Thank you for a lovely review. Glad you enjoyed your stay.
Just stayed the one night but may well return. Wife commented that the host was just welcoming enough - very welcoming but not too much attention.

The situation of the cottage was lovely. We were very well looked after. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast...lovely fruit salad and good choice of cooked. I cannot find anything negative to say. Well deserved 5 stars from me!

Hi Could not tell you for certain but the cottage would have originally been part of the Maxwell estate. We know there has been a building on this site since the seventeen hundreds. The property was bought from the estate in the 1950's by the kennedy family as part of butterhole farm. We have lived here since 1989 and the cottage actually sits what would have been the base of Dalbeattie quarry. The quarry is still in use today all be it mainly for road surfacing rather than construction. Sorry we could not be of more help.
Kind regards, Pat & Bill Gordon
