Another tick in my growing bucket list. A weekend in a gypsy caravan! A perfect and unforgettable experience. The caravan is beautiful, comfortable and cosy. The adjacent cabin is very well equipped with the essentials needed for our stay.

We loved the shower cabin with its hot shower and even found the compost toilet to be clean and secluded. There is also a cute seating area outside with a fire pit and a good supply of logs and a hammock.

Set in its own field, the setting was idyllic and a perfect location for exploring this beautiful part of the country.

We would definitely recommend and will return in the near future.

I have visited The Forge twice for wild swim retreats, both of these have been amazing. The tents are so comfortable and kept very warm with fluffy blankets, hot water bottles and log burners with plenty of wood to keep them going for as long as you need. The campsite is peaceful and well set up with kitchens, composting toilets and warm showers in large cubicles with plenty of space to change afterwards. Sheena is a really great host and takes care of everything you could need. I will definitely be back!

I have just returned from a swimming retreat at the Forge, it was amazing …

On arrival I was greeted by Sheena who instantly gave me a hug and made me feel so welcome, I was shown my huge tent which completely exceeded my expectations it was so comfy. Everything has been carefully thought of, the attention to detail is incredible and shows the passion and ethos of the place. Simply put, The Forge is perfect with breathtaking views.

Sheen and Hattie were the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble and their ability to make you feel at ease was so natural. We visited some lovely spots for wild swimming and were educated on water quality and what to look for. At the end of each swim there was always hot drinks and homemade cake! On returning to The Forge the Sauna was fired up ready to warm us up.

The food was delicious freshly prepared and soured from Sheena’s garden or local suppliers and was always plentiful. We were like a big family eating together and chatting about our day’s activities.

Watching the sun set and hearing stories from a local storyteller round a fire was magical and the icing on the cake was seeing the Barn Owl.

I arrived at The Forge solo but have come home with friends and lots of happy memories, I really could have stayed a lot longer it is the perfect place to re-set. I will be going back for sure!

Sheena and Hattie have created the perfect weekend retreat for anyone looking for a reset. From the second we arrived we belonged, and so the usual "adjustment period" needed on any other break, was instantaneous.
Every box was ticked, from the pond (such a great introduction to wild water dips) and sauna, the immaculate tents with glorious log fires, the incredible meals and cakes (which should actually get their own review), to the picture perfect lake swims and moonlit fireside story telling.
The added touches (hammocks, hot water bottles and more) just emphasized the girls' determination to provide the perfect retreat, whilst being attentive, sincere and genuinely fantastic company the entire time.
This is by far one of the best weekends away I have ever had

Having joined the Winter Wild Swim course last year (loved it by the way) I thought id try my luck at swimming in the summer in North Wales. Although i was hopeful for sunshine and a little dispointed that it rained i was not let down one bit by the course. Three swims and the most amazing waterfull experience on the Sunday morning. Sheen & Hatty who run the course have a wealth of experience and are more than happy to share this; and their tips on equipment to remain safe and warm in the water. I am not an experienced or strong swimmer and was never made to feel uncomfortable by this. They encourage you to get as much out of this for you. I attended both course alone and knew no one but came away with friends. The food provided was plentiful, homemade and supplied by other local buisness. Accomdation were bell tents (i have also stayed in Blubell corner) which stood well against the Welsh weather and we were never cold overnight. I would highly recomend the swimming course for beginners to gain an awareness of the safety of cold water and be shown some amazing places North Wales has to offer. I would also really recommend the accomodation for a short stay whilst exploring the local area if swimming isnt your thing.

Absolutely oustanding stay. All the staff went above and beyond to help make our 4 night stay a special experience. The whole glamping experience was wonderful. There was everything we needed. The kitchen has all the bits you need, and plenty that you think you didnt! The tents are warm and comfortable and the finishing touches make it really special. There were 3 adults and 3 dogs in a tent and we didnt feel on top of each other. Which is good as 2 of us are great big fatties! The log burner warms the place up in minutes and depsite a horrendous pour down we kept dry. We took our 2 border collies and they had a great free run of the place , so much area for them to play in. The toilet was impressive for a compost loo and we have now converted to using the same toilet paper. Much better. Plus the view from the throne, wow. Just needed a cigar.
We will certainly be returning, you have an amazing set up. Its a shame the weather was every season every day as we would really have liked to have tried the bushcraft activities. Till next time :-)

OMG my husband scored serious Brownie points buying me the Wild Swim Retreat for my birthday! This place and experience was perfect! From the minute I arrived to the minute I left, I didn't have to think about anything or make any decisions because every last thing was taken care of. The hosts are so very welcoming, experienced and knowledgeable and the swimming experiences are suitable for beginners and experienced swimmers alike. The bell tents are fabulously furnished and cosy, with well equipped kitchen areas outside and everything on site has been so well thought through and built in terms of its eco credentials and fits so naturally into the fabulous countryside setting. The food was wonderful, plenty of it and homemade cakes at every turn! A couple of highlights for me, enjoying a picnic spread on the side of the lake after a wonderful swim; around a campfire on top of the iron age hill fort listening to a storyteller and eating homemade ice cream!! Lovely to meet such a nice bunch of fellow swimmers on the retreat too. It really doesn't get better than this and I hope I can return again sometime. You will not regret booking this Wild Swim Retreat, so great for mind, body and spirit - I felt so Zen all weekend and into the following week! 😊

We had a wonderful time at the forge. We went for a family retreat. Jamie and Sheena are really friendly, down to earth hosts. They went above and beyond to cater for our dietary requirements providing gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. Beautiful location. The activities were fun and engaging, the instructors were all lovely people, gave clear instructions and were patient with the kids. We did all sorts from bushcraft to beekeeping. The kids had lots of space to play and explore particularly enjoyed meeting the chickens. Highly recommended.

We had an incredible glamping experience at a picturesque location with stunning mountain views. The indoor fire provided a cozy and comfortable ambiance, while the campfire outside added to the charm of the tranquil surroundings. The serenity of the place allowed me to fully relax and enjoy the fresh air. During the nights, I was enchanted by the flight of owls, adding a touch of magic to the whole experience. I highly recommend this glamping site to anyone seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway.

The location is wonderful - gorgeous views all around and the site itself is a really pleasant place to hang around. We did a fire making course and really enjoyed it - highly recommend! We were able to light our own campfires after that which felt like a real accomplishment as we are camping novices!
