Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fabulous large house, perfect for a large group or family for a holiday. Most rooms are en-suite, comfy beds, pristine white sheets and towels in all rooms. Kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to cater for a large group, plenty of room around the table for eating. Large living room with plenty of seating. Outside a large garden at the back and great views of Portpatrick harbour from the front with a few summer seats. Already booked again for next year.

Fabulous house with plenty of room for a large group. Outside space is a definite bonus. Views are magnificent and lots of lovely walks. Will definitely be back. John was very helpful and welcoming. Dining area was great for us to get together. On suite Bedroom on ground floor which is great for someone with mobility issues. It is at top of a hill so need a car if mobility issues to get up and down to village. Plenty of restaurants with great food. Can recommend Connor’s The Crown and The Mount Stuart.

We stayed here for a week with our family and loved the house and gardens. The house is spacious and was spotlessly clean. I could not fault it. The children loved playing in the large garden. Beds were comfortable and all appliances worked well. John, the owner, lives onsite and was friendly and helpful. Portpatrick is a lovely village and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Booked Braefield in February to celebrate a family 60th in November. Due to current COVID 19 situation we are unable to travel as family coming from Ireland are not allowed in uk, so we had to cancel. Tried emailing the property about 4 times before hand to see if we could get our deposit back. STILL WAITING ON A REPLY. So we cancelled. Have emailed property many times and STILL WAITING. Totally disgusted by this as at the end of the day it was out with our control. Would not recommend.

We had a wonderful family stay here - the house had everything we needed & we all had plenty space to relax. Great base for exploring or just chilling there! Loved our stay! The welcome basket was a lovely touch too - just what you need after a long journey!

15 of us stayed here and had a great time meeting up with family again. House itself was fine with fantastic views, modern kitchen and plenty of secure parking. Even with so many staying we still had plenty of room around the house. Shops and restaurants etc are a 5 minute walk down the steps opposite the driveway

We are just back from a Family weekend at the Braefield House which was amazing! The house itself is in a prime location with views to die for and so handy for the local shops, pubs and walking trails. It was in immaculate condition and the bonus for us was that most of the rooms had their own en-suite. The owners were so accommodating even giving us extra chairs for outside and dropping off a lovely bottle of wine for my mums birthday! I would highly recommend this house whilst looking for a break away in a picturesque setting.

Just spent a week in the house. It is self catering and what a joy. It is an old house with fabulous character although the kitchen is very modern and well equipped. there were 12 of us and what a wonderful time we had.The views are spectacular and you are so close to the harbour and pubs. As most of the rooms are en suite it saved a lot of hassle waiting for showers. All rooms have flat screen tvs. the house is very comfortable and the owners are extremely nice and welcoming. Plenty parking. I would gladly return to this house. We even had good weather. It was a really chilled out break.
