Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I just cannot understand all the negative comments on here from walkers and non residents etc. The hotel is basically for the Lochs and Glens coaching holidays. Non residents and walkers can still enter the hotel but through a different route, to save muddy boots etc. A room has been provided where you can even eat your own food and there is plenty of outside space. The poor staff here do their utmost to accommodate and make your stay a good one. The hotel is lovely with plenty of character! Please stop moaning !

I stayed at the Inversnaid Hotel in August 2021 with family (part of a Lochs & Glens coach trip).

The staff here from start to finish are really helpful and polite, nothing too much trouble.

The room itself was perfect, I had a single room and it was spotless - daily maid cleaning is as standard but you can of course put out the do not disturb sign if you don't want it. Finding the room first time can be slightly confusing but once you've been to it you'll be fine.

With our coach trip (assume not standard for all stops at this hotel), the cases are brought to your room and then collected the morning that you check out.

The meals were fantastic, 3 courses with a varying choice each night and again with great service.

Entertainment in the evening was a mix of singers with and without various instruments (keyboards for example), but all are also very funny and interact with the crowd.

At the bar prices are very reasonable and service is quick and efficient.

There was also a quiz sheet each day which you can complete and hand in at reception, with a small prize for the winners.

Access by road is not easy, with miles of winding single track road. However it has its own little docking area for the ferry which takes you across Loch Lomond and back, at the other end is a car and coach park where the old power station is with the tunnels up the hill, you can't miss it!

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for a stop in the Loch Lomond area of Scotland, genuinely can't think of a problem with it and would happily return.

My friend and I stayed at the Inversnaid Hotel on a Lochs and Glens coach holiday from 28 February to 3 March. The food was very good and the rooms clean and comfortable. The only problem was that the lift did not serve our side of the building and there were several flights of stairs which I found a challenge. The staff were very polite and obliging. Because the jetty was flooded we were unable to cross the loch for our daily outings . The coach therefore had to use the alternate single track road with passing places. Unfortunately , one snowy day a car ended up in a ditch and the road was therefore too narrow for a coach to pass. Our driver rang the hotel and the staff came in their own cars to ferry the , by then ,two coach loads of passengers back to the hotel. There was tea and coffee waiting for us when we finally arrived.

We were staying on the other side of Loch Lomond and took a boat cruise across to Inversnaid which advertised that as well as the beautiful scenery we could get lunch at the hotel. We entered the beautiful buiding, and bought drinks in the beautiful bar (which was vast and empty) - no sooner had we paid than we were told to leave the room. Because we were not "residents" staying over night, we could sit in a tiny crowded room with ugly benches. Only "residents" were allowed to sit in the bar. When I expressed my surprise that as paying customers we were not allowed to sit in the bar, the jobsworthy attendant simply asked "Are you a resident?". I felt treated like a lepper

What a waste. A badly organised and inhospitable team which ruins a lovely setting and building.
Food was well advertised as being available for walkers until 2:30 but at 1:50, we were told no food was available, not even sandwiches.
Walkers were segregated sensibly from hotel guests but then forced to remove boots and wander through the hotel areas to pee or order which must put off guests.
A large boat of 50 people was turned away as well as all the walkers. There are no alternative places to eat. Why on earth don’t the owners of this attractive looking place get there act together and stop letting people down.
For the avoidance of doubt, this is far from a one-off occurrence and if we could stop somewhere else in the area we would.
The simplest solution would be to build some toilets for walkers and then let a concession which would serve walkers like the excellent and simple set up at the King’s House hotel.
Meanwhile do not rely on this rude and annoying place to satisfy your needs

I stayed one night, thank goodness it was only one night! No lift and no one to help move my case upstairs, I think they put me on the highest floor furthest away from civilisation however it all became very clear very quickly, I stayed whilst walking the WHW, yes I was a dreaded”Walker”! The hotel probably has going on for 100 rooms, sits directly on the WHW but hotel policy is even if every room is vacant only 2 rooms are rented to walkers! Walkers are not allowed to buy food even if they were to strip naked of damp clothes! The hotel is also woefully understaffed, I was honoured to be allowed breakfast a very limited breakfast there were about 3 coach parties staying the staff served breakfast like a well practiced army and were all very cheerful. It reminded me of the old Butlins dining rooms back in the early 70’s. I had considered doing a coach tour holiday but after seeing this no I think I’ll stick to being one of those pesky walkers that the hotel higherarchy dislike so much!

On our third day of the West Highland Way, we made it to the Inversnaid Hotel as we were starting to tire after close to 20km walking with heavy backpacks. On arrival, at approximately 6pm, we were greeted with a lovely hotel setting, surrounded by a picturesque view.

The hotel itself appeared to be well set-up for hikers, with a nicely decorated room at the side of the hotel containing long bench seats and electricity ports to charge phones etc. It also had a large side-room to leave walking poles and backpacks.

Unfortunately, the greeting received was far from befitting of the building itself. Boots were to be taken off before entry, which was completely understandable.
What is hard to fathom was that the bar staff were sitting in the bar, rather than working behind it. Even more unconscionable was that the hotel staff informed us that they did not do any food, NOTHING!

Have you ever heard of a hotel that doesn't do food at 6pm? We bought a couple of drinks and made it wearily on our way.

This place is beautiful! Right next to the waterfall and looking on to Loch Lomond, it doesn’t take its location for granted. We stopped after 7.5 miles on the West Highland Way - so happy to see how this place caters for walkers! There’s a lovely area to leave your boots and backpacks should you wish, loads of seating inside and out. A tap to fill up your water bottle. Beautifully decorated and absolutely spotlessly clean. Spoke to a few of the young staff as I ordered cokes and delicious homemade cakes - they were faultlessly charming and helpful!

A quick stopover that made us want to go back to stay. Hotel beautiful and perfectly positioned.

I have never given a bad review before but felt compelled to let other walkers know that theyre not welcome here. We are doing the West Highland Way and after a long walk the book recommends that you stop for refreshments here. There was NO food for walkers! not even a bowl of chips or a cold sandwich. We have had more hospitality from the little honesty boxes. Ive never seen so many disappointed walkers. Walkers please give your custom to the bunkhouse quarter of a mile up the hill.

We stopped there for sandwich and coffee. The coffee was small cup of lukewarm frothy water from a machine, this was not reflected in the price. After 30 minutes I went in pursuit of our sandwiches which still hadn't arrived - the reason given for the delay was that at a lunchtime they are busy?! This might also explain the half cooked chips! The decor of the hotel is tired and not very appealing. Although the surrounding area is beautiful and the views spectacular there are far nicer hotels nearby

I've only been to Inversnaid but I would highly recommend it! It usually shuts end of October until around Easter, it's had to shut early this year due to staffing issues however if you can get in there in 2022 go for it!
