We were in a three- bedroom caravan with a gas fire and seven radiators so that was a great start. Stranraer [Tesco, Morrisons and a Catholic church ] was a 30-minute walk away along beside the shore. There is not an official bus stop outside the entrance but we found all the buses did stop and pick us up but you had to ask for Innermessen as that is what is on their ticket machine.Jim the Warden is a very helpful.

We chose this park as the location is a great base for exploring Stranraer and other places along the South Ayrshire and Galloway coast. The park is small and compact but friendly and well maintained. It is located immediately beside Loch Ryan, an area which is beautiful but also has a lot of history which interested us! The caravan itself was clean and provided a cosy home from home for us, no issues there. The only slight problem was that the WiFi was not working but we were told this was being dealt with soon, its a shame that it was not fixed before we left for home. We were set one row back from the front which faces the loch but we still had a view of it so that was lovely. There's no fence between the site/the loch which may be something to consider for dogs/children as the tide comes up very high when it is in. There is a laundry on site and a looked after outdoor play park but no pub/restaurant on site as yet (there was a building though that looked like it may be in redevelopment for this). I think this would be a great asset to the site because the only place for food and drinks close by is Stranraer which is a couple of miles away which may not be great for everyone. A small shop would be handy too. Overall we had a lovely time and we managed to explore a lot of the area while coming back to a confortable accommodation each day. Would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in this area and we wouldn't rule out a return visit!

Me and my family were there from the 25th of August till the 28th of August. Even though we were there for only a short period of time our exeperience was absolutely outstanding and enjoyable. Unfortunately we had arrived at 11:30pm but a gentleman named Micheal that works there was very kind to drag hiself out of bed and pass us the keys to our lodge. Micheal would always check up on us and at one point he had offered us free range eggs that were on the house. If you ever decide to stay at Ryan Bay Caravan Park and Micheal is still working there I promise you that you will recieve top
service and Micheal will always be there for you if you need anything. I definitely will be back in the future. All the best to Micheal and Ryan Bay Caravan Park.

We arrived here for four nights, on arrival at the site we were disappointed as the images on pitch up didn’t match the actual appearance. We made our way to reception in our Motorhome and were told to drive over a gravel area onto a field and pick a space. We had booked for a hard standing pitch with electric and water on site this was not what we were offered. We tried to drive over the gravel and almost got stuck and then made it onto the field which was water logged. Our Motorhome started sliding and digging in to the grass. I stopped and went to tell the man at reception who replied well if you get stuck we will pull you out with the Land Rover! I explained this wasn’t what I booked and not suitable when I had my children who are 4 and 2 years old. The Motorhome would have been filthy with the children and Aldiss having to walk in and out through the mud. The man said he would move us, he directed us to a static caravan hard standing and told us to drive on to it, there was flag stones and kerb stones sticking up out of the ground which you had to manoeuvre the Motorhome around and a trip hazard for the children. We then tried to attach our water to fill up and noticed the tap had been hacksawed off so you couldn’t connect a hose to it. I asked how we could fill up with water and he directed us to the tap that you use to clean out the waste tank above the elsan tank. At this point I spoke to the man at reception and asked if we could have a refund so that we could find somewhere more suitable, we had paid £40 a night to stay on this site and this was vastly over priced for the facilities and touring area being offered. The man refused to refund us and told us he couldn’t control the weather and it wasn’t his fault the field was water logged. He was very unhelpful and told us he wouldnt ring the owners as he would get sacked if he tried to contact them on a weekend and that it was impossible for him to provide any sort of refund. He told us to wait until Monday and to speak to the owners then. I trued to speak to the man twice about the issues we had but he started to get irritable and abrupt with me. Nobody spoke to us on Monday or Tuesday or tried to resolve the issue we had. The facilities weren’t open due to covid but I wouldn’t have used them anyway they looked filthy. Another point to note is the field they put tourers onto is right next to the main road which leads to the ferry terminal which is great if your stopping over before getting the ferry but very noisy when your trying to relax on holiday with two small children.

We managed to get a really good deal on a static caravan through Hagans . On arrival I met the friendly site manager who apologised for the ongoing work to update and improve the touring site. When we arrived at our caravan I saw that it was brand new and we appeared to be the first to use it. All we needed were our own towels as everything else was supplied. During our stay we were blessed with beautiful weather. The site is ideal for touring the area plus it is only about 2 miles outside Stranraer. The pub on site wasnt open during our stay but keep in mind this was very early in the season. As previously said work including a new access road was in place and much work being done to the touring site. The site is adjacent to the main road so there is traffic noise but that was to be expected. All in all we were happy with our stay here at Ryan Bay and we wish the staff all the best with their venture to improve the site.

Perfect site if your travelling to Ireland on the ferry as its very close to the port. The park is being upgraded but I found it to be very clean. The toilets & showers were spotless. It’s only about 1.5 miles from Stranraer which has everything in it, supermarkets, chemists, shops etc. there’s a cycle path/pavement all the way there. It is near the road but if I’m honest I never heard much traffic. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I will definitely return here at some point as it’s right on the water with stunning views.

Beautiful location, nicely kept showers and laundry, lovely static area, however that’s all you get for £23 a night.
When I tried to book and got a recorded message saying they were closed for Christmas ! I shouldn’t have bothered. Unmanned reception, no signs for utilities e.g chemical waste, no map or park details available, no instructions for laundry payment, small drain in the ground for grey waste, against a fence on an exit road, very inconvenient for all. No litter or poo bins on site. No central drinking water, only on some pitches. Spent far too much time, in the rain just looking for everything.
Tourers are the poor relations. Miss match of pitches. Small and some with entry through another’s pitch ?? Watch out if you have a table outside or a dog or kids !! It’s a mess !!
Residential area looks like allotments.
Take a note of the wardens number outside the office, you will need it !

It’s a good site, however be aware that third party platforms are still advertising a bar and restaurant on site, which there isn’t. The location is a good base to explore from but you definitely need transport. The site is quiet and peaceful and the staff very helpful. The caravan was excellent, clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the loch.

Showers could do with modernisation someone in the cubicle next to me was washing her clothes and emptied her bucket and the water flowed through to my feet yuk. The road is very noisy.

One of the best sites we have stayed at with our touring caravan. The full site is clean and tidy, shower blocks were immaculate and always being restocked with toilet rolls etc. site management were friendly and came and met us on arrival and were there throughout our stay if we needed them for anything. Would be good for some bins to be dotted around the site for dog waste.
