Great location ,plenty of parking, bedding was clean, same can't be said of the carpets, sticking to your feet in parts of the hall which also had foul smell through out, bedroom was very stale smelling and very hot ,even with window opened, shower, carpets need replacing, toilet and sink clean though same could not be said of the toilet door! Kettle in the room but no tea or coffee provided. Fresh towels provided but piled up on a table out in the open next to reception. Overall very poor value for money,it does however have potential given it's location but in need of a complete overhaul, however I wouldn't recommend
friends of ours were staying at the hotel and said it was a lovely little place to stay however we only visited them for drinks in the bar so can only actually say what the bar areas are like we found the bar and surrounding areas to be very clean and the staff were very friendly drinks were on a par with what you paid in the local pubs so it was no more expensive to drink in the hotel as most other places close by it was right and the bottom end of town opposite the free car park so if the hotel car park was full there is other parking just across the road
Stayed one night here as working in Monmouth. The hotel is well located, right off the main road into town and has free parking at the back of the hotel or in the free car park opposite. It’s exactly as stated - good value, friendly and helpful staff; excellent breakfast (they don’t do lunches or dinners but there are lots of options close by). It’s a no frills place but is spotlessly clean. My room was fine and no noise at all - mine was a room at the back in first floor. If you’re not after the Ritz then the Riverside ticks all the boxes.
We visited this hotel to attend a family wedding party and chose the hotel based on its close vicinity to the function. Having read previous reviews we weren’t expecting the ritz but was simply happy that “it was just a bed for a night”. However I must say that it was more than comfortable enough for our requirements. As per other reviews the place could do with a little facelift, to bring it up to date, however everything was clean and tidy and everything worked as expected. The room was big enough for the four of us and we had two rooms that we interconnecting which was great. It was nice to see that the room was supplied with more than enough tea, coffee and milk etc which we normally always need to request more off, but not on this occasion. Breakfast was good and all cooked freshly for our requirements. That said a little menu of what they offer cooked would be great as this wasn’t provided so had to ask. I must commend all the staff as they were extremely busy but always were very friendly and happy to assist with any requirements the guests had. All in all we would return should we need a base in Monmouth again. …
First impressions are not the package you receive. Rooms are noisy and really quite shabby, breakfast is reasonable, no evening food available ~ listed as a restaurant,,, not the case, modern day fawlty towers without the humour. It’s not appalling but very close.
