Detailed Reviews
Don’t be put off by the dated decor, the food here is great. We ate here on two nights during a recent holiday and the food was very good and great value. Service was quick and friendly. Would have no hesitation returning if back in the area.

Visited twice during our week stay in Tighnabruich. lovely food and generous portions, friendly staff. Our second visit was spoilt however by a group of local lads who stood at the bar and were extremely loud, swearing and shouting. One end of the bar is situated in the main restaurant and families and couples dining were subjected to loud foul language/story’s being shouted to one another. I do not object to pub chat, but at 6pm teatime on a Saturday this wasn’t appropriate. I did ask one of the waiting staff if they could be asked to reduce the volume a bit given we were there with our kids and parents, however we were told that this was difficult as they were locals! This shouldn’t make a difference, we left as soon as we could as did other tables that evidently didn’t appreciate the atmosphere. Shame really - but if wanting to attract families/visitors maybe a separate restaurant area might be an idea.

I was surprised by the last review as i have had many roasts and they are always great value for money . Unfortunately there can be a mistake or two in life so maybe annoe 1 experienced this . It cant be all bad if its full most sundays . Personally i would bring to the attention of the chef on the day instead of submitting a blanket bring down .

What a welcoming place this is . We were staying at the Hideaway at Kilbride farm and came here most nights for their very reasonably priced food , a drink and a catch up . The food is excellent { two very good chefs !!} and the beer good . We will definitely return to eat here again .

Due to a holiday booking mix-up, we found ourselves in need of overnight accommodation at very short notice and, fortunately the Tighnabruaich Hotel were able to support on a Friday night.
The hotel itself is a,little tired but the rooms were immaculate, the bed was huge and comfortable and the double glazing shut out all of the Friday night noise from this small lochside town.
I must commend the manager for whom nothing was too much trouble. Because we had dogs with us, he gave us a room on the ground floor right by the main door so we could get them in and out easily. He found us a table in the restaurant on a very busy Friday night, he cooked us breakfast on Saturday morning and he even stored some of our perishable food in his fridge for us overnight.
The food we ate (both dinner and breakfast) was ok - fairly typical pub grub but served quickly and tasted good.
I would not hesitate to recommend this place to other travellers

Very unfriendly staff who refused to serve us as a family with two children even though the restaurant was empty, didn’t acknowledge us when we arrived and generally a very bad attitude and atmosphere. Clearly very inhospitable towards non-locals. We sat waiting for over half an hour to order food and eventually decided to order ourselves at the bar to be told they were ‘fully booked’ but as previously stated the restaurant was empty. We have been before on various occasions but unfortunately will definitely not return and would not recommend.

Absolutely fab place. I have allergies and they had multiple options for GF, DF, VE, V. We booked with 15 minutes notice at 6pm on a Weds evening. The venue is traditional, but the ambience was fabulous. The server was really lovely, very helpful with allergy info and nothing was too much trouble. My husband had the fishcakes and he said they were delicious. I went for the butternut squash and lentil Wellington, which had tons of flavour. The children's burger looked good quality. With drinks the meal was amazing value. There is a beautiful view from the restaurant, free parking and ramp access.

Went to hotel at 4.20pm
Went into the bar enquired about the meals, the bar person, said don’t serve until 6pm.
We sat outside, waiting for time to order, we went back in again to ask about the meals, said can’t order until 6pm. His attitude was not nice at all .. not helpful,
So at 6pm I went back inside ( after being told he would come out and take the order) to be told we couldn’t order our meals until 6.30.
Not happy with service. Food was well worth waiting for! Service definitely not!

We were made to feel very unwelcome when we asked for a dinner menu. The barman appeared to be running the bar and kitchen on his own. Perhaps he was stressed . I don’t know how the food was we didn’t stay to find out. It’s a pity because it was recommended so maybe we just got a bad day

Booked a reservation for 6PM turned up and they said “as you can see we are a bit tight for tables”walked out within 2 minutes of walking in. I wouldn’t bother booking if you want somewhere reliable you want to go to! When you book a table you don’t expect to be told that!
