Nestled in a picturesque setting, the Ardgartan Hotel captivates guests with its stunning views and sense of escapism, which many travelers find enchanting. Visitors often commend the spacious, immaculate rooms and the warm, efficient service delivered by the friendly staff. While some amenities such as fridges or air conditioning might be absent, and certain guests have pointed out small TVs and limited toiletries, the overall value is appreciated, particularly given the reasonable drink prices and enjoyable entertainment options. Despite occasional remarks about disorganization and dining experiences, the hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness receive consistent praise.

We took a self drive trip to this stunning and very spacious hotel in a stunning location
A great view from 3rd floor room looking directly down the Loch. WE could see for over a mile. We were greeted by manager who I must say was on hand during our 4 day stay. He even served in restaurant.
The hotel was spotless. Staff were on hand to sanitise every table when vacated. Lots of sanitisers were placed in main treads, I felt safe.
Meals were varied in content. As usual last evening was out standing.
The hotel had it's hands tied, no music or games, nothing that would encourage mixing with other guests was understandable but sad.
We were able like all guests to tour area. WE had a day out to Mull which is advised but plan and book ferry first. 2 ferry operators are available. There are a few other places of interest plus many walks within grounds.
I found this 4 night break extremely good value. Down side is possible boredom, Take table games with you. Another thing was lack of snacks during the day. On a not unusual day of rain when we decided to stay in hotel. However there was no food at all. I thought if there had been even a cauldron of soup available a killing could have been made by hotel. A lost opportunity?

Having been on 5 Lochs and glens holidays, 2 at the Ardgartan, they continue to be excellent value for money. The hotel and rooms are spotless with spectualar views overlooking Loch long. There is a good choice of food and is all waiter/ress served. There is varied entertainment on every night with a reasonable price bar with very friendly staff who are a credit to lochs and glens. I would definitely recommend this hotel and have just booked a return trip beginning of october.

Having recently retired and as our foreign holidays have had to be postponed because of Covid restrictions, my wife and I plumped for a coach holiday through Lochs and Glens staying at the Ardgartan Hotel. We were not too sure what to expect but had an excellent time. The holiday included daily excursions although a planned trip on the Waverly paddle steamer could not proceed owing to Covid restrictions. Also the trip on the steamship Sir Walter Raleigh could not take place owing to its boiler having to be replaced. The staff at the hotel could not be faulted and were throughout our stay friendly and helpful. Lochs and Glens have its holiday timetables down to a fine art. Breakfast and dinner are in coach groups and timed to fit in nicely with the various day trips on offer. Generally breakfast was an hour before the trip started and dinner an hour after returning to the hotel. As each coach trip started and ended at different times the restaurant was never crowded. There was a good choice for breakfast and dinner. The food was always tasty and hot and presented very well. Our room was immaculate with a daily maid service. Our side of the hotel looked onto Loch Long but I think most rooms will have a view of the loch and the surrounding hills. Drinks at the bar were fairly priced, £3.50 for a pint of beer or lager. The only downside to the holiday was that my wife and I live in North Devon and the journey times were very long although the coach was extremely comfortable. This will probably preclude us from booking another coach holiday but we both hope to return to the Ardgartan Hotel on a self drive basis. We would also like to try the other Hotels that Lochs and Glens own. In summary, an excellent holiday at a lovely hotel for a reasonable price.

This hotel caters mainly for coach parties but during later lockdown it's doing a self drive package of a four night stay with dinner bed and breakfast included for £399 a couple. Despite what I'm going to say next, it really is very good value for money. When we were there the guests were nearly all retired people and we got the impression that many had been there before. We didn't feel out of place, we are both in our seventies. There are lots of good things about this hotel which previous reviews have mentioned; lovely location, friendly and professional staff, a large lounge for relaxing, comfortable bedrooms and reasonably priced drinks. However, we were very disappointed with the food. The menu was different each night but follows a formula of a meat option, a fish option, a vegetarian option or a salad option. There is little imagination and the meat option is usually a roast. I wasn't temped by the fish so it meant I had roast pork one night, roast turkey another night and roast chicken another night. I also had vegetable soup one night, green pea soup one night and lentil soup another night. Unfortunately, the soups all lacked flavour and tasted very much the same. The cheese option every night was a plate with a small piece of cheddar and a small piece of brie. Breakfast was the usual cooked affair but there was no fresh fruit on offer, no choice of yogurts or croissants. As I have said, the package was very good value for money but the food reflected this and we never saw anything like prawns or salmon. All in all we summed up the food as British, budget, bland and boring. It was what we would have expected from a hotel fifty years ago (starters such as chicken liver pate and egg mayonnaise, desserts like peach melba). It really wouldn't take a lot of imagination or money to improve it and give it some flavour. After seeing the menu we would have eaten out each night but the hotel is quite remote and this wasn't a viable option. Having booked this hotel on the basis of previous reviews saying how good it was and that the food was good, we were very disappointed.

Beautiful, peaceful setting in grounds of 50+ acres, on the shores of Loch Long, some 2 miles outside Arrochar. Hotel only built in last 20 years but has a tired feel to it. Rooms, public areas very spacious. We came on a Lochs & Glens coach trip, staying in this one of their own hotels in the area. The whole package is carefully thought out, from the moment the coach picks you up, and in our case drives you the 500+ miles to your destination, with appropriate motorway stops en route, to your hotel, allocation of rooms and delivery of luggage by very helpful staff to specific breakfast and dinner times, dependent on excursion departure and arrival times. Value for money is an understatement - yes, this may seem somewhat regimented and the food is perhaps limited in choice and culinary finesse. BUT the coaches are new (washed every evening), the drivers are excellent, very experienced and knowledgeable (we had Brian), there is entertainment every evening and the bar prices are very reasonable. If your expectations are rather less 5star luxury and service and more value for money, with a comprehensive visit to this part of Scotland then this is the tour for you.

This must count as the worst 5 rated hotel anywhere. I have stayed in 3 rated hotels and motels around the world which offer better accommodation, service and food. I visited with a Lochs and Glens coach tour and it was like being back at school- told when you were allowed to eat, told where to sit and who you had to sit with. The food was reminiscent of school meals with tinned vegetables, pre-sliced meat in gravy and synthetic cream. A request for fresh fruit at breakfast was dismissed with the quote "it's not in the budget". The room was very sparsely furnished (with chairs having holes in the upholstery) and looked like something from the 1980s. No room service. No nuts or olives available to purchase for a pre-dinner snack. At one point there was a 14 hour gap between meals so completely unsuitable for a diabetic. Nothing else within walking distance as an alternative. AVOID AT ALL COST.

This is an exceptionally well managed hotel which runs like clockwork and we very much enjoyed our stay here.. The manager is a very visable presence and he leads by example - not being above working in the restaurant at busy times and responding to queries at the reception desk. The staff all know what they should be doing and they do it cheerfully, they all seem to really enjoy their job and are unfailingly polite and kind. The menus change daily and there is plenty of choice including a vegetarian option, making this a very good value for money break. I would recommend this hotel which is in a stunning setting and would like to think that we might return there one day. The only downside - those pesky Scottish midges !!

My wife and I stayed in the Ardgartan hotel as part of a Lochs & Glens tour. This was the first time we'd travelled with them, and from start to finish it was like a well oiled machine. The drivers were very knowledgeable, and knew everything about Scottish history. The hotel was fantastic, situated at the end of loch Long. The rooms were very comfortable, lovely beds, tea making facilities etc, and it had lovely views of the loch. The foyer was great with a massive window showing a panoramic view of the loch. The food was great, and the waiters would call you in by your coach numbers, in order of who was leaving first, the service was first class. We had great entertainment in the evening, young girls in their kilts doing highland dancing to singers, singing Scottish folk songs, altogether a fantastic holiday, and not forgetting the fantastic staff who make the hotel great.

Excellent understates how good a hotel this is. We stayed here, like most, on a Lochs and Glens coaching holiday, Where to start. Our room, 204, overlooked Loch Long giving a delightful view. It was spacious with comfortable beds and a practical bathroom. When we first entered our room the shower curtain was missing. Within 15 minutes of reporting it had been put up. The breakfasts and main evening meals were exceptional good with a varied menu selection for mains in the evening. The staggered sittings allowed smooth and prompt table service. The bar was well stocked and I would recommend the Loch Fyne bottled beer. My favourite was Avalanche. The free teas and coffees in the entertainment area after the evening meal was a nice touch and the evening entertainment was most enjoyable loved it here. A special word to for the genuine warm and friendly staff in all roles. The whole place is run with military efficiency but in such a friendly manner. We would not hesitate a moment to stay here again.

Really enjoyed our stay here despite the weather. Lochs & Glens like many other businesses right now have staff shortages but despite this the fantastic well organised team here most guests didn't notice. The staff are a credit to the company, from the Drivers to the waiting staff and the cleaners every member of staff went the extra mile to keep their guests happy.

You expect to use WiFi you can only get onto it in reception. Reception staff say not all rooms have WiFi, they can't say which do. Manager no help whatsoever. You have work on computer to do make sure you book a room you can work in. I couldn't even relax reading using Kindle. Before booking either ring or check website to see if website in your room. Only poor staff on reception, rest can't help you enough.
