Glengarry Castle Hotel is a comfortable country house hotel with a jewel of a setting on the shores of Loch Oich at the heart of the Great Glen in the Highlands of Scotland. Great touring base, stay for a few days and explore the Highlands - 7 miles from Loch Ness, 40 miles south of Inverness, 25 miles north of Fort William and just 50 miles to the Isle of Skye. Set in 60 acres, well away from the road, lots of local walks. Free WiFi in every bedroom and public areas. We serve Scottish beer, whisky and gin to our lounges and have an extensive wine list too. Family run for over 60 years. The building has not been extended and there is no annexe, all bedrooms are in the original house.

The hotel is located in an old building (the ruins of a castle are in the park). The interior has a very old-fashioned charm with ageing installations. Nevertheless the kitchen is of a very very high standard (both breakfast and especially if you dine there) and the staff is extremely welcoming. We will certainly come back to that

Our hiking group who were walking the Great Glen Way spent 1 night at the Glengarry Hotel, Invergarry. Just fantastic. Its everything castle accommodation should be. So much history. The hotel is situated in an idyllic location, with views onto the Caledonian canal and beyond to the Glens. The Staff were very welcoming and helpful at reception. The guest rooms were clean and comfortable. I was booked into a single room, it had a bath as well as a shower, heaven after a long day hiking. Dining in the restaurant was an absolute pleasure. The cuisine done to perfection, the service excellent with staff being helpful and engaging. Everything on the menu was sourced locally. It was a wonderful experience to have spent one night here, felt welcomed and highly recommend this hotel to others. Thank you.

This is a lovely, peaceful, quiet hotel. Our room (23) was enormous, with a large sitting area, four-poster king bed and bathroom with a shower and large bathtub. Breathtaking views of the water and hills above. The food here is the best we’ve had; fresh fish and vegetables and a menu that changes daily. The hotel is even nicer than the photos show. They must have refreshed it lately. The beds now have white comforters instead of those old bedspreads in the photos. The walking paths around the hotel are wonderful. You can have tea and scones (or whisky) in the lovely lounges downstairs. It feels like you’re far away from civilization here, but you’re not.

We had stayed in this hotel before and returning was like visiting an old friend. You want it to be the same but you want things to be better. We were not disappointed. It still has the same country house feel but it doesn't feel dated. Our superior room was large enough and the easy chairs very comfortable for reading. The bathroom and shower were good but the hot water was just hot enough, filling the bath need no addition of cold water ( do I detect a bit of HSE intrusion?). The staff were, as in previous visits, exceptionally friendly but not over familiar. The restaurant staff were very attentive but never over bearing. We you needed something they just seemed to be there, but they never 'hovered' over you. The food was excellent with lots of little quirks. I like to eat food in hotels that I couldn't cook at home but will give me ideas to try. I've already googled 'cured egg yolk' The Glen Garry Castle is not the cheapest of establishments but our bill overall compares favourably with similar hotels we have stayed in. The hotel is close to the A82 but we couldn't hear any sound of traffic. Although we are only occasional bird watchers we had a fantastic experience of watching swifts out of our bedroom window, swooping towards us ad swerving away at the last moment. We have reminded ourselves that we should stay away as long as we did this time.

We'd been in Scotland a few days touring the North, and I booked this place for a relaxing last night stay before getting back to reality the following day. Was a bit more expensive than the other places, which had all been excellent, so the expectations were high The drive up to the hotel, and the overall first impression is wonderful. You drive past the ruins of the original castle (unfortunately fenced off) Reception area is just as you'd expect in a country house, traditionally decorated, but spotless and attractive Staff were on hand to greet us and escort us to our lovely room, which was almost sumptuous. I slept so well. It was clean and well appointed with an excellent selection of bath products and drinks Dinner and breakfast were excellent and fairly informal, although the table settings and menu were of high quality. My 15 year old son is not used to fine dining, so was a little intimidated by the menu. The duty waiter was brilliant and talked him through it thoroughly, and James really enjoyed his 3 courses, including the previously unthinkable pigeon starter. The grounds are delightful, and an after dinner stroll along the loch was a fitting end to a good day. I should add that the staff and management could not have been better. At one point I forgot my mask, and I was reminded most diplomatically

A beautiful, peaceful old hotel on a large estate next to a loch. The rooms vary quite a bit depending on what you go for, we went for a high end room and it was delicious. Older, comfy style furniture, a good bed, and a brilliant view. Old creaky stairs, no lift. Bathrooms are small but well equipped. The hotel staff is good, we were greeted in a friendly manner and helped with our luggage. There are two lounges that are great to sit by a fire and enjoy a drink. Downsides: it isn't close to much of anything, and we arrived ten minutes before check-in time and were told we'd have to wait. Hmmm. Dining room is in practicality for guests only and thus has limited choices, but we always found something that satisfied; the dinner was a great meal we enjoyed a lot. (It does give one a bit of a Fawlty Towers vibe, but much higher quality).

We had the recent pleasure of staying at Glengarry Castle Hotel in Invergarry. It was a delightful experience from the moment we walked through the gigantic doors we were greeted with the warmth and hospitality of Scotland’s past. The staff at the hotel was exceptional, professional and friendly. The hotel itself is so charming -- the lobby, lounge and library exude elegance and sophistication of Scotland history. Our room was clean, spacious and tastefully, historically decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was bright and clean and a nice size. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed a walk to the Invergarry Castle ruins. One of the highlights of our stay was the beautiful panoramic view from our suite that overlooked the loch. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel multiple days and each were excellent and exceeded our expectations in both service, quality and deliciousness. During our stay we did day road trips from the hotel and we always looked forward to returning to relax in the lounge with a drink and reflect on our day’s adventures. If you are visiting the Invergarry area, we highly recommend Glengarry Castle Hotel for an unforgettable experience.

This is a very impressive building when you pull up and the huge front door and hall is very charming. Check in was relatively easy after some initial confusion and we were shown to our rooms by the manager. The room we had was huge and had a lovely big bed that was very comfortable and lots of place to put your stuff. Beautiful view of the trees and lake from the window. The library was a perfect spot to enjoy some tea and shortbread while the fire crackled away. Dinner was amazing - the service was great and the food was wonderful. Breakfast was another great meal with lots of choices and no need to rush or pre book your time - just turn up when you’re ready and enjoy. We walked around the grounds taking photos on the morning we were leaving and really enjoyed all of the different areas, it’s certainly in a beautiful setting.

A two night trip away which did not disappoint, the Glengarry Castle Hotel is situated in beautiful lochside surroundings and was full of charm and elegance. The staff were very attentive and full distancing and sanitising protocols were in place throughout our stay. The hotel is spacious with lots of spaces for afternoon tea or to just sit and relax. The grounds were beautiful with various walks nearby. The dinner and breakfast options were varied and all of the food was delicious. Unfortunately there was not an option for a light snack (sandwiches) in the afternoon unless you ordered the full afternoon tea, perhaps this could be made available in the future. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Our fourth visit to Glengarry Castle Hotel but the most disappointing. We had a De-Luxe 4 poster room at £330 a night. Beautiful views of the Loch and modern clean bathroom. Under whelmed by the room itself. We expected at least a bottle of water and glasses, a coffee pod machine and fresh milk( we had a kettle, tea/coffee sachets and 4 milk pods!!) Reception staff on arrival were unfriendly to the point of making us feel unwelcome. However all other staff members where friendly and at least the Housekeeping staff said Good Morning. For the price we paid for two nights it was over priced. Would suggest customer service training for the reception staff on our arrival. A smile and friendly greeting goes a long way! Sadly we will not be returning.

My understanding is that dogs are allowed in certain (but not the deluxe) bedrooms. However, they're not allowed in most of the public areas including the dining rooms. And I've never seen any in one of those rooms but I have in the corridors and outside.
Check with the hotel to be sure.
We do offer a limited laundry service (machine wash, tumble dry) no hand wash or special materials. This has a 24 hour turnaround.
