Nestled in a serene setting with picturesque scenery, Loch Tay Highland Lodges is lauded for its tranquil location and proximity to captivating areas. Accommodations offer a variety of peaceful lodgings with appreciated amenities like hot tubs, although some guests point out Wi-Fi and cleanliness shortcomings. The park is really great to stay in, lots of activities and things to do around. Lovely view on the loch tay with spectacular view of the mountains. The lodge we stayed in is the osprey. Despite the lodge having only one bathroom it still was extremely comfortable to sleep and enjoy the location. It is considered to be small in terms of size however the surrounding compensates for everything. Beds are really comfortable and the bathroom is spacious with a good strong shower. All what you need is inside the lodge and maybe my only comment is attention should be given to the status of the kitchen utensils and pans. Everything we needed was inside the lodge. The lodge has a satellite tv which was good and a good size TV. Very clean and well arranged in addition the number of windows made it easy for air flow. The downside maybe is the type of wifi and the fact you have to pay for it. Even if you buy it can not be used for gaming for your kids. I will certainly go back either to the same lodge or the new lodge at the loch side which my family were occupying.

Hi Mahdi M, Thank you for your review! We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay @ Loch Tay! I will pass your comments onto the team regarding the utensils etc in the lodge and have these looked at. Due to our location the wifi is not reliable I am afraid especially with the wet/windy weather we have been having and not strong enough for streaming. We look forward to welcoming you again on another trip!

Beautiful lodge in a quiet stunning destination. We stayed in a signature lodge but we didn’t have a good view of the loch which was why I paid the bit more so next time would request specific lodge in a better placement. We booked in a non pet friendly lodge but were surrounded by dogs as the cabins next to us were pet friendly which was a bit confusing, albeit they were pretty well behaved. It was very quiet and peaceful and we weren’t disturbed at all. Lodge was clean and cosy inside once we learnt how to get the log burner going. (From London so not used to working such things haha!) I would recommend a page in the welcome booklet with directions for use. Boathouse was good value and staff were all friendly.
Was in a great location, lots of cool surrounding areas to visit, we managed to visit a lot of places within 1.5 hr drives away from lodge. Falls of Dochart were a lovely surprise and lots of beautiful and friendly golf courses if you fancy a little road trip.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
We had booked two lodges for a family gathering to celebrate our daughter's fiftieth birthday. After careful selection of suitable lodges we chose and booked by telephone two lodges which were adjacent and would allow the whole family [11 people] to gather in the larger one.
On arrival, were given the keys to the larger lodge but the other chosen one was not available and we were offered another which was not at all close to the other. This was very disappointing after all the careful planning. The friendly staff were very apologetic and couldn't fully understand how the mix-up had come about.
To the credit of a lady called Jo Barrie [apparently in charge] we were offered other accommodations and managed to get three two-bedroom lodges in very close proximity to each other. Jo also offered a complimentary main meal in the Boathouse Restaurant for all of our party - representing a substantial cost to the company. We were very impressed by the way Jo handled the problem.
The lodges were of a very high standard and extremely comfortable and our celebratory weekend went swingingly from that point.
On the downside, there are a couple of things that I would point out as requiring some attention from the site. It may be the case that there are specific lodges adapted for people with mobility problems but our lodges were not. The steps to the deck were a bit unsafe and, indeed, I managed to fall to the ground when descending from the deck. The step risers were spaced unevenly, were not wide enough and had no railings or grab handles for support. It would be pretty easy to rectify this problem and then the lodges would be more accessible for people with mobility problems or just simply older and less agile.
Another problem for my wife and myself was the fact that the shower was in a bath with sides to be scaled before showering and we simply found that too difficult. We would have preferred a walk-in shower arrangement. I'm sure that other lodges have such an arrangement and that's one thing I'll be sure to check for future bookings. Indeed, our original booking had taken account of this.
I hope that this review does not give the impression that we were unhappy with our experience; the opposite is the case. The accommodations were of a high standard generally, meticulously clean and very comfortable. The staff we had any dealings with - in particular Jo Barrie - were friendly and efficient and, altogether, it was a very enjoyable experience.

Stayed for two nights in the superior glamping pods with a hot tub. On arrival there was no hand soap to which I asked at reception and was pointed towards a bottle of hand soap that cost money which really should be provided as a basic necessity. I was also quite disappointed about the restaurant on site being closed despite being advertised as open online. If we had known this we would’ve booked different days as there really isn’t much open in the surrounding towns. On a positive note it was a beautiful location and the hot tub was lovely - just bear in mind it takes a few hours to heat up.

2 night stay in the pods. Normally you would receive an email letting you know what’s all in the pods and what to bring but received nothing. So anyone going make sure you take plates/bowls/utensils/cutlery. Double bed had linen but nothing for the kids. I thought I had booked a pod with a hot tub as I had refined a hot tub in my search on campsites.com but because we were taking our dogs they are not permitted in the pods. The pods stunk strongly of bleach when we arrived and were very basic & run down. They had a fridge, kettle & microwave though. Ladies toilet blocks were fine but my husband said he’s never experienced anything like it in the men. They are clearly never cleaned with so much dirt down the plug holes the water didn’t even drain away. This site also had kitchen/sitting area and also a washing up room. They all looked like they needed a good clean. The shop/reception was only open till 5pm We went to the restaurant it was pretty expensive to what you got and it was also a reduced menu as something was wrong in the kitchen. Staff in the restaurant were very helpful and friendly. We went to the cafe in the campsite next door. Brilliant filled rolls and a very friendly lady who worked there. Pitty it was only open 8am-12 lunchtime. Loch Tay could do with food vans or takeaway cafe that is open all day. Campsite had beautiful views and my boys enjoyed fishing even though they didn’t catch aboard it poured with rain.

Location is fantastic. We stayed in a superior 2 bed lodge with great views to wake up to. The lodge itself was fine a bit grubby in places and not 5* clean but okay. We found a hair in the fridge and the door shelf was broken. Could do with some spray being supplied so we could wipe down surfaces. There was also kitchen items missing that were needed - peeler and scissors latter of which we asked for and got. Full size freezer was handy as we were there for a week but the fridge space was small and we benefited from having a cool box with us for keeping drinks cold. We needed more interior hooks around for towels and coats etc but we find many lodges without enough hooks. There was a weird smell in the bathroom - might have been the type of toilet system but an air freshener helped. The outside of the lodge also needed some attention - bird poop and cobwebs could have been cleaned. Apart from those niggles it was a lovely place that just could have been a smidge better. The wifi you have to pay per device for which I feel should be included when you pay for a superior lodge. The park itself is lovely with lots of space for the kids to play and water / adventure sports to participate in. All in all very good but not great and unsure whether we would return due to the cleanliness / standard of the accommodation but the location and overall experience was nice.

The lodge was booked for a special birthday celebration. The surround area is beautiful with the loch view very peaceful. The Boathouse is nice, warm and welcoming although food and drinks average. There isn’t much happening around the site, it’s very quiet. The owners could do so much with the numerous areas of empty grounds to make it more fun for kids and encourage people to remain in the grounds during their stay. For example there is a park bit it’s very small and basic which is disappointing as there is so much space surround it fur it to be bigger and better. The location of the lodge and hot tub next to the waterfall is beautiful however some lights outside not working. The lodge itself could be stunning and I’m sure it was when first built and hired out but the cleanliness was awful. The bins were disgusting! There was faeces under the toilet seat. The floor needed hoovered. The kettle and toaster were so dirty. The towels provided were an absolute disgrace. The smell was awful. There is very little in the way of cleaning products provided. We bought some items and cleaned behind we used the bathrooms and kitchen and hoovered that night on arrival. So all in all pretty shocking! The fact you have to check out at 10am for enhanced cleaning due to Covid is simply a joke. The sad reality is the owners have neglected this lodge and likely others. The lodges should be fully inspected before the handover time and cleaners held accountable. It’s difficult to raise a complaint and get it sorted upon arrival as you don’t want to put a downer on things for the kids etc. unfortunately we will not be retuning and I urge people to look at the reviews and if cleaning is not acceptable return the keys and demand a refund of the hours missed fir further cleaning. We went round to Taymouth Marina and it is far nicer and better maintained.

Hi amycM8317ZP Thank you for your review. I am disappointed you found these issues in the house. Had we been made aware of these we would have been happy to send team members down. We do have a team who inspect properties before check ins and none of these issues were found before your arrival. We have guests who come year after year for the wide open spaces and the water based activities.

We stayed in Mill House at Loch Tay Highland Lodges for 4 nights from 19th Aug which cost us £2000. The location and house are amazing but the cleanliness and standard of housekeeping is absolutely shocking. Every wall is painted white but massively marked with black scratches. The blinds and skirting boards are filthy. The bedding has seen better days and doesn’t fit the beds properly. The bedrooms are cold and uninviting because there’s no carpet or curtains. Bedroom furniture is dusty and marked. The plasterboard is coming away from the window in one of the bathrooms. The TV room downstairs is the most cold and uninviting room. We didn’t use it at all because it was freezing! There was no teapot in the kitchen and when we rang reception to ask for one, they said they don’t provide them! However, if you’re a coffee drinker, they provide a cafetière - very odd! There are no instructions on how to use the appliances so you just have to press buttons and hope for the best. The log fire is nice but you don’t get any tools to use it, e.g. poker/brush etc. The boiler didn’t provide hot water to the kitchen and we reported it to reception. A guy came and fiddled with it and said he’d fixed it but would return in an hour to check the water was hot. We never saw him again. All in all, we were hugely disappointed with the house. On paying so much money, I would expect a better standard of cleanliness and maintenance. It’s such a shame because with a bit of TLC, it could be the most fantastic holiday property. Unless things improve massively, we won’t return and we won’t be recommending the site to any of our friends and colleagues.

Third time in 8 years visiting Loch Tay house. Upside down house due to the stunning views, so all living areas are upstairs and most bedrooms at the bottom. As much as we had a great time, we noted that the place has not had many upgrades in that time. The views are beautiful, the open fire is amazing (free firewood is provided), hot tub with fresh water is a bonus and the staff are friendly and approachable. However simple things that could be fixed would make the stay more enjoyable. The hot tub was still cold on the first night (they said this was in terms but I couldn’t see)….. filling it with warm water is a good way to make sure it doesn’t take too long to heat to full temp, we have one and do this…….it’s disappointing to get away for the weekend and realise you can’t use it. The floorboards upstairs are super squeaky and as most of the bedrooms are downstairs you can hear everyone walking around constantly. The kitchen cleanliness was poor …food stuck to the frying pan, wok was un-usable due to being burnt, utensils had grease and food stuck to them and toaster broken. None of the bathrooms had working locks. I see from a previous review that the back door key has been found! We unfortunately had to leave the door open at night, and with children in the house this was a bit uncomfortable. However staff went out of their way offering to change lock and the gesture was appreciated. All in all this could be an amazing getaway but the place for us is now unfortunately a bit dated and cleanliness standards have dropped.

Firstly thankyou for taking the time to write a review and we are delighted that as a regular and loyal visitor you love our location so much you have visited 8 times! I do remember you asking myself on arrival if the hot tub may take until the next morning to heat which I confirmed was the case. If you double check the terms and conditions which can be found right at the bottom of the home page on our website there is a section on hot tubs which does say it can be later on the evening of arrival or into the following morning before it may be fully heated. We do take extra time to ensure the hot tubs are fully cleaned and filled with fresh water for our guests safety and comfort and this can mean the tub can take longer to heat. The house does have old style floorboards and I can vouch for the fact that they have been squeaky for as long as I can remember, not an easy fix but part of the charm of the place I feel. I am disappointed that although I spoke to you a couple of times during your visit no mention was made regarding the cleaning - we have our own cleaners and we would have been very happy to deploy them to rectify any issues you found, please accept my apologies if there were things overlooked. As a valuable customer we do hope you will continue to visit Loch Tay and remember to ask for a returning guest discount when you book again, thanks again for your review

We stayed in one of the superior en-suite pods with a hot tub. The pod was very clean and had the basic necessities - hand soap, dish soap, hand towel, cups, cutlery, plates/bowls and pans. I think the only thing missing from the pod is just somewhere to hang your coat. It’s Scotland - it rains - it’s just tricky to dry out coats if there is nowhere to hang them.
Hot tub was wonderful - we were provided with 4 bags of wood on the first night and ended up using almost all of the wood to get it up to temperature. We bought and extra bag for each of the next two nights - they were so well insulated that even in October, that was enough to get them warmed back up.
We booked a self driven boat on the loch and that was such an amazing day - the whole family loved it!
Lots of wildlife around, great little play park for the kids.
