice but very expensive for what we had. Staff were very polite but the service was very slow. By the end of the night, our table was full of empty glasses as not one glass had been taken away by staff, we ordered a side of parmesan fries and all it was was normal fries with a little parmesan cheese prinkled over them and I was disappointed that we never got offered coffee after our meal, should I have asked, maybe but should I have had to ask. Its all we and good waiters and staff wearing white gloves when serving food but let's get the basics right. I am a big fan of the hotel, I mean I got married there, but after having paid £260 for a meal with only a couple of drinks each and two guests only having two courses, felt the experience very disappointing.
