Travellers' Choice
Set in the picturesque village of Rhu overlooking the Firth of Clyde, near Loch Lomond the four star Rosslea Hall Hotel offers you a choice of traditional elegance and modern facilities. Our award winning Restaurant and wedding venue are famed for the quality of food and service. Built in 1849 by Architect Daniel Walkinshaw, who was so enamoured by Italy in general, decided his house should be italian in style and built on the shores that most resembled his loved Bay of Naples. To this day, with its bell tower clearly visible from the peninsula in Rhu Rosslea still has the Italianate flavour.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Does not live up to a 4 star rating. There is no lift and although the reception ist moved us to the 1st floor, there was no offer of assistance with our luggage. The stairs are difficult for the elderly. The room was poor. The automatic door closer, was not strong enough to close the door, the wardrobe doors did not close properly, there was no luggage rack or hooks to hang outdoor jackets, the light over the mirror wasn't working and all the furniture was dated and chipped. In the bathroom, the toilet flush needed 3 attempts to get it to work, there was little room for your toiletries (one small narrow shelf) on the plus side, the toiletries supplied were very nice. The light fitting above the shower had been bodged back into the ceiling, with what looked like poly filler. There was black mould where the shower screen met the bath, and some grouting was missing from between the floor tiles The worst thing though, was the bed. The mattresses were as hard as concrete, did not have a topper to tie the 2 singles together. Indeed, there was not even a mattress cover between the sheet and the bed. The pillows were lumpy, of the small square variety, but with a full size pillow cases on them. The last straw, was that the duvet cover was on inside out... Needless to say, we had a very poor night's sleep! The curtains and nets, looked brand new, which was nice. Breakfast was probably the best breakfast we had on our trip. All good quality very well cooked and nicely served. But sadly we won't be back.

Had a fabulous stay with my Mum at The Rosslea Hall Hotel in Rhu last Wednesday night. Kevin and staff were amazing and very attentive. Food was amazing for dinner. Breakfast is fresh and cooked to your specification. Place was ideal for my Mum and a short walk to the beach front for more lovely scenery. Rooms are comfortable too and we managed to get a sea view. Definitely returning in the future.

We always enjoy staying at the Rosslea but this was the first time taking the dog along with us. Lynn and her team couldn't be any more helpful throughout our stay. Oreo especially enjoyed his sausage at breakfast time. Looking forward to our next visit already.

I have just had another pleasant stay at the Rosslea Hall. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was superb. However - and there should be no need for a "however". As it was cold outside, and the heating was turned off mid-evening, a bed with no throw - just a white duvet and no spare blankets (or pillows) in a cupboard, made it a bit chilling to sleep. Also, the toilet in room 12 (as reported by previous guests) still does not flush properly. However, I will return.

My partner and I decided on a whim to explore Scotland and stumbled upon Rosslea Hall Hotel for our stay – what an incredibly lucky find! Tucked away with gorgeous views, this hotel turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The room we stayed in was so cosy and inviting, decorated with a wee bit of Scottish charm that made us feel right at home. Waking up to the sight of the sea view each morning was magical, and the comfy bed made it hard to leave! What really made our stay memorable, though, was the warmth and hospitality of the staff. Everyone from the front desk to the housekeeping team greeted us with smiles and went out of their way to make our stay special. They even helped us plan our daily outings with some insider tips on the best local spots. We did a lot of exploring during the day, and the hotel's location was just perfect for that. All in all, our stay at Rosslea Hall Hotel felt like we'd found a home away from home. It's not just the place itself but the people and the warm, welcoming atmosphere they create that makes it truly special. We're already planning our next trip back – this time with friends in tow! If you're heading to Scotland and looking for a genuine, heartfelt experience, Rosslea Hall is the place to be.

I booked on a luxury hotel website, unfortunately it was far from luxury more like a travelodge. Stains on the curtains, toilet wouldn’t flush, marks on ceiling etc etc. We were offered another couple of rooms but felt they were the same. Advised restaurant was closed so would have to eat in bar. So decided to go to another hotel.

£25 charge for bringing our dog to rooms that are not cleaned. How is this? Room 10 just filthy with dust. Room 20 filthy worn carpets and a layer of dust on everything. The mattress must be ten years old. Solid with no padding. The bathroom door bodged on thst springs open. Sink taps that almost need a wrench to turn off. In general the hotel is in poor condition with Shabby decoration, worn out furniture and carpets. Helpful staff but awful set up. Can't wait to get out in the morning. This place needs closing down and sorting out. It's just a joke to expect guests to put up with any of this nonsense. 2 star rating at most. Note to management ... don't reply to this with the excuse that you'll be upgrading another 15 rooms . That crap doesn't wash with me or anyone with any sense. You're ripping people off while running a s*it show . Acknowledge the fact youre running a dump and fix the issues before any potential customers can get anywhere near the place.

Returned to Rosslea for a 2 night weekend visit. Cannot fault this hotel. The staff are extremely helpful, rooms are very comfortable and foot is excellent. Excellent choice for breakfast and hot food is cooked to order. Ample parking onsite.
