Just returned from a 2 night stay at the hotel. A number of reviewers have mentioned it is off the beaten track. They are not wrong! From memory approx 10-11 miles, the first 7 of which aren't actually that bad. What I would say is the drive is well worth it. This location possibly is the most remote of all...

This was a travelzoo offer and we had booked this as part of a week's holiday in our own country. I wasn't disappointed and was amazed at this beautiful country house. As soon as we arrived we were definitely disappointed we hadn't booked at least two nights! What a fantastic place. The views were stunning, the welcome was so special...

The hotel is well off the beaten track and was a bit tricky find, when we did find it through the pouring rain all I can say is wow!!! The hotel stands in the most stunning scenery and is warm and welcoming, the manager came out to assist with our bags and we were shown to our room. The manager...

As a fellow reviewer commented this hotel is a "hidden gem". It is an adventure in itself to reach the premises but on arrival it was evident that the trek was worthwhile. The staff were welcoming, courteous and knowledgeable. The room was quirky, warm and clean and just what you hope for in such an establishment. The food was divine. The cost...

This hotel is very remotely situated, we knew that before we went though so this is not a complaint. We booked through an offer on Travelzoo, for 2 nights at less than half price. The room was poor, it was clean and warm but the en suite only had a shower in the bath, the handle of which was broken....

We stayed at this hotel with an itison deal voucher. The location of the hotel is nice although a bit off the beaten track. The private driveway is a bit bumpy in places and could do with the potholes filled. We stayed in a standard room on the ground floor of the hotel which was warm & welcoming. The room...

A weekend away for a family wedding could not have gone better. Staff were there to provide everything we wished for, even including spare wellies to go walking around the grounds. We were given instruction on how to use the small boats offered and spent a wonderful afternoon out on the lough. Food was first class even for a large...

We had booked this hotel through Travel Zoo for a nice getaway for just the two of us and we thought we had received a great deal as my parents had stayed here a number of years ago and raved about it. On arrival, after getting lost but that was our fault, we were met very well by reception and...

My wife and I spent a very enjoyable visit to Ardanaiseig this week. It is very remote at the top end of Loch Awe and is a ten mile drive on single carriageway road from the main road. On arrival we were shown to our room and two glasses of champagne were delivered. Our room was very comfortable with all...

This hotel is very out-of-the-way but well worth the effort. Don't know if I could have found it on my own. Beautiful country setting, very helpful staff. We had a nicely appointed room with a gorgeous view. Actually, we had booked one room for the three of us but since they were not fully booked, they gave us an additional...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In a quiet place of undisturbed tranquility and almost surreal natural beauty, where the slopes of Ben Cruachan fall into the clear waters of loch Awe, lies a deeply romantic and luxurious old country house called Ardanaiseig. In a 19th-century manor house on 120 acres beside Loch Awe, this luxury hotel is 21 miles from the ruined Kilchurn Castle and 22 miles from Ben Cruachan. Elegant rooms offer loch or garden views and feature antique furnishings. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with DVD players, tea and coffee making facilities, and designer Scottish toiletries. There is also a separate glass-fronted loch side Boatshed suite and a 2-bedroom cottage. An acclaimed restaurant serves upmarket, seasonal dishes. Full Scottish breakfast and afternoon tea are available, and other amenities include boat rentals, croquet and bikes. ... more   less
