Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Once again during our visit to Dalbeattie we stayed at Kerr Cottage.
This is an absolute gem. Liz and Ian are fantastic hosts always making you feel welcome and at home.
The quality of everything from standard of rooms (including beds and linen, hospitality tray, bathroom, furniture) to the fab breakfasts which are always plentiful and hot are first class. I would definitely recommend this beautiful B and B.

I stayed here with friends as we were attending gigs within an hour or so away, and this had disabled facilities. From the moment we got there to the moment we left, it was like one of our mums was with us. Really looked after :) room was huge (me and my friend shared the double, my disabled friend had her own, oh and the mattress banter!!). On our last day, we all decided to leave Liz a thank you note. We don't do it often, but in this instance it was seriously justified, left it so shed see it when our room was sorted, anyway she came running out with a tear in her eye hugging us all, which we all got a lump at, was nice to know wed made someone feel good and appreciated :) then the best part ever, while we were packing we thought we had everything, oh dear god no, Lizs hubby came out asking whose knickers were these on the bed, granny pants no less!! Not one of us could even move for ten minutes solid for being doubled up in hysterics!! Was such a great stay though, would return in a heartbeat if ever that way again x also stayed summer 2009 but option below not letting me go that far.

We booked Kerr Cottage to attend a family wedding and what a little gem! Liz is the perfect hostess and makes you very welcome. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated (as was the rest of the house!). Breakfast is to die for!! There is a guest sitting room, free Wifi and you can help yourself to beer/wine etc from the fridge. It's the perfect place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kerr Cottage. Ian and Liz have thought through the whole B&B experience and supplied everything anyone might ever need (plus a heavy hammer and spirit level which guests probably don't usually ask for!).
The bedrooms are peacefully decorated with good quality linen which is lovely to relax in after a long day. The bath is big enough for a good soak, the water pressure ideal for an invigorating shower.
As for the breakfasts: great food, lots of choice and beautifully cooked.
We will come again .... we might even make a special trip! Many thanks. Liz and John

Thank you so much for your kind words - we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and have taken the time to post a review. Glad we were able to help with the tools, and that you managed to fix your sister's fence. Hopefully if you visit again the weather will be a little kinder and you will have chance to explore the area and sample some of the excellent restaurants in Dalbeattie.

What a wonderful find as a base for exploring the beautiful countryside in Dumfries and Galloway.
The owners are so friendly instantly making you feel at home. They have great knowledge of the local area.
Bedrooms have everything you need and more, lots of little extras are provided.
Breakfasts are one of the best and to say plentiful would be an understatement. The granola is from a local farmshop where we stopped on way home for our own supply.
One of the best b&b's we have stayed at.

Thank you for taking the time to post such a lovely review - we're so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated all the little extras we provide. A good breakfast sets you up for the day and we're so glad that you enjoyed yours. We source all our ingredients locally and the bacon, sausage , black pudding and haggis are from our local award winning butcher - TH Carson - in Dalbeattie. It would be lovely to see you again if you decide to return to beautiful Dumfries and Galloway. Thanks again Liz

Recently stayed at Kerr Cottage and I genuinely believe no review will do this place justice.

Liz was a perfect host who couldn't do enough for me during my brief stay (she even ironed my shirt). The house and rooms are immaculate and there was plenty of space in lounge to relax. The bed was very comfortable with quality linen, bedroom had an ensuite which was very modern.

Breakfast couldn't of been any better, freshly made fruit salad and breakfast made to order. The Scottish breakfast didn't disappoint with top quality meat from the local butcher. One of the best I've ever had!

Look forward to my next visit as I doubt I'll find another cooked breakfast like that again in a hurry!

We have a bedroom which can accommodate 3 people (king size bed plus single bed) and our other two rooms have king size beds. We are 5 minutes walk from the centre of Dalbeattie. Please ring us on 01556 612245 to discuss rates which depend on the length of visit and which rooms you choose.
