Yet another visit to Rothesay, on the Isle of Bute, Scotland. We were visiting friends & family & staying at Alamein House B&B for 4 nights again. We love staying here, very comfortable & homely,& a very warm welcome from Ursula. Our bedroom was very spacious, with washing facilities, plenty of wardrobe & drawer space, tea/coffee facilities, 2 seater sofa,... More

We have spent many visits at Alamein House over the years and have always been wonderfully looked after by Ursula. From the spacious rooms and local knowledge to a full breakfast with a view out to sea. Will definitely be returning and hopefully very soon.

Had three nights here with Ursula providing a fantastically warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble and the breakfasts provided a great start our days of fishing and golf, the view across the bay were splendid and only a short stroll to the town center along the promenade. The room was warm and clean. The locals also helped make the... More

Having just returned from Bute from a lads fishing/golf weekend I am delighted to have stayed at 'Alamein' for 3 nights. The house is ideally located along the sea front just a short walk from the ferry port and town centre. Accommodation was excellent with 8 lads sharing 5 spacious rooms. The owner 'Ursula' was the perfect host, from her... More

Ursula could not make you more welcome, as other reviewers say. We had a lovely stay in the annexe room which would be great for dogs as it is just by the front door. We are vegetarians and Ursula was very happy to provide a lovely breakfast for us. And the history and memorabilia about Alamein made it extra special.

I stayed with Ursula over Easter, and can attest to the same warm welcome that many other travellers have spoken about. I was in a double attic room with a seaview at a single occupancy rate which was very good value for money. I enjoyed relaxed chats with Ursula after breakfast, catching up about the goings on in Bute. I... More
