Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

One of the most beautiful b&b I've ever stayed in. Stunning building in perfect location, walking distance everywhere. No car park, but there's long stay cat park in about 4 minutes walk. The owner of the hotel is going above and beyond for his guests. Room was ready early so we could check in few hours before checking in time, more time to use for exploring. Beautiful, spacious room. Literally spotless. Attention to details was on point. We have had everything we needed in our room including bathrobes and water bottles. Easy access to the room and room keys, great communication with the owner. Breakfast in the morning was beautiful. So many positions to choose from. Perfectly cooked with high quality products. Can't praise enough. Top class

Great little find and even managed to get a parking spot outside that was free from 6pm till 10am which worked really well. The host was so welcolming, nothing was a problem. Would highly recommend to friends and family. Dolgellau is a lovely town to spend a weekend at with so many pubs around.

We were in a room downstairs. It was a basic double room with en suite. It was centrally located within easy walking distance to pubs and restaurants. As British beds go, this was more comfortable than most. They seem to be very hard in general, but I was able to get a good night's sleep on this. Room was clean but small, and tended to get stuffy at night (no a/c). Toiletries and hair dryer provided. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful served by Alwyn, who was a great source of local information and history. Notably, because of poor data access while we were traveling and the fact that we made our reservation here at the very last minute, we didn't get messages from the booking service, and since we arrived on a Sunday, we were worried that we would have trouble getting in to our lodging. The owner of Y Meirionnydd worked very hard to contact us, and was immediately available when we arrived and called the local number provided. We felt very well taken care of.

I booked direct , asking for a quiet room . They suggested cadair at the back of the house . It was a moderate size room beautifully decorated and furnished . A big bonus was the view across the rooftops to the mountains . The bathroom was lovely and the shower was powerful and warm . It had little touches like cotton wool balls and tissues and the usual shampoos etc. breakfast was a treat of high quality components cooked to perfection accompanied by a big pot of proper tea . There are a number of parking spots immediately outside the property and a big car park 5 mins away . There are good pubs and eateries all within a two minute walk .

This was our first visit to Y Meirionnydd and we had a wonderful stay. The hosts were very welcoming and our room (Cadair Idris) was very comfortable. The breakfasts were cooked to order and delicous with a good and varied menu. Fresh fruit salad was available each morning, which was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. It was a great base to explore South Snowdonia. We enjoyed the good choice of pubs, restaurants and shops in the village.

We have just returned home from a two night stay at the Y Meirionnydd and what a beautiful place it was. We stayed in the top room (Meirion) which was spacious, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We both had two great nights sleep every with England V Wales on and the local pubs full to the brim. The rooms are tasteful decorated and bright and airy. The food is definitely worth raving about too. The breakfasts were cooked to order and tasted great. There was something for everyone. We made a reservation for the Saturday in their restaurant and we were not disappointed. The pea and mint soup was delicious and we both had the apple tart for dessert which was dreamy. The staff were friendly. I would 100%recommend a stay here. Bare in mind there is no parking but that wasn’t an issue as there are two large car parks just down the road and we were able to park out front in the 9-6, 1 hour parking bays both nights just by luck. There are plenty of other bars and eateries nearby. We also did the walk to Barmouth along the river which is literally at the end of the road from the hotel and stopped at the George III pub by the estuary. Great for walkers, cyclists and as a base for exploring other parts of wales.

This is the first time we have stayed at YM, and would definitely return. We came for a New Year's break looking for quiet surroundings near to the mountains & coat. Marc & the team couldn't have been more welcoming. The quality of the room was excellent & it was also very spacious. The food was superb - and very good value too. The restaurant down in the cellar was lovely. Very efficient service and a nice change from the bigger corporate hotels. We will definitely be back in the spring / summer. Thanks to all the staff.

We have been visiting Dolgellau at New Year for the last few years due to its location and proximity to the mountains and have spent New Year's Eve at the restaurant at Y Meirionnydd (not including lockdown obviously). The food has always been great and the service is absolutely second to none. Mark, Nick and the team are all so friendly and you're made to feel almost part of the family there. This year we stayed for the first time and slept in the Cadair room with views of the mountain. The bed is ridiculously comfortable and hard to get out of as you could stay there all day. Good job the breakfast makes it worth it! We'll definitely be back.
