Location: Very good. Barely 5 minutes from train station and Tourist Information. Pleasant environment. Facilities: No lift. Liquid shower gel and shampoo provided in dispenser bottles. Fan in the room. Very conveniently has a gastropub downstairs. Room: Rooms 1 to 6 are in the main building above the reception and gastropub, with Rooms 1, 2 and 3 on one side of the corridor with windows facing the street. Spacious and clean. More rooms in another section on the other side of stairs (another wing?). Service: Very friendly and helpful. At reception, there is a plaque with Night Porter’s contact details.

Stayed at the Loch Lomond Hotel with a friend for 2 days after purchasing an Itison deal. We did ask to move room after arriving as there was a noise from a kitchen extractor outside the rooms window. Our request was dealt with in an extremely friendly manner and we were moved to another room which was comfortable, clean and quite cosy. The room facilities were fairly good, with a good sized tv, decent hospitality tray and a table and two comfortable chairs. The windows were large and allowed plenty of natural light in and there were good blackout curtains. The beds were very comfortable and there was a bath with a powerful and warm shower. We had a meal in the hotel Bistro/Bar which was a pleasant environment and had a relaxed atmosphere. The food was good quality pub type fair which was well cooked and tasty. They had a decent wine selection and a nice range of Cocktails were available. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and pleasant , especially the lady at breakfast who was a little ray of sunshine. My Gluten free breakfast was plentiful and very tasty on both mornings when I ordered it. Balloch itself was very nice and there were a good range of nice pubs and restaurants to try. There’s plenty to do and explore in the area and we enjoyed our boat trip which left from a pier which was very close to the hotel. There were also plenty of walking trails and a country park and gardens. Overall a very enjoyable and great value short break 😊.…

Reasonable stay. Bed is okay but a little on the firm side. Stairs not lifts so getting to the second floor with suitcases for older folk is not so much fun. Restaurant and bar on site though we didn’t eat here. The menu does look good but there is a really great Italian next door.

We are local to Loch Lomond Hotel and visit regularly, I can highly recommend, whether it's for a drink or a bite to eat. Des and his team always offer a warm welcome, a good atmosphere and excellent customer service. Keep up the good work.

Arrived early, having travelled from the Highlands and was given no leeway on check-in time. We were put on the top floor and had to be moved to a lower floor due to my husband's asthma. I found a long hair on his plate of toast at breakfast and got an "oh dear" in response. Fire alarms went off at 1.15am, red lights flashing and alarm screeching in the room, only to be told by the night porter that a guest had been smoking at a side door, again, no apology. Hoovering in the breakfast room while guests were eating breakfast and putting up Halloween decorations around guests eating lunch. Only saving grace is the clean, spacious room. No views, so don't expect to see Loch Lomond unless you go out. We won't be back.

Response from David McCowan, Other at Loch Lomond Hotel
Responded 30 Oct 2023
We offer early check ins if notified and paid for in advance so our housekeeping can prepare accordingly. You / your agent would have booked a specific room. When customers book direct with us, as opposed to using a 3rd part booking agent, we can listen to their requests and ensure they are given appropriate rooms. I.e. not get a top floor room for someone that has difficulty walking up stairs. Unfortunately we find many people use 3rd party travel bookings sites which do not offer the same customer service levels that we can provide when they book direct with us. We do not apologise for having a working fire alarm. Would you rather sleep in an hotel where the fire alarm was defective? yours sincerely

Comfortable bed, clean, very quiet, close to the railway station, great food! I want to particularly say how much we appreciated the staff at the restaurant and especially the hotel manager, Des. Des was welcoming, witty, and went out of his way to help us resolve our traveler needs

We stayed last Friday 13 th to celebrate our wedding anniversary. First impression didn’t start well when we asked reception when booking in for chocolate strawberry’s for our room and was told they don’t do them ?? Headed to Scots bar for lunch which is lovely and was really looking forward to the lobster roll after 20 minutes said they can’t do it been an issue in the kitchen ? Our waitress was Shannon and she was so lovely , I said that’s fine but any way chef could do some chocolate strawberries for room ? Shannon said she would do her best . The pastry chef did try but said as the strawberry’s were small he couldn’t sell these to us but I loved the fact he tried. They later sent comp chocolates to our room. Shannon is a real asset to the hotel and enjoyed having a chat with her and she also sent us a couple of glasses of champagne as we were celebrating our anniversary. Thank you Room was nice with a view of the lake . Later had dinner at the Grill as was looking forward to having lobster and it was fantastic. While having dinner restaurant manager came over and gave us to complementary cocktail vouchers for Scots bar which again was really kind . Breakfast was also really nice with complementary Prosecco ! I felt this hotel really made us feel special and would definitely recommend. …

The hotel itself is clean and modern, however, if you want to sleep you can forget it. The rooms are stiflingly hot, all night, even at 2am when I was stood at the window trying to cool off (about 11 degrees outside). The windows only open about 3 inches (health and safety,I understand) but there is no air con as I understand the owners refuse to install it. Instead they give you 2 fans in the rooms which just move the hot air about. It was so hot I actually considered sleeping in my car! Don't bother complaining as the owners aren't interested in the slightest, they clearly just want your money and once you're gone don't care if you return... It's Loch Lomond so there are plenty of tourists. Room 201 is just above the kitchen,I particularly enjoyed the noise of the extractor that the kitchen staff forgot to turn off at the end of service at 20:30. The night porter finally did it at 22:00 when he came in. At breakfast they ran out of bacon an hour before the end of service (many reviews say this). My partners breakfast came out with an egg that looked like it had been sat on, the yolk had broken so the chef just cooked it and sent it anyway. I actually took the time to email the owners about the heat issue in the rooms. Unsurprisingly they haven't bothered to even give me the courtesy of a reply. Apparently the owners don't feel my complaints are worth anything and the £194 I paid for the night was well worth almost no sleep, Balloch house is much better, or Queen of the Loch. Most reviews for this place seem to be for food only.…
