Stayed at the Loch Lomond Hotel with a friend for 2 days after purchasing an Itison deal.
We did ask to move room after arriving as there was a noise from a kitchen extractor outside the rooms window. Our request was dealt with in an extremely friendly manner and we were moved to another room which was comfortable, clean and quite cosy. The room facilities were fairly good, with a good sized tv, decent hospitality tray and a table and two comfortable chairs. The windows were large and allowed plenty of natural light in and there were good blackout curtains. The beds were very comfortable and there was a bath with a powerful and warm shower.
We had a meal in the hotel Bistro/Bar which was a pleasant environment and had a relaxed atmosphere. The food was good quality pub type fair which was well cooked and tasty. They had a decent wine selection and a nice range of Cocktails were available.
All of the staff we encountered were friendly and pleasant , especially the lady at breakfast who was a little ray of sunshine. My Gluten free breakfast was plentiful and very tasty on both mornings when I ordered it.
Balloch itself was very nice and there were a good range of nice pubs and restaurants to try. There’s plenty to do and explore in the area and we enjoyed our boat trip which left from a pier which was very close to the hotel. There were also plenty of walking trails and a country park and gardens.
Overall a very enjoyable and great value short break 😊.

Room Tip: We moved from room 201 due to extractor fan noise. Apparently this goes off after kitchen...

Excellent family room with private access off the car park so easy in/out with luggage all at street level. The biggest surprise was that the room had TWO bathrooms, needing to wait for each other to shower or wash hands etc when another needs to do something is often frustrating so was delighted to find this room had 2 bathrooms, absolutely unheard of in hotels. Clean, presentable, plenty of natural light, no step access, the WiFi worked fine. Warmly welcomed on check-in and invited to book breakfast/dinner with them, check out was simply leave the key...wonderful stay and a shame it wasn't for more than 1 night. Comfortable and good value for money and a 2 minute walk to the Country Park to stretch legs and visit quiet spots of Loch Lomond. Would highly recommend and return if in the area again.

The hotel itself looked beautiful as we arrived, we first met some work men outside who were very kind and pointed to where we needed to be. They were doing some light maintaining of the car park and not intrusive, the staff inside were very helpful and friendly. Des checked our room was ready and gave us a few instructions as to meal times and had us checked in in no time. We could enter our room either from the internal hotel or through another door that was straight on the car park, ideal for unloading our bags, wow the room, all four of us were impressed and very pleased, we had booked a beautiful family room, we had four amazingly comfortable beds and two bathrooms. We have a shower room at home so the glee at the thoughts of a nice bath was perfect, the baths filled nicely with perfect temperatured water, lots of bubble bath was supplied, and it was heaven, we all slept amazingly the mattresses were very comfortable and the bedding was perfect, even for October we didn’t require any heating, black out curtains did the job, it was a big room with plenty space and we never felt hindered in there being four of us, tea and coffee supplies was plenty, with the addition of a selection of biscuits, the WiFi was spot on, three of us attended breakfast the menu was plenty full, and the food was amazing, well worth the money, service was again perfect, the whole stay was enjoyable, and we wouldn’t hesitate in returning and recommending this place, beautiful surroundings and a part of Scotland I adore… I would give this place a mega star rating, perfection was achieved by all the staff many thanks xxx

The room was good but was over priced given the location and the advertised wi-fi didn’t work in a room located towards the back of the property. I was expecting more given the price charged. For older people there isn’t an elevator so hauling a suitcase up 2 flights of stairs might be challenging. Also, the booking agent doesn’t list the street address number, so finding the hotel was a challenge as the hotel sign at street level is blocked by foliage. The hotel only started serving breakfast at 8:30 so anyone looking to get an early start has to find breakfast somewhere else.

The hotel itself is clean and modern, however, if you want to sleep you can forget it. The rooms are stiflingly hot, all night, even at 2am when I was stood at the window trying to cool off (about 11 degrees outside). The windows only open about 3 inches (health and safety,I understand) but there is no air con as I understand the owners refuse to install it. Instead they give you 2 fans in the rooms which just move the hot air about.
It was so hot I actually considered sleeping in my car!
Don't bother complaining as the owners aren't interested in the slightest, they clearly just want your money and once you're gone don't care if you return... It's Loch Lomond so there are plenty of tourists.
Room 201 is just above the kitchen,I particularly enjoyed the noise of the extractor that the kitchen staff forgot to turn off at the end of service at 20:30. The night porter finally did it at 22:00 when he came in.
At breakfast they ran out of bacon an hour before the end of service (many reviews say this). My partners breakfast came out with an egg that looked like it had been sat on, the yolk had broken so the chef just cooked it and sent it anyway.
I actually took the time to email the owners about the heat issue in the rooms. Unsurprisingly they haven't bothered to even give me the courtesy of a reply.
Apparently the owners don't feel my complaints are worth anything and the £194 I paid for the night was well worth almost no sleep,
Balloch house is much better, or Queen of the Loch.
Most reviews for this place seem to be for food only.

Yes, the hotel has and is undergoing refurbishment. Don’t be put off by that! It’s just the restaurant area. The rooms are well furnished and spacious enough. En suites are compact but well appointed. Very clean throughout. A couple of minutes walk to the Loch and park. Beds are large and very comfortable. There is a downside (or two!). We stayed on a Saturday night. We found a great place to eat that evening just a stone’s throw away. However leaving for our early start on Sunday there was nowhere open before 10am for breakfast. We had a front
facing room on a very hot night. We had the windows open and unfortunately the bar opposite had live
Music, disco and hen & stag parties until past 2am. With the window closed it was mostly soundproof but the hot room meant that wasn’t an option and the several available fans were all taken. Limited sleep and no breakfast - a bit grumpy!
Think £120 per night slightly overpriced for room without bar or food facilities. Maybe this should be reduced until available and / or arrangements made with adjacent cafes to provide a breakfast package?

Arrived early, having travelled from the Highlands and was given no leeway on check-in time. We were put on the top floor and had to be moved to a lower floor due to my husband's asthma. I found a long hair on his plate of toast at breakfast and got an "oh dear" in response. Fire alarms went off at 1.15am, red lights flashing and alarm screeching in the room, only to be told by the night porter that a guest had been smoking at a side door, again, no apology. Hoovering in the breakfast room while guests were eating breakfast and putting up Halloween decorations around guests eating lunch. Only saving grace is the clean, spacious room. No views, so don't expect to see Loch Lomond unless you go out. We won't be back.

Response from David McCowan, Other at Loch Lomond Hotel
Responded 30 Oct 2023
We offer early check ins if notified and paid for in advance so our housekeeping can prepare accordingly. You / your agent would have booked a specific room. When customers book direct with us, as opposed to using a 3rd part booking agent, we can listen to their requests and ensure they are given appropriate rooms. I.e. not get a top floor room for someone that has difficulty walking up stairs. Unfortunately we find many people use 3rd party travel bookings sites which do not offer the same customer service levels that we can provide when they book direct with us. We do not apologise for having a working fire alarm. Would you rather sleep in an hotel where the fire alarm was defective? yours sincerely

Gifted an itison voucher to use and when booking advised only 2 dogs could stay in a room. We have 3. Husband booked a room seperately, though to wind me up he'd advised he'd camp nearby with 1 or all dogs(Balloch having many camping places and his military job giving him a mountain of experience in camping). Explained that only 2 dogs would be in any 1 room repeatedly to staff in writing over email at least 10 times. However reservation staff were rude, unhelpful, advised I wouldn't be welcome and refuse to refund voucher although they are in breach of contract by refusing to take the booking. Husband had to cancel his room which had been prepaid though that was refunded. Only reason given for refusal was "we think 3 dogs will be in the room". No complaints procedure, refuse to provide the hotel manager or owners name. Avoid at all costs. Ingleston Equestrian Centre at Bishopton across the bridge a 20 minute journey is probably a much better option for the area. Booked a lodge there instead with no hassle and at a reasonable price. Customer service is second to none and the hotel itself is much more luxurious with similar prices. The voucher was supposed to be a treat from family, however it's the worse experience I've had to date.

The room itself was fine but this is not a place to stay if you actually want to sleep! It’s attached to a pub with lots of loud music and noise and people smoking outside the room until 1am! It’s so loud you can hear music properly and people’s conversations outside of the room. There’s also no room on the car park. The food was also incredibly greasy and mostly inedible! Would avoid in future!
