Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the best hostel we have ever stayed in! Absolutely loved it, we range in age from 12 to 52 and everyone had a great time. The building is gorgeous, the man on reception friendly and helpful, great that it's dog friendly with stunning walks on our doorstep, the kitchen large and well equipped and our bedrooms comfortable and tasteful. Our favourite room was the lounge complete with log burner and scatter cushions, we read books, played the many board games provided at the hostel and enjoyed the atmosphere of having other outdoorsy guests to chat to. Definitely recommend The Rocks hostel :)

I can not recommend The Rocks enough, my stay was so good that I am struggling to know where to start. The Rocks is a hostel but do not let this put you off as the standard of accommodation and the friendliness of the staff during our stay was of a far higher standard than most of the hotels that I have stayed in. We are a family of 4 with a dog (3rd child) and stayed in a family room which was very well kitted out with lovely beds, very clean and lovely and warm. The lounge and secondary seating area was again very comfortable with loads of seats for everyone. The Kitchen was very well equipped with no shortage of utensils and fridges for everyone to use. To top everything of it is dog friendly which is a must when we go anywhere, It was so good that it feels like I'm letting the Rocks and the staff down by only giving it 5 stars. If you are looking for accommodation in this part of the world you will be hard pushed to find anywhere better and more welcoming, we will be using The Rocks again which is as good a recommendation as you can get.

Greeted with a very warm welcome by Dylan and Carrie, I had a very good sleep in a cosy comfortable bed, the facilities are 5 star, it does not feel like a hostel, an award worthy stay. I will definitely return and highly recommend the rocks. Surrounded by mountains and stunning scenery and a short drive into Betws, what’s not to love.

Our group has made another return visit to this first class hostel. The bunks are the most comfortable I have used in 40 years of travelling and better than many hotel beds! The friendly staff and the wood burning stove make this an ideal base for exploring the area. The local buses stop outside too but check the company timetables rather than relying on Google maps to plan your journeys.

Just back from climbing snowdon 12 adults and kids! Carrie and the rocks - rocks, couldn’t have been more helpful with planning and recommendations and such a cheerful face to see after a very long walk! The hostel is beautifully decoration and feels like a 5 star hotel! Rooms thoughtfully laid out and beds beyond comfortable! Shout out to Dylan for trying to locate my lost EarPods above and beyond! We Will be back to book the whole place for our 50th! Thanks from the one without the pearls 😜

The rooms are beautifully decorated. Clean and tidy. The reception staff are friendly. All the advice given was spot on. We stayed for two nights before and after we climbed snowdon. The views were stunning The kitchen in the hostel was organised and had everything you need. Every thing was made easy for our trip.

What a great place. The rooms were fantastic, a large well equipped kitchen and friendly atmosphere. What's not to like? If I can convince 20 of my friends to come we could hire the whole place. If not I will definitely be back...

We cannot recommend this hostel enough. We’ve just returned from a fabulous 3 nights here. It is more expensive than your average hostel but this was no average hostel! The location, the interior design, the bathrooms, the wet room, the shared living spaces, the huge shared kitchen and most of all the staff were amazing. Carrie and Dylan you made our weekend so special. Nothing was too much trouble and your friendly faces were exactly what we needed after our Snowdon climb in the gale force winds! We ate down the road at Tyn y coed which was lovely and reasonably priced too. At a time when it feels like customer service and value for Money has gone out of the window our weekend at The Rocks hostel restored our faith. The only thing I would say is It would be great to have more eateries close by and the dogs in the next farm/field barked a lot throughout the day and early evening but thankfully didn’t keep us awake at night, But that’s it! 100% we will return and please keep hold of carrie and Dylan they are like gold dust!
