Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Me and 27 other family members had booked Kings for 3 nights and 4 days. The place is amazing! We loved it. Lovely people, welcomed us very nicely. Children loved it so much. Had the whole place to ourselves. Massive kitchen for self catering with all essentials. Just advice to new drivers there are steep roads so keep that in mind. Nothing negative, beautiful place. Definitely recommended to families. Will book again in future.

Wow what an amazing place. We booked entire place to ourselves. 3 nights of pure magic. Campfires, marshmallows, walks, mud. Sunshine. Friends, space!! The place is fantastic. Dave the owner, what a legend! Nicest guy in Wales can't do enough for you. Tips... take fire lighters and matches for bonfire. You can buy wood there £4 a bag Walk out door turn right and keep walking for amazing walk. Go to barmouth beach. Take clingfilm for sandwiches Bring your own towels Spotlessly clean, great fun for kids can't wait to book again. Ps. The drying room. What a saviour!!!

I’m a YHA member and have just stayed at Kings for a weekend of biking and hiking. The hostel is approached along a single track road in a secluded position. There is on site parking, cycle storage and an adjacent camping field. When I arrived on Friday evening the guy on reception was just leaving and after giving me a guided tour left me in the capable hands of the hostel owner Dave. Both were friendly and hospitable. I bought a couple of beers and enjoyed them with my curry. I had a dorm room booked for two nights and was self catering as I planned a low budget break. There is the option to eat meals prepared on site if you wish. The self catering kitchen is well equipped and there’s a good choice of beer and wine available from reception. I ate in the lounge and there’s an additional dining room if you wish. The dorm was fairly basic with bunk beds but I slept well both nights. Another pillow would have been better but that’s a minor issue. There was a wash basin in the dorm and showers and toilets down the corridor. I cycled the Mawddach Trail and other local landmarks on Saturday. On Sunday I walked up Cadair Idris. It’s possible to do this straight from the hostel grounds thanks to some navigation hints from Dave. This isn’t the place to visit if you’re expecting luxury, but if you want to enjoy a proper youth hostel experience based on the principles of cheap accommodation that lets you enjoy the great outdoors on a budget you won’t have a problem. There’s no mobile phone signal so it’s great for a digital detox. Definitely planning a return visit soon.

We had an unscheduled night at YHA Kings last Thursday after a camping disaster. Thanks to Booking.com we booked the last room available and made our way to the hostel not really knowing what to expect. We arrived at 9pm tired, grumpy and a bit shell-shocked but received such a warm welcome. Our room was perfect, a family en-suite room with 2 bunk beds and 2 single beds - definitely more comfortable than our camping would have been! The self catering facilities, dining room and lounge were all great and the riverside location was beautiful. We'll most definitely be back for a longer scheduled stay next time.

thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very pretty location and a nice hostel - good rooms, a lounge, a dining room with the option to buy dinner. Dave, Claire and Mick provided all the help and beer that we needed. Mountain biking at nearby Coed-y-Brenin was absolutely breathtaking - that was definitely a high for us. The kids enjoyed the mountain stream environment, Mr Snow (a free range rabbit) and the two chickens (also free range). A good place to spend quality family time.

I couldn't rate this place highly enough. We stayed for two nights as part of a walking weekend and I was unsure of what to expect as I was not involved in the booking process. I stayed in a 6 berth room with ensuite toilet and separate shower. The site manager Dave is a great guy who goes above and beyond to ensure you have every thing you could possibly need. He is very friendly and also cooks a cracking breakfast to suit your needs. Nice to have a licensed bar on site which is reasonably priced and has a good selection of local ales. We didn't use the self catering facilities but they looked perfectly sufficient. All of the facilities were found to be spotlessly clean at all times. The only downside is that if you want to go into town of an evening the route is not suitable for walking but it's no bother as Dave arranged taxis for us which were reliable and reasonably priced. You can't have it all ways I guess as the site is otherwise perfectly situated for some great walks. I will more than likely return in the future, it's hard to understand how some places can be so poor when this place is so great for the low price you pay.

We just spent the weekend at Kings so we had quick easy access to Cadair Idris, we walked directly from the Hostel in glorious sunshine. The staff were all really friendly and super helpful. Dave, the site manager was great, a really nice guy. We had breakfasts both days because they were that good. Our room was really cool, felt like being in a log cabin, the showers were really good considering it's a Youth Hostel! The kitchen facilities were spotless and we were made to feel really welcome in all the communal areas. On Saturday night after our long hike and some much needed dinner we even got their log burner going and had a roaring cosy fire whilst we played board games. We'll definitely be going back, next time I hope we can persuade more people to come.

We booked the entire hostel for a church weekend away in November and it surpassed our expectations. Dave, the site manager, was exceptionally helpful and handled our requests patiently and promptly. If you're looking for an off the grid getaway, this is the place for you. Situated in the middle of Snowdonia, there is a river running through the grounds and boasts stunning views. Clean, spacious and warm, I couldn't recommend higher!
