Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The jewel in the pendant of Lochs & Glens range of hotels; the Ardgartan has the most wonderful open lobby with views over the loch. The rooms are lovely and spacious, food is excellent (for coach holiday fare), the bar fairly-priced and the staff well drilled. Excursions are great and with that little bit extra quality that L&G provide. We had a wonderful stay and a wonderful holiday. PS. Driver Pete is excellent, a good man.

A fantastic and well run hotel. The staff couldn’t do enough for you. The place is spotless and the view over Loch Long is amazing! I feel I have to compliment the team of young people working in the dining room. Carman with her big booming “Good Morning” really set you up for the day and two young ladies who regularly looked after us were Amber and Cortney with her lovely green hair that matched her tartan tie. To be fair all the dining room team the hotel should be proud of! Especially in this day and age when a lot of young people will just answer you with a grunt. I hope Ian the manager will continue with his team that run like clockwork. And his little dog in reception is so cute especially when he comes round to inspect that the guests meet with his canine approval lol. Well done to all. A holiday to remember. Denise x

We had a wonderful time, staying at the Ardgartan. Staff couldn't have been more attentive. Forgot my glasses when I left, and Ian, the manager, was kind enough to post them back to the south coast for me. Free of charge! Vegetarian food was good, too.

Amazing hotel next to a loch, so fabulous views. The food was gorgeous, plenty of choice. Bad weather stopped us from going out one day, but hotel put on a light lunch & entertainment for us. We've booked already to go this year with some friends

Well what can I say, we went here for new years break, and we have had the best time ever, we travelled with my sister and husband on a lochs and Glen's coach tour, the hotel is set in the most amazing scenery, the rooms are clean comfy and spacious, from start to finish the whole holiday was perfect, the staff were very helpful and happy and nothing was to much trouble, the food was excellent, think we've eaten our own body weight 🤣, and plenty of it too, the entertainment was brilliant and new years eve was amazing, the excursions were great also, the coach was very clean and comfortable, we are all coming on another break with Lochs and Glen's,

My wife and i visited over Christmas. Our first time with Lochs and Glens.A recommendation from my Sister- and Brother-in law who also joined us.Long coach journey from Bigleswade but comfortable and efficient. On arrival it became immediately apparent that it was a very spacious, clean and welcoming festive hotel with stunning views. Our large room had lots of space and everything you needed including en suite shower with grab rails.A comfortable double bed as well as a single. This became very useful as i came down with a cold during our stay.I notified reception that i was not going on a day trip to Glasgow and panto. They ask if i would like a sandwich, coffee for lunch which i thought was very kind.It was very nice. The staff could not of been better.Cheerful and efficient.Good chose of food which was always warm and very tasty. The entertainment was fine. One act stood out a Scotsman with Long beard and a kilt with an acoustic guitar was very good telling humourous tales of Scotland and old tradional ballads.Drinks were resonably priced. On the dry day my wife and i walked around the hotel.Stunning views and even resident oystercatchers. We would highly recomend this hotel as really good value for money.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful setting with outstanding views. The staff were super friendly & helpful. The rooms were clean and warm although a little outdated. The beds are tiny almost a large single and the quilts are very small, in saying that the mattress was comfortable. The breakfast was good but the rest of the meals were awful, tiny portions and mostly processed food some inedible. The coach trips were amazing and Dougie is an outstanding host. Overall a good experience however; some simple changes needed.
