Great camp site with even greater views. Facilities were good. Lovely to be able to just pick your own spot wherever you want on this very big site, lots of room (no people nearby if that’s what you like). Very friendly staff helped with all our questions.

This is easily the best none electric campsite in the country. Plenty of places to camp. Yes you can get wind and rain but if you are prepared properly this is fine. You have the usual busy fields and also the more sheltered secluded areas as well which can help avoid some of the elements. Great places to explore and also some fantastic beaches including beautiful sand dunes. The campsite has a decent supermarket for food. There is also a camp shop for essential supplies and a gift shop. The pub is nice if you want a break and also the food isn't bad of you cannot be bothered cooking. Some reviews say the site is good but the people arnt. All I say about this is what absolute Snobs.

Don’t let the negative reviews put u off,, the place is magical. Its a bit basic yes but it’s what you make it. We’ve never had a bad time here, there’s no rush to be anywhere or do anything you do exactly what you want. Great for kids to be out playing or be down on the beach. I love the fact if there ipad died that’s it until we go out or go home lol Perfect example of family time .. the toilets and showers have always been clean when I’ve visited. Yes you get hair in the showers but when u have 200 ladies showering in a 3 hour time slot etc… what do u expect. Say no more,, the toilets have always been clean. Theres a toilet waste area for campers vans or tents … there’s a park for the kids and indoor entertainment. Theres a onsite pub and play room. Pizza every night 🙂 The kids love going crabbing and exploring what it has to offer and the sunsets are unreal

Well wanted to stay here for a few years but never been brave enough, we'll I'm now sorry I went. The complex is like a bombed out pontins & reception is like a back street mot centre and the toilets never get cleaned. If you drive a car with blacked out windows, smoke weed & wear under armour clothing youll fit right in.

I'm shocked to read some of these reviews. If you want to free your mind, soul and let your kids be kids, back to basics, building camp fires, no electric, beautiful sunsets, immense views and magical nights under the stars...this is the place to be. If you want mod cons and 'normal life' go elsewhere and leave the rest of us to enjoy this truly magical island. We always camp in the sand dunes and have always found a secluded place to set up camp. Fantastic stay once again.. thank you shell island we will be back soon.

Been coming shell island for years, we try too come at least once a year but still a peacfull place too camp, except for a lot more camper vans than usual during the busy Easter weekend but once Easter Bank Holiday was over the island was quite. Toilet facilities still good miles better than they were 15 years ago, The only thing that I think has let shell island down now is the restaurant, used too get a lovely gammon egg and chips now you get very bland food in comparison. All the staff are always lovely and friendly and always Tey too help you with what ever you need even if you've forgotten the gas pipe and valve The island is very well maintained don't get me wrong s couple.of ares were there is junk living around but that's expected but it's not in the guests way. Was nice too see the inclusion off a football pitch near the main entrance and a dog excessive run put in place aswell Shell island is one of our favourite places too visit and will carry on coming back through the years

Fabulous locations, clean sandy beach, beautiful mountainous views but that's where it stops. At £30 a night you expect clean facilities and the site to have good upkeep and presentation. The same baby wipe had been in the gents urinals for three days and they had not been deep cleaned once, just toilet roll topped up . Lots of large single sex groups which is against their rules , loud music untill the early hours. The main complex is tired and a dumping ground for general scrap, lots of litter and lack of pride in the establishment. The pot washing area was filthy, no plugs and when your emptied your washing bowl it flooded the ground around you- good job we were not wearing flip flops. This site has the potential to be something much greater than what it is if just general pride and rules where abided/inforced by staff

Toilets and showers are shocking, bit chavy The location is perfect but that's all it has to offer. People leave rubbish and it's so full and over crowed i was shocked how many people are there. And apparently this was only half due to covid. Wouldn't want to be there when it's at max number.
