Balmaha Bunkhouse is situated in an excellent location, right in the heart of the village and is easily accessible for hikers on the West Highland Way. As a functional bunkhouse - for those on a modest budget - this is extremely good value accommodation, and the rooms and facilities are in far better condition than many other bunkhouse / hostel...

Having read the reviews and stayed at the bunkhouse, I would say it depends on what you are looking for as to whether it's a good idea to stay here. Jock is certainly a man of rules and if he decides he likes you as he clearly has with some guests I am sure he can be very nice. He...

We stayed in Balmaha for one night on our fist day on WHW. We shared our 4 bed room with a lovely german lady. The bunkhouse was full and we met some gerat people and thanks to great living room/kitchen we could sit and share excitements of the day. However, we all arrived after a day of walking in the...

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Gwen and I are pleased you found the facilities adequate for your needs, other than the lack of drying facilities. It clearly states on our brochure, which is shown on our web site and is sent to potential guests who send in a booking enquiry, that there are limited Laundry facilities but there is...

Surly and rude staff, booked to hire a canoe and then arrived later that day to find no recollection of the booking and rude staff basically telling me to get lost and a sarcastic response when I asked why they thought they hadn't got my booking. Avoid

Sir: I find it Sad to receive reviews from people that: 1. Do not plan 2. Don't care or disregard Safety 3. Don't bother to read our TCs 4. Feel the need to moan, when they do not get what they want when they want it. For Info To go out on my boats you must have working mobile communication,...

Stayed here with friends on a road trip through Scotland. An amazing location with stunning views, close to the activities we wanted to do. We received a warm welcome and intro to the accommodation with a lesson in the Scottish language a bonus. Good local restaurants/cafe or you can use the facilities. Recommended.

Actually, my wife and I stayed in September 2014. So, this month marks the second anniversary of our three-day stay on Loch Lomond at Balmaha House. Ours was a long-awaited trip, and we chose the chalet. What a joy it was! Enough so that we remember it most fondly each anniversary of our stay. Jock and Gwen were welcoming hosts,...

Excellent location and services. Right on Loch Lomond, fair prices, local bus station, pub/restautant, ice cream shop and shop for small items (e.g milk, chocolate, cereal etc...) BB also offers whole day hire of kayaks for an excellent price. Jock gives a safety talk and then lets you be. Lovely walks available along the loch or behind up to Conic...
