Nestled in a prime location, the Queen Of The Loch hotel is celebrated for its scenic setting and convenient access to local amenities, making it an ideal choice for various travelers. The establishment boasts spotless and cozy rooms, though some guests suggest the linen could be refreshed more frequently. While the hotel's amenities, including the family-friendly environment and dining options, are well-received, a few travelers mention subpar Wi-Fi. The inviting atmosphere is frequently applauded, yet opinions on service and value show a divide, with reports of both commendable staff and instances of slow service, alongside mixed reviews on pricing and quality.

Queen of the Loch is a pub AND a hotel, seperate buildings sharing parking and address, run by same company. And if you are reading this you are in the hotel review section - which begs the question, why are there so many reviews about lunch which should be in the pub listing!!!??

First, assuming you are booking before arrival check the direct booking price on the company website because this week it was £5 per night cheaper than any of the "usual suspects". But more than that, if you do book direct you get 20% off food in the pub (not breakfast) - make sure your registration form is stamped for this.

Reception is in the pub. Once into the bedroom it was a good size, clean, well lit and warm. Good bathroom with bath and shower. The bed was really comfortable. The wifi worked well enough. The TV may have been waiting for a digital channel update because some were missing (BBC2 is not a niche channel, not even in Scotland...). Only niggle with the room is that the heating is from an a/c unit which at 3 in the morning realised it was getting a little cool and switched itself on, too noisy to sleep until it calmed down, why not just have the same heaters as in the corridors?

Breakfast is not included in the room price. It says that when booking and there is a card in the room explaining the 4 simple pricing levels - so why do people get confused? Read it and stop wasting the time of the staff!!! Breakfast is served in the pub and the Classic option was good for the price. If you read the card you will also see a free breakfast for kids under 12 option.

Location is perfect for A82 (use the roundabout signposted for Stirling not the one for Alexandria) but far enough away to not hear it. And less than 10 minutes walk from railway station (train every 30 minutes from Glasgow, exit station, turn left on main road, cross over, it's on the right at first roundabout) and the village centre.

We arrived a little early before check in as we weren't sure of weather. Met by a cocky individual who was abrupt and unhelpful, however another staff member came passed and was very helpful and offered storage for cases and did the paperwork.
A large car park to, the rooms are a very short walk from the pub area where meals are served
Rooms very clean, and basic but comfortable, tea and coffee supplied.
Staff generally very helpful and pleasant and the service time was good but it's not very nice when serving ect for individuals chewing gum when serving and talking.
We ate here and the food was generally good, but my very first experience was not brilliant, the worst prawn cocktail I've ever had, On bed of lettuce which was awfully iffy, brown at the edges, a very watery sauce and came without cucumber as advertised. The cob it was to come with was a slice of bread served with solid butter that would never spread for a long time, little thought. That aside the rest of our food for the stay of 3 nights was good as was breakfast.
In good location for the bottom end of the loch.
We're not people who want 5 star for 3 star value, it just needs a little work on the edges that make a difference.
Value for money? Yes, it wasn't unpleasant at all just a bit of care at the edges.

We visited the Queen of the Loch numerous times over our stay because the food was reasonably priced, very tasty and served by warm friendly staff. Plus it is dog friendly nad made us all welcome. It has a comfortable atmosphere and us easily accessed by foot and car. We didn't stay in the hotel we had a campervan.

We stayed two nights at The Queen of the Loch, which is perfectly situated for visiting Balloch and the surrounding areas on Loch Lomond. It was a few minutes walk to the Shores with its shopping area, cafes and leisure options, such as the Sea Life Aquarium and Bird of Prey Centre.

Check in was very quick and easy in the bar area, with a dedicated desk for the Inn.
Rooms are modern, clean and quite spacious, with plenty of space for two adults and all our luggage. We would have preferred better quality 'pliable' pillows than the firm foam provided, but that's purely personal preference.
The over bath shower had great water pressure and stayed at even temperature throughout.

The room was surprisingly quiet overnight, despite being on the road and we were able to leave the window open for some air circulation as it was quite warm.
Breakfast is served at the restaurant, with a great choice of cooked items and continental options. The food was excellent quality, and great value.
We would definitely opt to stay again if visiting the Loch Lomond area.

We stayed at the Queen of the Loch last weekend for 2 nights, it was our first visit and we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Our room was very clean and fresh and handily placed at the entrance door on the lower floor. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom had a decent sized bath with a shower that had excellent pressure.

Queen of the Loch was built about 7 years ago by Marston’s and has a very nice Inn just a few yards away. It served decent food and drinks. The location is good as well, with only a 10-15 minute walk to Lomond Shores Shopping Centre and some nice bars and restaurants in Balloch. There was plenty of car parking spaces as well.

We were very impressed with the Queen of the Loch and would certainly stay here again when visiting Balloch.

We arrived after a 5 and a half hour drive from South Yorkshire on Friday evening. We wanted a good meal before checking into our room. The pub didn't disappoint, though we were slightly confused on arrival as we thought the pub would be bar service. We weren't sure what the covid rules are in Scotland. This should have been clarified as we were seated. Anyway, when the food arrived we were very impressed. The burger was delicious, the lasagne was too, and the chips were just perfect. We took two slices of cake to our room which were very nice too.

Our room was small and basic but comfy. Certainly no frills. We would have liked drinking glasses as we like to take a glass of water to bed but we used the tea cups instead. We stayed two nights and the room was made up by housekeeping between the two nights, which we weren't expecting, and a nice surprise. They changed the towels, which wasn't really necessary - we were quite willing to use the towels twice. There was air con in the room which was a nice touch. The bed was very comfy.

Breakfast was well catered for. First morning I had a croissant which was a little chewy, it didn't taste fresh. It had a strange texture for a croissant. Second morning I had an English breakfast. The elements of this were all satisfactory, good but nothing to write home about.

Service was attentive and efficient. The whole place seemed very well looked after. We had two very good nights sleep.

Never stayed in a Marston’s hotel before but would again in a pinch.

The accommodation is separate to the pub which is good for noise, but check in is in the pub itself.

My room card failed 4 times in the 48 hours I was there but the staff kept fixing it each time.

Rooms are generally small but well formed with everything as expected. Minus an iron which in this day and age is annoying.

Bathroom a good sized and shower had good pressure. Products were very good and I may be a convert to Dove products!

Breakfast is table service which delays your departure but acceptable.

Pub obviously serves food. The same food every other Marston’s pub serves so generally a good selection and the carvery veg was ropey as always.

The best part of the stay is the staff. They were all, actually friendly and nice. All of them. Rare indeed. So well done to them!

This was a small pit stop during our travels through Scotland. We checked in via the restaurant and we were given two rooms that were quite clean, although I am not sure the coffee tray was seen to properly as there were coffee drops on the side of one of the mugs. Not a big thing.

We decided to eat at the restaurant and we were greeted by a waiter and sat down immediately. There were no menus, so we asked and the waiter said 'I did tell you to help yourself at the entrance'. He didn't, but got them for us nonetheless.

We opted for the carvery, slightly dry on the meat, but otherwise very good value for money.

When it came to dessert, our friend mentioned a nut allergy. Traces are fine, actual nuts are not. He ordered the sticky toffee pudding while mentioning this. Then the dessert took some time to arrive. A waiter came by and explained the delay was due to not knowing the allergy information for the pudding and could am alternative be offered to be on the safe side. My friend opted for a sundae instead.

Then 2 minutes later, the sticky toffee pudding appeared! By this time, my friend was confused and wasn't sure whether to eat the dessert or not. The waitress assured him it only contained traces and it would be fine. After a few questions, my friend accepted the sticky toffee pudding and it was fine.

We had a good night's sleep and breakfast was also very delicious. There was a slight issue with a remote control that wouldn't turn our TV off, but this was quickly resolved with a replacement remote.

I would stay here again, but I think the staff need to look into allergy requirements of their guests a bit more.

Popped in for lunch as the restaurant said dog friendly. Great value - 2 good portioned main meals for £12 and 2 drinks, wine and beer for £5. Best of all was a bowl of water brought for our dog and a plate of scraps from the carvery. He definitely recommends Queen of the Loch!

We had the pleasure of staying here for 4 nights. The room ( no 1) was clean and spotless ( apart from the hairdryer guys, dirty).Bed was super comfy so we both slept very well. There are 3 times for breakfast sittings which is a good thing for cutting down on the room being full. We opted for 10am after being informed it was the quietest time and it was, even tho cov-id measures are enforced it's always better with fewer people these days. The breakfast is freshly cooked and very tasty, apart from one morning when we had a problem. After speaking with Danielle this problem was 'smoothed over '( thanks danielle). Thanks also to Bethany and Paula for excellent service. We had 1 evening meal here and again it was very tasty and freshly cooked. If ever up this way we would have no problem staying at the " queen" again.

Is there a luggage storage room available to leave luggage prior to check in time?
Answer from steve8482
United Kingdom4,517 contributions6 helpful votes
Doubt it, the hotel part is self contained with key card entry and no staff other than cleaners. This is not a full service hotel, it competes with Premier Inn. Check-in is done in the pub a few yards away, they tend to prefer advance payment to save time. Depends on how early you are and how busy they were previous night but they might let you in early but if it's important best to phone, avoid lunch time! I don't know what earliest check in is, I was so badly delayed getting there it didn't affect me! But the room was quiet and warm (it was snowing) and the bed extremely comfortable.
