What a brilliant place to stay. If you are looking for a really family friendly place where you can spend time relaxing and making memories this is it.
There are lots of rooms in the main house, due to the size many can be set up to accommodate a family. But for me the outside space that is safe and secure for families is a winner. It includes a fire pit area for the evenings and a playground for the kids in the day.

As a mum of young kids, cots, high chairs, stair gates and the garden being fenced in meant I was able to relax even more.

The hosts are really helpful and knowledgeable so if you have a request or aren't sure then just ask.

Massive thumbs up from me and we will be sure to return.

The house was very clean, nicely decorated and had everything we needed with plenty of space for us all to fit in. The gardens were perfect for our young kids to play and explore in safety, while also having lots of places for us to gather and relax as a group. The hosts were welcoming, knew a lot about the area and were helpful when showing us around and explaining how things worked.

We were looking for a special venue to host a fun filled weekend for my 50th birthday with family and friends when we came across Powys Country House. From our initial viewing, early last year, until handing the keys back at the end of our stay everything was handled efficiently and pleasantly by Terry and Toni, the owners.

The house is stunning both inside and out and is maintained to an exceptionally high standard. It provides everything that you need for a large gathering. I’d had a vision in mind when I began planning my birthday party, which took place on the Saturday nigh, and having the perfect venue formed part of that vision. Powys Country House was that perfect venue and we would highly recommend it for any special occasion. Debbie and Richard Puddephatt.

I have read through the other reviews on here and can only concur with their comments. The house and grounds were beautiful and we have very recently enjoyed a long weekend here with two sets of families, namely my wife's and mine. This was for my wife's 40th birthday and the house comfortably fitted 18 adults and 5 children from the ages of 6 months to 10 years of age. All had a good time with amenities for all. We enjoyed a walk over the Horseshoe Pass amongst other things yet mainly stayed and simply enjoyed the house and grounds. The kids, and a few of us adults, took full use of the hot tub too.

Toni was a wonderful host who provided a warm welcome and lots of useful information on arrival - we did not see them after that and Toni assures me they did not hear us either. I'm not sure if I can believe that!

There were three sitting rooms and two of those with Sky Sports. The kitchen was well stocked and the hub of the house with doors opening onto a lovely patio area, also well stocked with tables and chairs. We took full use of this space all weekend and enjoyed a great bbq on Sunday. All with the hot tub in eyeshot and in full use!

I must not forget the games room with darts, a pool table, a futsball table and a full size snooker table. The room was fabulously decked out and enjoyed by all. A great addition to the already fabulous facilities.

I could mention more but I'm sure you get the idea - we had a wonderful weekend at a fabulous venue with lovely hosts. will certainly go back.

We spent 3 days in the powyscountryhouse. As soon as I met the owner, instead of greeting us first, he went through their policy on damage that we need to pay for any damage we caused immediatly. This raised our suspicious.

On the leaving day, two of us stayed until 1pm to wait for him on checking the house, but he didn't. Instead, he was wondering around in the garden.

Then a few days later, he claimed that we have somehow damaged his table by spilting drink on it. Then he took 140 pounds out of the deposit to pay for the repair. However, he said the person who repaired the table have no contact detail.

The table which was decleared damaged, was a very normal table. I believe I can purchase a new one with less than 140 pounds.

Response from powyshouse, Owner at Powys Country House and Cottages
Responded 17 Oct 2011
We would like to respond to the above comment that our guests were robbed. Firstly all our guests are aware of our policy of refunding the security bond within 3-4 days of departure. We never give the security bond back until the house & grounds have been thoroughly checked over. It is such a large property it would be impossible to walk around and check everything with guests as they are leaving. We have to check mattresses, carpets, furniture etc. The coffee table that was very badly damaged was not a cheap table, it is a mahogany Long John table. Drinks had been spilt over the table which then seeped under the glass top. It was left for the weekend in this state. If it had have been cleaned and dried there would have been no damage incurred. Because they did not bother to clean the mess and left it, the liquid severely marked the whole length of the table which is 5ft long. We took photographs that were dated and e-mailed them to the guests. We still have the photographs which can be posted if necessary. We informed them of the damage as soon as we found it, and that it would need a professional to repair it. We kept them fully informed. We got an estimate from a professional French polisher, and e-mailed the cost, and sent the bill with the balance of the security bond after it had been repaired. The bill from the French polisher had his name & address on it. He was paid by cheque for £140. We did not charge any extra money for expenses incurred to us, for a 50 mile round trip to take the table to be repaired, and pick it up, or for our time lost & inconvenience it caused. We try our very best to be friendly, accommodating, and provide an excellent service, as our other reviews state. We do not consider this as robbery, after all they damaged our property, but did not like having to pay for it.

Had a wonderful weekend at Powys Country House from 18th to 21st Aug for my Mum and Dads Diamond wedding celebration. The whole place was fantastic, each room beautiful with lovely furniture gracing every room. The bedrooms were stunning, every one of them en suite and the bedding was was so clean and fresh and of fantastic quality. All the amenities we needed where there, there were 3 sitting rooms, a fantastic kitchen with everything we needed from a dishwasher to American fridge/freezer with ice on tap for our celebratory drinks! It had a dining room for breakfasts and casual eating and a wonderful stylish dining room with a a round table that sat 16 people! The grounds were wonderful with a paddock to exercise the dogs. The jacuzzi was such an added bonus and was well used during our weekend as was the games room with pool, snooker, darts and table football. It also had a laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers which came in very handy! In the grounds there was a tennis court, large garden chess and a large garden draughts set. The owners Toni and Terry were a lovely couple and if we needed to know anything they were available in their cottage to ask, nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this house, wonderful for family/friend get togethers with so much to do all under the one roof! We definitely want to return! Thank you so much Toni and Terry for providing such a stunning venue for our celebration! In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger " we will be back"

What a wonderful house! Excellent facilities and it had everything that you could possibly need including hot tub, games room , all the outside games. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and it was all immaculate. We wouldn't hesitate recommending it and it's in a great location too!

We booked the house and cottages for friends and family to celebrate our wedding on 13th September. From the moment we met Toni & Terry we knew we'd done the right thing. They were so helpful sourcing local services and nothing was too much effort. They even strung gorgeous lights all around the garden for us! The grounds lent themselves perfectly to a garden party and the accommodation was comfortable, beautifully decorated but homely. Every one of our guests felt at home. Plenty of space for large groups to sit together inside and out and everything you could need in the house - towels, hair dryers, an iron and enough teapots and toast racks to cater for a small army! My 4 year old godson loved the gardens and the "special playground" as he called it, the giant chess board was an excellent dance floor for the adults (after we'd moved the chess pieces!) and the snooker table was well used. Llangollen and corwen are close by and lovely places to while away an afternoon. I had my hair done at Jades in llangollen - very risky going to a salon the first time on my wedding day but they were brilliant and I highly recommend them. We also ordered in sandwiches from Chatwins bakery - the best sandwiches ever (and they do a mean steak slice!). Perfect place, perfect owners, perfect day. Thank you Toni & terry :-)

We stayed here with friends for 60th birthday. What a lovely house. There were 12 of us and it was great to find somewhere where all the rooms were so comfy and well appoinstay. Loads of seating and the dining room was super. Loved the round table as it meant that we could all chat together. Much more sociable than long tables.

The hot tub was fantastic especially after a long day of sightseeing. The gardens were good, lots of different areas. Even a tennis court. Very friendly owners who only ask that you treat their property with respect. Yes there are a few house rules but that is because of some of the thoughtless behaviour of some previous renters. Loved our stay

We have just spent a week in the 'Grooms cottage' as part of an amazing wedding party. The standard of furnishing and decor is superb and the owners Toni and Terry have made every effort to provide just what you need. The kitchen was well equipped and both bedrooms had an en suite facility. The gardens are beautiful. Toni and Terry were so kind and thoughtful and were happy to give advice and help in any way. They made the wedding arrangements so easy to organise.
There are lots do do around the area and this is the perfect base. Had a magnificent time.
