Karma Group’s newly acquired Scottish resort, Karma Lake of Menteith Easily reached from the two international airports of Edinburgh and Glasgow, Karma Lake of Menteith is located in a historic and very special area of central Scotland named Perthshire. The resort is currently actively trading and Karma Group will invest time and money in upgrading it over the coming months to ensure it is a true Karma Group resort by the spring (when the haggis hunting season commences!). It comprises 20 rooms and a renowned pub and restaurant (as well as a malt vault that Chairman John Spence assures will be increased). The Property is aptly named after the lake upon whose banks it is perched, interestingly, Scotland’s only natural body of water called a lake. All the others are called lochs. Lake of Menteith holds many fascinating legends and is famous for having an island with Inchmahome Priory, a 13th-century monastery in which Mary Queen of Scots once took refuge. The lake is also world-renowned for its world-class trout fishing, wildlife and quality local produce. Expressions of Interest is now open for Karma Group Members and guests to stay at Karma Lake of Menteith – we look forward to hosting you there soon.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Overpriced. Disinterested staff. Mediocre food. They tried to charge service on the bill. An utter disgrace. It was good but not any more. We also ate, the previous evening, at Nick Nairn’s place just a short distance away. The difference is astonishing.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were comfortable, clean and staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent; you can help yourself to a choice of various cereals, pastries, fruit and cheeses. The evening meals were delicious too; I would highly recommend the southern fried chicken burger. We really enjoyed eating our meals whilst overlooking the beautiful lake and hillsides. The hotel is ideal for a getaway; only a short drive to Glasgow or Edinburgh and right next to the Trossachs National Park. We will definitely return.

We arrived and were very pleased with the beautiful reception bar and view across the lake We were early but our room was ready - a lovely room opposite the church Bathrooms are a little dated but the room was spotless and we had clean towels and bedding made every night The food was lovely and good selection Lots of choice of cocktails Games room fab Dog friendly even provided a bowl and bed The views are spectacular But what makes this hotel amazing was all the staff - from walking in the receptionist, room maid, young bar staff all were so funny helpful friendly and kind Highly recommend Could do with a Mirror above dressing table as no sockets near full length so awkward to dry hair (room 6) Maybe have a specials board for food We went on karma deal - which is a good deal which we would have joined if more properties in Europe - will keep in touch with Robert who was helpful and not pushy Really knew his stuff

Dear Frank, Thankyou for choosing Karma Lake of Menteith for your trip! We are really glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Thankyou for the feedback about Room 6's lack of sockets near the mirror - I will pick this up with our projects team and see if there is anything we can to do to move a socket closer. Really glad you managed to feel the team were kind and helpful, we truly love welcoming guests to the resort and giving them a fantastic experience. I hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Best wishes, Joshua

Firstly the setting is stunning, sitting on the "Lake". The public areas were excellent, relaxing with a great ambience and the food was great. The only downfall, resulting in the reduced value for money and room, is that the bedrooms are in our opinion dated and probably did not merit the price we paid, but the room was just for a bed to sleep and so did not detract from the overall stay. All in all, we went for a relaxing night away and that is exactly what we got.

We arrived here for a weekend as part of the Karma marketing as I’m sure you’ll have read about before, the scenery is breath taking on arrival, and we were really looking forward to our weekend :) As we were walking into reception I got a phone call from Michelle to tell me reception was closing at 5:30 and to check in via the bar, we were shown to our room (14) which was on the ground floor at the end of the corridor along from reception, it was rather small, overlooked the front of the hotel and church. Not an ideal start - I know coming as part of their marketing package they are not going to put us in a lake view room, but I didn’t expect this. We had dinner in the bar Friday night and Andi, Tia and Erin that were working provided awesome service! The bar is cosy, I wasn’t as fussed on the menu and it is priced so that when Karma guests get their discounts it’s maybe reasonable. We both had the steak which at £31.95 I expected more! I hardly slept the Friday nite due to noise, including the shower dripping onto the metal bath all night (not one of the refurbed bathrooms) and the light coming in from the front of hotel lights. When I got out of the shower in the morning it wouldn’t turn off fully, even my partner tried! Anyhoo, we had breakfast - continental included and it’s lovely! Sitting with the view of the lake was great and the lovely Michelle managed to get us changed rooms when I expressed my unhappiness to her! We went out for the day and were trying to decide if we would actually continue our stay. When we got back late eve we had been moved to room 7, a bigger room overlooking the church and car park still but much nicer (has a big bed and the bathroom refurb) so we stayed. In Sat eve/ Sunday we had the sales pitch from Adele, she wasn’t anyway pushy and it did seem like a good deal to us (and we met some members who actually happened to be around staying) but by Monday with a lot of back and forth it just wasn’t for us with what we have booked for the next while and where we want to go! Overall the refurbed deluxe rooms overlooking the lake are lovely and really that’s where you would want to stay if going here, you definitely need a car, as even Nick Nairns restaurant is not walkable! Honestly for us it was the staff here that made our stay, Josh the manager went over and above as did Michelle, Tia, Erin and Andi! Breakfast was great to be included (good coffee, pastries, fruit, charcuterie, cheeses and cereals) This is a bit rough around the edges at the moment, it’s getting some improvements and I know what it’s going for on booking sites, for us if we were to go somewhere so scenic we want the view! I think if you’re going to stay here you’d probably want to be a Karma member for the best value, which is a shame as it has the potential to be a great independent place!

Great location. Our room was comfortable with a good view over the Lake. The food was very good. Oh dear, the service. The waiting staff are clearly in need of training (e.g. staff would continually walk past tables where people had obviously finished). The waiting time from ordering to being served was painfully long. The staff were very friendly, but with each other. On occasions I had to interrupt them to get a response. With its location and kitchen staff this hotel could quite easily become a good 4*. If only they sorted out the service arrangements.

I stayed here whilst on business, but can honestly say, business or leisure it would have mattered not with the service and treatment I was shown. From the second I was met when checking in, the Ops manager Josh, the service and food in the restaurant was faultless and very sincere and positive. Keep up the great work, look forward to staying again. Mark

Such a nice relaxing place to stay. Erin is an absolute credit to your establishment. Such a lovely soul and a wicked sense of humour making you feel very welcome and at ease. The location is stunning with fantastic food prepared to the highest standard. Try the olive oil cake it’s delicious. It’s going through a revamp at the moment so should be even better when completed.

We got married at Lake of Menteith last month and were delighted with the whole experience. It is a beautiful venue which holds a very special place in our hearts. We were hugely impressed with the service from the staff - Erin and Josh took wonderful care of us and our guests, and no request was too much trouble. Joe the chef is fantastically talented and we got so many positive comments from guests on the lovely food. Thank you to all of you for giving us the best wedding weekend!
