Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was recently super lucky to go on a Slow Living Retreat at The Forge and have come away feeling so relaxed! The bell tents are beautiful and cosy, the kitchen and toilet facilities are perfect and the main cabin and kitchen is a brilliant central location for all the gatherings and offerings. Jamie and Sheena are lovely and they have got something really special in The Forge. I'm excited to return next year to hopefully see another shooting star and enjoy the tranquil surroundings! Thanks so much for such a cosy weekend 🤩

I’ve stayed at the Forge as a couple but during the summer i solo travelled as part of a swimming retreat. It is the most relaxed, fresh, welcoming and safe heaven i’ve had the pleasure of staying. You can’t guarentee brilliant weather but you can guarentee you’ll come away feeling relaxed, warm and ready to go back to the rat race again. The swimming retreats are well organised, informative, cold but sooo rewarding. The food provided is all home made or from other local buisnesses. I’ve gone away solo but come home with friends.

I definitely enjoyed my stay at the Forge this autumn!! I've never really liked solo travelling much but the combination of a wild swimming weekend retreat and a few days of solo exploring was just perfect. Sheena and Emma are great hosts and mountain leaders making sure everyone felt comfortable and looked after and the cake after each swim was delicious... I stayed in a bell tent as well as the bow top wagon and loved both, definitely a place to unwind and recharge!

I am lucky enough to have attended a slow living inspired retreat this year (& last year) at The Forge. It's a wonderful place, truly beautiful. The setting is glorious, the facilities are fantastic, they provide everything you need. The bell tents are fab, and so snuggly with the log burner lot. Sheena & Jamie are fantastic hosts - Jamie's home made pizzas are THE best!!! I can't wait to go back.

I have visited The Forge twice for wild swim retreats, both of these have been amazing. The tents are so comfortable and kept very warm with fluffy blankets, hot water bottles and log burners with plenty of wood to keep them going for as long as you need. The campsite is peaceful and well set up with kitchens, composting toilets and warm showers in large cubicles with plenty of space to change afterwards. Sheena is a really great host and takes care of everything you could need. I will definitely be back!

I visited The Forge for the third time to participate in a Mountain swim adventure. The host Sheena made me very welcome as always and Emma the leader for the mountain climb and swim was as energetic and supportive as ever. I always feel safe and supported with these two which helps enormously with confidence. A fun filled weekend (although very wet one!) with laughter, a cosy clamping experience and amazing food. The traditional storyteller topped off the evening with stories in a warm lodge with a log burner. I can't recommend The Forge enough and will definitely be back.

Wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Very cozy tent with great beds. We loved the outdoor kitchen with the great views of the camp site. Perfect place to disconnect from the world and enjoy nature. Sheena and Jaime are great hosts, very responsive and full of suggestions for local trips. We will definitely come back again!!

The best place to decompress. We return for what (I think) is our fifth year at The Forge. It’s hard to put a finger on what it is that keeps us returning… is it the cozy bell tents with their own wood burners, seeing the children learn awesome new things like fire lighting, bread making and foraging, watching the sun come down over beautiful scenery or looking up at night to the clear blanket of stars untouched by light pollution. This magical combination is down to Jamie and Sheena’s hard work which we’ve seen get bigger and better every year. We can’t wait to see what’s to come next year xx

What a wonderful place!!! We stayed in Idris which was the perfect size for two people and a dog! Lots of room and very cosy with the wood burning stove!! We did the day bushcraft course too which was amazing. We learnt so much and it was really nice to switch off from the world. Two nights wasn’t enough and we will definitely be back again!! If you are looking for an escape and to relax then this is the place!
