Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a lovely hotel in a peaceful location. We were met by lovely hosts who made our little doggie most welcome. Nice and relaxing stay, such a nice location. Evening meal was lovely. Highly recommended for a quiet escape!

Stopped in for a drink after a wet walk. What a lovely welcome from landlady and her aunt. Gorgeous retriever added to the welcome. We weren’t planning on stopping for a drink and didn’t have much cash with us - but not a problem and phone pay worked. How a local hotel and bar should be. We will be back!

A fantastic wee hotel with only 8 rooms. Great wee bar with some lovely French house wines. The owners, Helena and Chris are kind and helpful and they have a lovely Golden Retriever called Edie. Great views from the outdoor seating to the rear and a sun trap on nice days. French cuisine in the beautifully decorated restaurant. Great breakfasts too. Good value for money.

If you want a hotel in the back of beyond that’s only open Thursday to Monday (sometimes), doesn’t serve booze or snacks at lunchtime, and has an evening restaurant window of two hours, the Kilfinan is the place for you…….enjoy…👍

Response from Kilfinan Hotel, Owner at Kilfinan Hotel
Responded 5 Aug 2023
Thank you for your comments. We are a very small business (wife/husband/dog team) that is located in a very rural location and our opening hours are clearly displayed on our website and associated social media. We don't believe you actually stepped foot into our business and thus find your review somewhat strange, but clearly you have nothing better to do or contribute. We love welcoming guests to our hotel and home and you can see their reviews of their stays on our website. All the very best.

Situated in a peaceful and quiet location, the hotel oozes charm from it's 300 year old building. That Helena, Chris and Edie (the dog!) have taken this and are adding their personal touch to it is highly appreciated. We needed a few nights of R&R and stumbled upon the hotel through the byways of the Internet. It was the most wonderful and happiest of accidents and we'll certainly be back. We can't recommend the hotel highly enough.

My fiancé and I have returned from an overnight stay in this delightful hotel. Set in beautiful countryside with complete peace and quiet it really was wonderful. Helena , Chris and their adorable doggy Edie were so welcoming and quickly rectified a slight problem. I will 100% return and could not recommend enough. Thanks!

A lovely classic hotel building in a beautiful location. Very welcoming owners who really ensured we enjoyed our stay. Lovely double bedroom with ensuite and fantastic large bed and bedding. Freshly prepared cooked breakfast with all the trimmings.

Believe that we were 1st post covid guests to stay. Was on our bucket list, wanted to stay here for years and we didn't leave disappointed. Food lovely, room 1 was great but best of all was the hospitality; nothing was too much trouble. Edie the hotel's retriever pup was the hotel's best USP. Great walks all around the hotel and Argyll sunsets a thing of wonder.

Excellent host, knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommended! The beer garden is lovely, plenty of parking, lovely environment. I didn’t eat but the hotel was fully booked each time, so assume that’s a good sign! Love the quant decor and bar!
