Went on a national holiday coach to the claymore hotel in arrochar, just for the night and with a shopping stopover at Glasgow for 4 hours. Stopped at Gretna green for an hour. It's very busy with the tourism due to the history of elopement of loves young dream to get married in the smithy over the anvil. The place is...

Renovate rooms and bathrooms like 510------interesting to note comments re 517 and experience would be better. Poorest rooms I have ever stayed in. Breakfast fine---could be warmer---even if first in----evening meal--mismatch-----potatoes and chips on same plate ?---- overcook veg. Hotel could be far better with improvements. Staff attentive and helpful.

Many thanks for your comments on trip advisor. I can advise you that there are 12 more bedrooms/bathrooms due for refurbishing in the very near future. I'm glad that you found the staff attentive and helpful. Kind regards, Gary Watson.

Our room 517 was painted a fetching prison grey with dirty marks on walls, cobwebs aplenty and grubby carpets. We wondered why no shower curtain/screen and found that one wasn't needed as the shower was barely a trickle. Had to resort to strip washes for the 3 days stay as couldn't use bath due to arthritic knees. When told this...

Many thanks for your comments on trip advisor. I'm so glad you liked the colour of the walls in the refurbished rooms. The bathroom is equipped with a bath with shower attachment to enable you to wash your hair. I can only apologise that you were told the incorrect reason for the lack of water pressure - the lever to...

Many thanks for your comments on trip advisor. I'm delighted to read that you found the hotel friendly and had also decided to return to stay with us again. The menu does change from season to season and salads have been taken off the winter menu. I'm afraid you will find yourself in a very small minority that like salad...

In the middle of November my wife and I visited the Claymore hotel as part of a 5 day National Holiday's tour. There was snow on the surrounding mountains and the hotel had a feeling of fairy tale land. The food at the Claymore was superb with a choice of three starters, three main courses and three 'finishers'. We were...

Many thanks for your lovely comments regarding your recent stay. I'm disappointed to read that you did not get seats in the function room. We are restricted with seating and numbers in this rom and it does fill up very quickly! I hope that you can return for another stay in the future. Kind regards, Gary Watson.

Hotel reception manned all day with free wifi and sells souveniers cheaper than shops on the trips to Callender, Oban and Inverary. Trip also to loch lomond with boat cruise for just £8. Breakfast has full english, fruit juices, yoghurts, cereals eat...

Just returned from a National Holidays stay at the Claymore. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking Loch Long and the public rooms are very traditional - wonderful as the bar etc were decorated for the festive season. Our bedroom and bathroom were small but adequate and very clean, warm and comfortable. The food is good and presentation and...

Reception Staff wasn't very helpful/friendly. Room didn't get cleaned the whole 3 nights I was there. Could do with a lick of paint and freshening up. On a better note the evening entertainment was fab and the food was delicious. Also the views where amazing!
