The hotel in general was nice. The location on the edge of Lock Lomond makes for breathtaking views and it felt a bit like the hotel relied quite heavily on this. All staff were friendly enough, with two servers in the restaurant being chatty and making us feel more like we were valued rather than they were just trying to be nice. The hotel had implemented covid-19 regulations with varying levels of success (e.g. all staff had face shields, but one in, one out policy in the bathrooms did not work and some of the cleaners used were very harsh). The food was standard pub grub and was done well. The bed was comfortable but the room could do with a considerable update in style as it felt chintzy and dated. Breakfast was disappointing with little care taken on the items chosen to serve (could have used Scottish sausages rather than standard Richmond). Generally no complaints, but probably won't stay again.

We stayed in the Beinn Dubhchraig lodge for 3 nights and had the most lovely time. We had originally booked Cnap Mhor in April but thanks to Covid-19 we had to move it to July and we’re given the other lodge. Both lodges sit right at the waters edge and have their own private jetty. They both look identical although ours looked more towards the marina.

The lodges are looking a bit dated (both in looks and decor) but they are clean, very well stocked in the kitchen and have great heating if you need it. The hot tub is completely drained and refilled between each visit and are visited by the handyman every morning to add the chemicals etc required. The view from the hot tub is simply stunning (we had sunshine, cloud and rain in 3 days and loved the view every day). As the hotel was still closed on our visit we couldn’t eat there and so stocked up for our stay for cooking ourselves. There’s a bbq available although you need to bring your own brickets etc. You also don’t get a wee welcome package (slighty disappointed as there was a coffee maker but no pods - you shouldn’t be expected to bring pods for a coffee maker you don’t know the brand of) - so make sure you bring tea, coffee, sugar etc although you are supplied with dish towels and dishwasher tablets. There is no shops close by so make sure you are fully stocked unless you fancy a drive....

I think the appliances are needing a bit of an upgrade (dishwasher leaked and one of the fridges didn’t close properly so you had to always double check the door was shut) but these were minor issues which didn’t affect our stay. The bathroom upstairs only has a bath with a shower attachment but there is a good shower room downstairs next to the sauna ( great for drying out towels). We were 4 adults and 2 kids staying ( my two loved the bunk beds) but you could have 8 with the pull down sofa in the living room.

There’s a great little water sports business at the marina (which is literally a couple of minutes walk from the lodge) and we rented kayaks and a paddle board to use in the loch. They also offer wake boarding, Speedboat tours etc and were so helpful! Would highly recommend you try them out.

We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

We had stayed here overnight while walking the West Highland Way two years ago and came back for a three night stay for a more leisurely stay. It has a lovely location with seating in a garden sweeping down to the loch side path. It has a very convenient bus stop outside the hotel in both directions as an alternative to using the train station which is slightly further away but still convenient.

The hotel was operating with reduced staffing due to positive COVID test and staff member(s) needing to self isolate. We were in-fact given the option of cancelling altogether and getting a complete refund as services would be reduced. In fact we decided to go ahead and glad we did. I am not sure what the reduced service was unless it was our room not being serviced which we don’t especially want anyway and hadn’t put the tag on our door. Certainly one woman maybe the manager /owner always seemed to be on duty and was working very hard.

I also made the mistake of ordering leek and brie pie not realising it was chicken, leek and brie pie and when I cut into it and realised, I was offered macaroni cheese as an alternative but was unable to finish and found it disappointing. If you are vegan or vegetarian choice of food is limited but as a pescatarian the next night I had beer battered fish, chips and mushy peas which was excellent, not greasy at all.

We were given a fresh fruit salad special on our final morning breakfast which was a nice touch.

We booked superior room with a view. But sorry to say it was very lacking. Huge cobweb across the curtains and the only view was caravans, car park and if you crooked your neck a very small part of loch...we paid extra for this room as it was special occasion but even though room was very spacious it was dark, outdated, and the bathroom was TINY. The whirlpool bath is a single bath with a whirlpool but the shower overhead was cumbersome and the water was either scalding or freezing. You literally could not move in the room.
The waitress with pink hair was lovely as were the young new Asian waiter and the lovely lady who was our breakfast waitress.
The area is beautiful but I’m sorry to say the price was not worth the hotel experience. I’m so sorry..we stayed in room 10. They charged another £10 over and above for our tiny bichons 😩

We stay in one of two large waterfront lodges. I can honestly say I have never returned to any other holiday destination in the UK besides for this one, and we will continue to do so every year.
The place is just Wow! A lodge is a lodge right.? Nope.
You can not get this view from a lodge anywhere!
The facilities are wonderful, staff welcoming, lodge sooo cozy.
Hot tub, sauna, your own Private jetty, mountain and loch views what more could you want.
We get excited every year to invite different friends or family with us on our holiday because the look on their faces when they see it and fall in love like we did is wonderful.
My brother in law just returned from cnap mor from our recommendation and he also said he would never go anywhere else now.
The lodge has everything you need inside and not your typical basic self catering accommodation.
Returning again in a few weeks and can't wait..
If your thinking about booking one of these lodges just book it, you will never look back.

We spent a brilliant weekend in Loch Lomond with our 2 kids ,

We went to the ardlui hotel for dinner and the service and food were excellent , reasonably priced for both food and drink , couldn’t get a better setting, If you get a chance to sit outside.

I had the steak pie and was by far the best choice on the menu homemade , with plenty steak and a generous serving of chips and peas ,
Hard to beat after a day in the water.

We also tried the fajitas fish and desserts too all really good ,

If your in the area it’s worth popping in and seeing what else the caravan park has to offer

We came to Ardlui Hotel after a long walk on the WHW and it was a pleasure enter the premises; easy and friendly check in, great room with a view, spotlessly clean. The restaurant deserves praise; after several days with pub food (nothing wrong with the kind of culinary treat but sometimes change is needed) it was great to visit a restaurant with a chef who produces some quite amazing dishes and a waitress who was smiles and dedication all over. Rarely have I ordered an extra appetizer but their hagggis with whisky/mustard sauce was exceptional.
As a services to their guests, the hotel has arganize a small ferryboat from the other side of Loch Lomond where the WHW passes to the hotel´s pier. Just hoist the ball and the ferry comes. Great. Our compliments to the hotel and the staff.

Stayed in glen lodge-amazing views of the river, spent 5 nights here and used the hotel a couple of times for food and drink. I had read a couple of reviews about the lack of staff presence and just wanted to point out we are in a pandemic-the staff are really friendly, helpful and the food is well worth the money. There were 6 of us and we were not made to wait long at all. The only point I would like to make is the site could do with a little park for the little ones. Would love to return next year

Lovely dinner & Ardlui 4 on draft

Beds were super comfy, hotel was a bit run down and some dodgy electrical sockets in our room. Twin room had a hand held shower which wasn’t ideal after 14 miles walking.

Food was great and the catered for kids, vegetarians & allergies

Beautiful views and lovely staff

Breakfast was nice & variations catered for

Packed lunches were not the best far too much butter & hardly any cheese in the cheese sandwich- though they did offer Mars bars!

We have just returned from a fabulous weekend spent at the lodges at the Ardlui Hotel. The lodges are well equipped, gorgeous location and reasonably priced. We dined at the hotel
On the Saturday night and the service was fabulous. We were a group of 14 and all the food was piping hot and served with a smile! We had breakfast at the hotel each morning which was cooked fresh and really tasty. Again, the staff were fab!
