Fabulous Views and great Atmosphere. We spent a brilliant Sunday afternoon sitting in the sun, outside, watching the world sail by. The staff were super nice and helpful so we decided to come back and have an evening meal. Food was very good, well presented and lots of local choice. (We watched their hens laying eggs on the Sunday afternoon so we knew they were as fresh as they could possibly be11)
The owners were on site and chatted away and are, quite rightly so, very proud of their hotel and what they have achieved.
The staff were also proud of their workplace and were well informed of the locality.
Next time we visit the area we will definately book into the Kames Hotel

This hotel is tucked away in an extremely beautiful part of Scotland. The place itself is very comfortable, room-wise and public spaces all very well furnished and styled. The food, all cooked to order is very good, the chef seems to like a bit of off the wall experimentation for specials and serves up some really tasty, unusual and surprising treats from what he could get fresh that weekend. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling in that vicinity.

Beautiful place , lovely rooms( nice toiletries, iron, hairdryer etc) Stayed for 2 nights with my partner , check in is 3pm no one there before and checkout 11am , we were an hour early leaving so just left key on reception. The staff very friendly . We were room 6 standard double with shower and garden view , first floor , loved the view and big windows . All good locally produced and delicious , full Scottish breakfast struggle to finish , had porridge too . Dinner first night , Fish and steak pie and 2 sticky toffee puddings and pint tennents £60 . Enjoyed the gins on offer , Isle of Bute but bar closed at 10 , bar games available , magazines , books and newspapers also available in lounge . Would definitely stay again . Within 10 minutes drive , Portavardie ( outdoor spa ) and Ostel beach ( 20 minute walk from roadside) worth a visit

We booked a table for 7.30pm and then had to wait 15/20 mins before an order for a drink was taken. Following ordering our meal we waited 75 mins before our first course arrived. I approached the server when no food had arrived within 30 mins to ask for some bread while we waited but then had to ask again as it had not arrived 20 mins later( charging us £7.50 for bread). There was no acknowledgment from the staff that we had to wait so long and the whole experience was not pleasant. I had booked for a family dinner in a few weeks but this experience has made me consider cancelling. The lack of customer care is disappointing.

Stayed here at the end of day 1 on the Loch Lomond and Cowal Way long distance walk.
My room was lovely - one of the front ones looking over the bay and the room itself was absolutely fine, well equipped and with a comfy bed.
Goof food in the restaurant with a good few fishy options which were well cooked and presented. Breakfast was equally good with plenty of options featuring ultra fresh eggs from the hens that you could see running about outside the breakfast room!
Overall, no issues and would recommend and return.

Thank you for a wonderful stay over the Christmas period. Just like to mention that our room was beautiful overlooking the loch, the view of Isle of Bute was just wonderful. Our breakfast and meal times was a lovely experience, a perfect selection of food in a relaxed setting with a log burner. Great selection of beers and alcohol drinks in the bar. Met with like-minded people and made good friends. Perfect place for long walks made even more enjoyable seeing otters, seals and many species of birds. A big thanks to our hosts Irene and Scott along with the very friendly staff who made our stay most enjoyable. Will see you again in 2025!

We stayed here a week good points : Comfortable room and bed Beautiful sea view Fantastic breakfast Breakfast staff were lovely Dog friendly Clean , good covid safety
Bad points : Terrible welcome. room keys basically thrown over no how was the journey? and no information given like where to go for breakfast , where the dog is and isn't allowed ( they are not allowed in breakfast room ) no idea if they're allowed alone in room we shut ours in the car but others were definitely leaving them alone .
No bath , booking.com stated there was a bath apparently this is out of the control of the hotel ?
Room generally nice but shower slow draining so you end up ankle deep in water , mirror has fallen off wall so is just leant against wall .
Staff in restaurant in the evening were not friendly at all got the impression they were stressed from being short staffed , they just wanted you through and out . Food expensive at £50 for 2 mains and 2 puddings and very average, curry had zero spice and burger bland only ate there once would've eaten every night if good .

Picked up one of the hotel's own moorings. Quite awkward to see which were the hotel's ones though. Had a lovely meal in the hotel. Staff pleasant, nice decor, nice food. Moorings are free to use overnight if you buy meal/drinks at the hotel.

Location - stunning, but make sure you get a room at the front of hotel. Room was spacious with plenty of storage unlike places like premier inn, Travel Lodge. Bed was very comfy. Only criticism was the shower room was a bit tired looking. Breakfast was excellent, all freshly cooked. Evening meals - menu a bit fish oriented but portions are very generous. Don't get a prawn cocktail - nearly £10 for prawns dumped on some greenery. Very poorly presented albeit tasty. Staff are all excellent and very friendly. Take a trip over on ferry to Bute, a great day out

We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is situated in a quiet area with outstanding views from the rooms at the front of the hotel. Food is good but ought to be with the prices that are charged. Unfortunately, like many service industry businesses, finding trained staff is a major problem for the hotel. This did severely impact the standard of service provided at and our enjoyment of the meals we ate there, once at breakfast and both nights at dinner. We are an older couple. Our room was on the top floor of the hotel. There is no lift and 4 flights of quite steep stairs to the top floor. There was no offer of assistance with our luggage. Don't know if this was due to a shortage of staff or simply a service that the hotel do not provide.
