Seafield Farm Cottages are three lovely self catering holiday homes around Loch Sween, Argyll near the village of Achnamara. Byre and Stable Cottages each sleep 2 in two bedrooms and Kirkland Lodge sleeps 2 in one bedroom. All of our accommodation is exceptionally well equipped and comfortable and situated in a beautiful and little known part of the west coast of Scotland. Walking and wildlife in abundance. The perfect place for a relaxing holiday just two hours from Glasgow. We do not accept pets in any of our accommodation.

We have just had the most relaxing and perfect holiday in the UK we have ever had. Obviously helped by glorious sunshine and no rain (even in Scotland !) The holiday on Loch Sween started with a warm welcome from Jane (including homemade cake) as she showed us around Kirkland Lodge. The views over the Loch were stunning, they changed throughout the day but we never tired of looking out at the spectacular views. There was always something interesting to see, the wide range of birds on the feeders in the garden, a seal swimming up the lock and even a Pine martin running past the entrance at the property. The Lodge had everything we needed including a well equipped kitchen and the bed was particularly comfortable. There are lots of places to visit in the area and we would particularly recommend the boat trip from Crinan harbour. If you are looking for Peace and Tranquillity with beautiful views then this is the place to stay.…

Another fabulous break at Seafield cottages, this time we stayed in The Byre. Jane and James are our idea of perfect hosts – a warm welcome with the most delicious cake, a source of information and suggestions for walks and outings, quick to respond to any queries (like how to get the DVD working) and where to fish. . The cottage is spacious and very well equipped with attention to comfort and ensuring a relaxing holiday whatever the weather. Books, games, DVDs, maps, local guide books and walks We had good weather in that it was dry when we were out and about enjoying the beautiful spring countryside. We walked everyday – from the Byre into the Knapdale forest, Loch Collie-Bahr (didn’t spy any beavers) and further afield - Taynish nature reserve (sadly the bluebells are late this year); Ellary estate and Loch Caolisport, from Dalavich on Loch Awe to Loch Avich; Crinan woods and Crinan trail; Ardcastle….. A trip to Springbank Distillery in Campbelltown. Great meals out at the Tayvallich Inn, and lunches at the coffee shops in Tayvallich and Crinan, Smiddy’s and Argyll Cafe in Lochgilphead. Suggest you call in on the Tourist Information in the Argyll Book Centre in Lochgilphead early on in your visit for local ‘what’s on’. We were fortunate to attend a concert in St Columba’s Church, Poltalloch. And enjoy browsing the tempting collection of books. Although we didn’t cycle this time, we have in the past enjoyed the many good rides from the cottage – through the Knapdale Forest; to Tayvallich returning via Crinan; across the Moss to Crinan Ferry; to Kilmory then on through the Ellary estate, past St Columba’s cave around Loch Caolisport and back along the Canal (best done at the end of the holiday when stamina and endurance has been built up). Two weeks just flew by! Plenty of memories and two of Jane’s baskets to remind us why we keep going back. We stayed at Kirkland for a week and it was perfect! The view of the Loch is lovely and you can sit at the table or sofa and watch the birds. It was a week with cold spells but the wood burning stove and good supply of wood kept us cosy. Everything is well thought out and kitchen has everything you need. The wifi is good, tv, dvd and bluray player when you need them and the area is full of beautiful walks. Bed and shower are fab and there is a supply of books and magazines and even a nice cake on arrival. Thanks for a lovely holiday and we hope to be back soon!

There was nothing we could fault in our stay here as it provided everything we could possibly require. The cottage was incredibly clean, cosy and warm. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed for home cooking for the week and the living area was spacious and homely. Seafield Cottages are in a great location if you are looking for a holiday to immerse yourself in nature and the great outdoors.

We spent a week at Kirkland. Fabulous! Comfortable and cosy whatever the weather. Great walks on forest tracks in the area and along the Crinan canal. Interesting places to visit but especially good for a relaxing break in lovely, peaceful surroundings. We would definitely visit again.

My husband, 11 month old son, and I had the most wonderful week staying in the lovely Byre cottage. It was the perfect size and the cottage itself had everything we needed for our boy too. Incredibly peaceful, day and night, and our son loved looking at the chickens and the other wildlife nearby. Jane was a wonderful host and we had lovely trips to Glencoe, Oban and Arduaine Gardens, and then closer to 'home' we visited Tayvallich, and had some lovely walks around Kilmartin, Crinan, and Castle Sween. We would recommend staying at Seafield Farm Cottages without a doubt.

We returned again to stay in Kirkland and had yet another peaceful and relaxing stay in this great lodge. Jane was extremely helpful and always available in the event of any issues (we had none). A great place to relax and unwind on the shores of Loch sween in a beautiful area. The wild birds were great to watch feeding and we had a woodpecker pay a visit this year. we love this place and will be back

We first visited Kirkland last Oct and loved it so much we returned to spend our New Year here. The lodge itself is so cosy, a great woodburner to keep you toasty of an evening (we didn't even need to put any other heating on). The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need; we only ate out once as took pleasure cooking in the kitchen most evenings. The loch is a stones throw away and is such a beautiful site in the morning, amplified by the top to bottom glass front. A different view everyday, so tranquil; took the dog down to have some playtime each morning. Last time we took a sturdy inflatable dingy over the loch to the other side (dog in tow) and picked some of the nicest mussels and oysters we've ever had. Great spot to settle down and enjoy local walks, there's loads - we particularly enjoyed ones from Tayvallich, the Inn there serves beautiful food, delicious scallops and great homemade chips! The beds are so very comfortable and must confess we took advantage and had a good few afternoon naps after a good walk. Jane is wonderfully accommodating, there if you need anything but very much leaves you to it after explaining everything you need to know. Will have to have a go at willow basket making on our next visit, Jane runs workshops up at Seafield! Absolutely everything we needed, enjoyed reading and playing Scrabble of an evening. Landscape is absolutely incredible and took our breath away daily. Jane has really thought of everything and we are grateful to be able to share this wonderful Lodge in one of the most beautiful parts of our country. Thank you! We shall be back!…

We stayed at Kirkland Lodge for a week. The property is in a great location with Loch Sween only a few yards from the front door. A quiet single track lane seperates the lodge from the shore, but we found the traffic to be so light that it hardly registered with us. The front of Kirkland lodge is largely glass, with the main entrance consisting of glass sliding french window style double doors affording a lovely open aspect and view out towards the Loch. The dining table is positioned right next to the other front window enabling you to sit at the table and gaze out over the Loch. To cap it, the lodge's open plan living area has a vaulted ceiling and a further glazed area facing forwards up to the apex making the space feel lovely and light. The wood burner is very easy to use and was easily capable of making the lodge nice and toasty, but read the instructions as the handles get hot so you need to use the provided tool to open the vents. One of the things I loved about the view from Kirkland is that the shoreline opposite the lodge is uninhabited, so you're looking out across the loch at an unspoilt shoreline and wooded hillside with no sign of human activity. Jane is a friendly and very professional host, providing a high level of equipment and even many basic supplies at the lodge (not to mention the lovely home made cake that greeted us on arrival). After showing us to the Lodge we were left to it, with an open invitation to contact Jane if we needed anything (there is a payphone with a freephone number to call Jane). The lodge was clean, airy and very well equipped with pretty much everything we could imagine you might need. The broadband wifi was much better than expected for such a rural location and the lodge has Sky TV and a DVD with a selection of films, in addition to well stocked book shelves, so there is plenty to keep you entertained if you feel the need. Location wise Kirkland proved to be ideal for us. A beautiful white sand beach can be found a few miles down the road near Kilmory Knap Chapel and there is a lot to see and do in the area without having to drive far. The Knapdale Forest walks are lovely, taking in the loch where Beavers were re-introduced a few years ago. Taynish Nature reserve is close by as are the Crinan Canal, Dunadd Hillfort and Kilmartin Glen with it's Stone Circles and burial mounds, you can even take a boat trip out to see wildlife and the Corryvreckan tidal whirlpool or a high speed ferry trip across to Jura. All in all this turned out to be one of the most enjoyable breaks we've had in many years. If you're looking for a self catering holiday in this beautiful, often overlooked part of Scotland, then we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Seafield farm cottages.…

Have stayed here twice now. Owners very nice and helpful, if intending to see the beavers speak to the owner as thier information is far more reliable than online etc. A chalet type building well maintained and good layout. Was never cold and the wood burner was ready if it turned chilly. WiFi is a good router with above average Internet speed for rural location. Parking area is in front with easy access for loading etc. The sea loch is nearly always carm and you wouldn't believe it's the sea apart from tides. Lots of wildlife both land and marine.
