Detailed Reviews
A lovely guest house sat on the banks of Loch Fyne. We received a warm welcome and great service throughout; the owners were really friendly and helpful. The location is pretty remote but that adds to the charm and means there are plenty of lovely walks in the area.
The rooms were lovely and well appointed. Our Superior room had an exceptional view as across the loch to Inverary Castle. There is also a lovely guest lounge which was warm and inviting; also offering a great selection of local information.
Breakfast was wonderful. A great selection of choices made from fresh, local produce and quality ingredients. The main dishes were served piping hot and were cooked to perfection.

We arrived after a long drive to be given the warmest welcome we have ever had. We were offered some freshly made coffee and cake on arrival. There are even a couple of dogs if you ask to see them!!
The view from the front of the house overlooks a loch and it was lovely just to sit outside and take in the serene atmosphere.
Sue and Avril rang us a few days before to make sure that we had dinner booked as restaurants in Inveraray across the water get full quickly. Their knowledge of the area is second to none.
Our room was very comfortable and big and they had thought of everything like a face flannel for make up removal, flossing sticks and water bottles.
For breakfast we had an extensive list of options to pick from the day before which were brought to our table overlooking the loch, all freshly prepared.
We will without hesitation gladly stay here again and recommend it to all of our friends and family.

We spent two nights at Thistle House in September. Our room (Stewart) was beautiful and clean with a fabulous, well-stocked bathroom, and a view of the gorgeous garden. The house also has a lovely communal lounge where you can relax with a drink in front of the fire. The hosts, Alistair and Jennifer, were really helpful and friendly and took time to remember everyone’s names. Breakfast was also excellent, especially the fruit salad and the homemade marmalade. The location is beautiful, on the shores of Loch Fyne, with lots of walks close by and the town of Inveraray (with its castle) is about 20 minutes away. We can thoroughly recommend this guesthouse and would love to return.

We were absolutely blown away by Thistle House. This was hands down the most gorgeous bed and breakfast we’ve stayed at. We had the family suite, which turned out to be two adjoining bedrooms and a fully appointed modern bathroom.
Every detail was lovingly done from the Morris wallpaper to the curtain tassels.
The old guesthouse has been fully restored with designer attention to every detail from the tartan carpeting to the gorgeous moldings. The spacious living room is perfect for enjoying a relaxing wee dram.
Our host was especially welcoming, giving us the history of the home and attending to any of our needs. In the morning the full Scottish breakfast was cooked to order and the service was incredible. One of the best parts was looking over the loch to see Inveraray Castle gleaming in the sun. Thistle House is truly an idyllic setting!!!
Also, there were homemade jams, pottery and candles available for purchase for very little poundage- I bought so many gifts to take home!
Our only regret was that we didn’t know about this and had too little time to spend here. Highly recommended. Five stars. My husband and I will most definitely return for an extended stay here!!!!

We travel all over the world and are used to staying in top quality although usually corporate styled hotels, as I was due to participate in a BDMLR course at the nearby Lochgoilhead,we decided to stay at the Thistle House Guest House, and what a find, from the minute we arrived we received an exceptional welcome, we were shown to a beautiful room with stunning views,we were then invited to the lounge for coffee ,cake and shortbread, the hosts could not do enough for us preparing early breakfasts ( delicious omletes) and we had requested packed lunches which by any standards were incredible, sandwiches, sausage rolls, cake , biscuits , crisps, and fruit ,water, all for an exceptionally reasonable price, the guest house was immaculate throughout spotlessly clean ,we felt like we were the first guest to have entered this sumptuous property, it was so well looked after,
the property was fully occupied yet we felt as if we were the only guests and so enjoyed the grandeur of Thistle House , additionally the hosts were kind enough to give us details of nearby restaurants which allowed us to book in advance. finally we had an exceptionally comfortable sleep, the rooms are all en-suite with well equipped bathrooms with shower, ample parking and well signposted in both directions, definitely visit again !!!

We arrived to be met by Avril with the offer of tea or coffee and homemade cake which was a surprising, lovely touch. Beautiful property, amazing views over the loch or to the wooded area behind. Avril and Sue could not have done more to make us feel welcome and the breakfast was just perfect, everything fresh and tasty. The beds and pillows were really comfortable and the rooms have been decorated with a great deal of care and attention to detail. Thank you both, if we come back to the area, we would love to stay again.

My wife and I stayed here for overnight stay. We were given a warm welcome by the owner, Our room was immaculate, warm and comfortable, the whole guest house was just beautiful. It is not the cheapest B&B you will find but you cannot put a price on how clean and bright Thistle house is. The breakfast was really nice, anything you wanted cooked fresh to order, piping hot really tasty food cooked to perfection. I would not hesitate to stay again when I am in the area.

The Thistle House Guest House was the highlight stay of our trip to Scotland. The location is stunning, overlooking a loch and hills beyond. The grounds are obviously well tended and we had a delightful afternoon sipping wine while admiring the views. The house is so lovely, immaculately clean, comfortable, and welcoming in every way. Our room was perfect, having 2 very comfortable beds and a modern and once again spotlessly clean bathroom. Breakfast was abundant and so so delicious… we were able to select anything we desired and it was graciously presented by the kind hosts. The hostesses are the true gem of this establishment, welcoming us like friends and treating with care and hospitality throughout our stay. We are so grateful we were lucky enough to have stayed in this exceptional home and recommend it without hesitation to discerning travelers.

We had such a nice stay at the Thistle House Guest House and were sad that we could only stay one night. We appreciated that Sue made a last minute reservation for us for dinner at Craigins Inn after our previous plan was cancelled. When we arrived, Sue served us tea and biscuits in the lovely guest sitting room where we enjoyed conversations with other guests. Comfy room (the MacPherson room) and yummy breakfast.

We had the pleasure of staying here this weekend (5 kids and 5 adults)
Avril and Sue were so welcoming and made us tea and cake on our arrival.
Nothing was too much for them. They were friendly and made everyone feel at home
The breakfast is amazing, good quality and plenty of it.
The rooms are lovely and clean and each have their own TV which is great for tired kids who need a break from all the lovely outdoor stuff nearby.
I would highly recommend this guesthouse.
