I've stayed at Old Hendre Farm a couple of times now. The host Valerie makes us feel very welcome and the external rooms we stayed in were very comfortable with everything you need for a good nights sleep. As an extra You can have a home cooked breakfast overlooking the beautiful landscape of the farm. I really cant fault our stay here its unbeatable value in a beautiful setting with a lovely host.

Sited on the edge of a working farm, this cottage sleeps 8, all with there own bathroom. The kitchen has all you need to cater for any meal. The lounge has comfortable sofas, good sized tv and a wood burner in the corner. There are finch doors to a patio in a enclosed lawn. Amble parking. The owner Val, pops around to all ok and knows a lot about the Monmouth area.

When you stay at Old Hendre Farm, it’s like staying with a favourite auntie. Val, the owner, is very welcoming, offering us dinner even though we hadn’t booked. The dinner was excellent, home cooked and plentiful in quantity. Val made sure to check our breakfast requirements the night before. The breakfast was very good too, with lots of options including fruit salad, yogurts, cereals, toast, and a full cooked breakfast if you wished; Val was happy to boil me a couple of eggs and they were perfect. Our room was large, as was the bathroom (bath and separate shower). There was no shortage of hot water and the heating was adjustable in both the bedroom and bathroom. I found the bed comfortable but a bit soft and bouncy, but that’s just personal taste. A word of warning: the road (lane?) up to the farm is very narrow, there are passing places and luckily we only met a few vehicles, but drivers should take great care, especially if they are not used to country roads. I would recommend Old Hendre Farm, the location is quiet and very beautiful.

We received a lovely, friendly welcome from Val who runs the bed and breakfast. The farm is located directly on the Offa's Dyke path in a very quiet and peaceful location. Our room was clean with a large bathroom and had super views over the surrounding countryside. Val provided us with a delicious breakfast including catering very well for my need for a gluten-free diet; and then also made us a very substantial packed lunch for our onward walk. I would definitely be happy to stay here again.

3 friends stayed at Old Hendre Farm whilst walking Offas Dyke which runs in front of the farm.

Spacious, well appointed rooms with fabulous views to the rear looking onto the rolling hillside. Both rooms were spotless and well appointed. Breakfast was hearty, extensive and accompanied by a superb selection of fresh produce.

Val was a superb host who presented us with tea and cake on arrival and who took great interest to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Access to an enormous sitting room made a lovely stay even more comfortable.

I would be very happy to stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending the accommodation.

Old Hendre Farm is a top notch B2B as an over night for the hikers on the Offa's Dyke Path. Valerie is an excellent hostess and provides some very quality meals. The living room is an excellent place to chill out with some local IPAs and have a lovely conversation. The view of the rolling pastures and fields are soothing to ones soul.

Valerie couldn't do enough for us- especially appreciated the pot of tea and chocolate brownie when we turned up exhausted and near nightfall! Very clean and comfortable. Generous breakfast. Even dried our boots! Good stop just 3 miles outside Monmouth on the Offa's Dyke Path. Highly recommended

We stayed at Old Hendre Farm while walking the Offa's Dyke path.
It was difficult to find places around that accept dogs, but we were made very welcome here by the very kind hostess. We could stay with our dog in one of the cabins, though not in the main house. It was very comfortable with everything we needed after a long day walking.
Highlight was the delicious homecooked food, traditional plates with a personal twist such as field mushroom gravy.
Don't miss a stay here if you're walking along Offa's dyke!

Old Hendre is a nice spot in the country with great views and wonderful people. The Roost was perfect for me, as I was cycling through and didn't need fancy accommodations. Hot shower, a full kitchen save for a hob, and a quiet place to sleep were all I needed. Val's got a BnB, so there's very much a full service aspect to things: of you need something, just ask! A full breakfast is optional and very nice, especially shared with other guests. Beautiful area with fantastic views of sunset and sunrise, a very nice forest adjoining, and close to Monmouth (about 25-30 minutes by bike). I'm headed to the Brecons next!
