Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was forced to spend the night in this hotel due to awful weather. While I was relieved to have a bed for the night and something to eat, the accommodation I was given was grim. The room was absolutely freezing and the one small heater did nothing to take the chill off. The freezing air coming in through the poorly covered windows only added to the room’s fridge like atmosphere. The room had one double and two single beds. I chose the bed nearest the heater. I spent the night, fully clothed, wrapped in a fleece cover with the other single duvet over the one on my bed. The bathroom, although clean, was sub zero. There was a heated towel rail but it wasn’t switched on and I couldn’t see any way of doing this. I couldn’t even have a hot shower as it was too cold to get undressed. The hot water tap took forever to run hot. For all this ‘comfort’ I was charged £75, as I was using the room as single occupancy. I had to eat my meal, quite well cooked, in the company of some of the loudest, most foul mouthed men I’ve come across. I’m no prude but this is not the place to bring kids. The only upside were the staff who I found lovely. My recommendation- steer well clear.

8 of us stayed for 2 nights whilst on a goose shooting trip. Great place, welcoming, clean, great pub, bedrooms really clean and comfortable beds. We were out each morning at 6am, returning at 11am, and they went out of their way to still make us breakfast. Fantastic weekend in a great welcoming hotel pub.

Quaint, clean and conveniently located. Soft bed linens, super comfortable bed and great pillows with it. Surprisingly quiet and restful sleep. The hotel also has a great bar, and serves meals as well. Breakfast was perfect and I particularly enjoyed having my very own assigned table. Very friendly staff. I quite enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Fantastic night out at The Thrums Hotel, there were 12 of us and the food was served promptly and to very high standards, not one person in our group had anything negative to say about The Food or the service, which is very unusual with so many people to keep happy, Excellent service, friendly staff, clean place, very welcoming.

Stayed 2 nights for work. Room was clean and comfortable. Only thing was that there were no curtains, only a blind on the window, so light came in early. Not an issue as I was there for work and had to get up early, but would have spoiled a lie in. Ate in the bar both evenings. Food was very good and a good price. Breakfast was included in the price and very good. Served quickly. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Free car parking also a bonus

Had an overnight stay here as I was in the area visiting. The room was huge and definitely value for money! Nice quiet area and the staff are very friendly, had lunch which was amazing and a breakfast the next morning which was a bonus as it was included with the room. Nothing negative to say at all although the room keyring attached to the key was the size of a headstone 😂 thanks again to the team for their excellent service.

Absolutely shocking cheeky member of kitchen staff slamming food down on the table because we returned a cup of tea with sour milk. And then the toast was hard and cold can't even poach a egg properly!! And then was overheard talking about us with other guests. Overall staff where very pleasant just that one person ruined our stay

Fantastic greeting, hotel and staff. All incredibly friendly, exactly what we wanted!! Locals really nice and the owner is a genuine lovely guy. TripAdvisor has made leave a minimum of 200 characters so I need to type this to get over the limit.

Had a great night with my friends and drinks were good however one certain member of staff was not professional with running about swearing and shouting at innocent customers who were abiding by the rules. This created a stressful atmosphere within the pub.

Thank you for your positive comments. As you will appreciate things are very different and at times it is very stressful to manage the social distancing requirements. We very much rely on our customers to help us through this difficult time.
