Detailed Reviews
A very warm welcome when we arrived after a long drive. Fresh milk for the room and a wee welcoming dram! The room was lovely, top floor, great view and very clean, comfortable and well maintained. Loved the extra dressing room area. Breakfast is pre-ordered to avoid food waste and then cooked fresh when you are seated. No complaints at all the breakfast was fresh, plentiful and delicious. We walked into the town for a meal at The Pub the first night, the food and Guinness were great quality. The 2nd day we got the 7.30 ferry to. Belfast - the terminal is a 10 minute drive, easy to park and a day trip ticket was £30. We got the 7.30pm back from Belfast - a long day but well worth it. We would have no hesitation in staying here again Rhonda and Colin are fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble. They made breakfast bags for us to take out for our early ferry - not many places offer that service. Highly recommend to anyone

My other half and I are of the generation whose experience of Guest Houses was stern landladies and being expected to vacate the accommodation for hours on end during the day.
We decided to book at the Harbour Lights Guest House based on the reviews and are so pleased we did, because it has completely changed our view and, in future, we will definitely consider this type of accommodation.
Harbour Lights is situated right on the harbour front with a free public car park directly across the road. We were given a warm welcome, including a tot of whisky, which was much appreciated by my other half!
Our room was on the top floor (we had been given advance warning of the head clearance available) with a window overlooking the harbour, complete with two armchairs and a table to sit and think. Comfortable, large bed and plenty of storage with an amenity tray.
A small room off, looking out over the back garden, with a desk / dressing table which, had we been younger, would have been an ideal space for a cot or child's bed. The bathroom had plenty of hot water, towels, complimentary toiletries and a good shower.
Everything was pristine and there were lots of little touches to make our stay comfortable. The decor very much reflected the Scottish element. We were asked to fill in a form stating what we would like for breakfast the following morning and to give a time when we would like to eat.
Our key accessed our room and also the front door and the guest house was within easy walking distance of shops and facilities in the town.
Breakfast was cooked fresh to order and was delicious and, if you chose well, extensive and filling. There was home made jam to have with one's toast and a steaming cafetiere of coffee.
Such a find, and so pleased that we booked. On that note, if you book directly with the Guest House, then they do receive all the cost, rather than paying fees to a third party.

This is a really great place to stay which is a short walk from the town centre. On arrival we received a very warm welcome from the host, the room was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Beds were very comfortable and breakfast the following morning was excellent, well cooked, made with quality ingredients. We thought what they offer for the price charged was excellent value and would definitely recommend it! Book direct with owners for the best deal.

If you are looking for accommodation in Stranraer, look no further than this guest house!
The hostess, Rhona met us on arrival and gave us a warm welcome and showed us to our room, even offering us a wee dram to settle in. She also offered fresh milk to add to the excellent tea tray.
The large upper room was spotless as was the en-suite, which had all the necessary toiletries. Two chairs and a small table were at the bay window and gave us a view over to Loch Ryan.
Excellent sleep in large comfortable bed followed by superb breakfast - I had freshly made porridge to start off.
Couldn't believe the low price for such a most enjoyable stay..
Well done, Rhona and Colin.

We had the warmest welcome from Rhona and Colin, with a special Scottish treat on arrival, plus fresh milk for our cup of tea.
The room was spotless, and all amenities you could want were provided, including lovely shampoo and shower wash.
A superb breakfast sent us on our way, with tattie scones which are a proper treat, plus home made jam and marmalade on offer, both for brekkie and to buy, we bought a jar each of the red plum and whisky marmalade.
Final added bonus was an introduction to Molly, the family patterdale/springer mix, so lovely to get a dog fix :)
Could not recommend the Harbour Lights enough, a wonderful place to stay.
Be sure to call them direct for reservations!
Thank you Rhona and Colin, and all best wishes.

It was a rainy night in Stranraer when we arrived, but wow, the welcome from the Harbour Lights was super warm. Our ensuite room overlooking the sea was spot on and the hosts Rhona and Colin Brown were welcoming and approachable without being intrusive. We could have spent all day chatting to them the next day after breakfast. So good.

The Harbour Lights is exceptional! Where do I start... The room was so spacious and very comfortable and had a brilliant view over the Loch Ryan where a beautiful sunset could be seen on the horizon on a nice summer's night. The b&b is very cosy and the location is ideal and so central, with great local amenities such as bars, restaurants, takeaways and shops within walking distance, and beautiful walks along the shoreside. The breakfast was consistently fantastic, I tried a variety of different options during my time at the Harbour lights such as the pancakes or the full Scottish breakfast, all options were delicious. The breakfast was always a great start to a busy day ahead! Colin and Rhona are fantastic hosts who could not do enough to help and nothing would be too much bother. I would not hesitate in recommending Colin and Rhona's b&b to anyone as my whole experience at the b&b and Stranraer was superb! I hope to return later in the year to the Harbour Lights Guest House.

Rhona and Colin go out of their way to make you feel at home. The beds were really comfy, the ensuite shower room lacked for nothing and a complimentary nip of whisky on arrival slipped down lovely. Breakfast was to a standard I'd normally expect from a 5 star hotel. My only gripe is they are closed when we need to go in September.

Just arrived with my wife for our overnight stay.
Our room (number 2) is spacious, airy and extremely clean.
We were warmly greeted and shown around and even offered a complimentary shot of Scottish whisky!
The lady quickly explained the use of the keys if we ventured out on the night and answered one or two of our questions about the town layout.
What we wanted for breakfast was chosen from a long list which even included haggis!
The bathroom is very large and well laid out and the giant bed is to die for.
I feel very fortunate to have stumbled onto this little gem of a guest house and cant wait to get stuck into my hearty breakfast!

We stayed just the one night ahead of taking the ferry to Belfast the following morning.
Our room was immaculate and modern, as was the bathroom. The owners were very welcoming and professional and COVID precautions were taken very seriously. We were asked to confirm our arrival time and there was hand sanitiser on entry as well as face masks worn, which was reassuring. Lovely cosy room with a flat screen TV and comfy bed. We also had a good view of the harbour.
Didn't have breakfast unfortunately as we were on the early ferry but the breakfast menu looked fab and very reasonably priced.
Would love to stay again and try breakfast too!
