Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for four nights. And I already want to go back.

Warm showers, wood, no internet (which was great), some sheep, calming waterfall, mythical towns and incredible hiking trails directly from the campsite.

There isn’t drinkable water and the shepherd dogs like to bark sometimes. But you quickly forget about all the imperfections and worries when you are warmly welcomed by the hostesses: Katy.

She was a delightful person who loved to hear about what you did that day. And she was always making sure everything was clean.

Such a gorgeous camp spot. We had a lovely few days camping. Reasonably priced considering the location (at the foot of Snowdon Watkin path). Very basic facilities and absolutely no signal for phones etc (who needs it there?!) and fall asleep to the soothing sound of the waterfalls. Perfection! Easy check in, private fire pit (option to purchase firewood). Only downside (and not worth dropping stars) is that you have to travel about half an hour to get to the nearest shop.

For a back to basics campsite, this place is great. It’s remote so no signal and no shops close by - but I loved this. It’s set further back from the road so no road noise. Lots of natural seating. Great views and plenty of space with two fields. Lovely recently refurbished women’s toilets and showers. No readily available drinking water but that’s not uncommon in back to basics. Not sure if it was the time of year I visited - or the fact it was raining all weekend - but it was really quiet, no noisy groups, no music (very rare these days!!!), everyone in bed early, no cars coming and going. Pure bliss! Added bonus was the very friendly and absolutely lovely campsite manager. As a solo woman, I felt very safe. Would love to stay here again but I do wonder what it would be like in the busier and often noisier summer holidays…

The location for climbing snowdon via the watkin path is fantastic if you are interested in doing that then stop for 1 or 2 nights at the most. Terrible location for anything else no decent shops close by for supplies. Nearest is Porthmadog a good 25-30 minute drive away. The gents only had 1 toilet and 1 shower for a campsite with 35 pitches! Ridiculous! The views aren’t that great either. Fire pits was good £7 a night for as much wood as you want. I wouldn’t stop here again with the family the only way I would stop here again would be if I was doing the watkin path with some friends.

We have adored this campsite and have been coming back for 13 years, BUT the last 4 nights have been the worst nights sleep ever. The farmers dogs have had puppies and the dogs and the puppies bark CONSTANTLY day and night and are housed next to the campsite. We had to buy earplugs to sleep and even then we could still hear them. This will be our last holiday at HafodYLlan. And that makes me extremely sad. The lady who checks the site said she has passed complaints on to the powers that be but nothing has been done. As this happened the last time too we will be finding another site for our next camping holiday.

Stayed here for one night with child, teenager and our dog. Our pitch was next to a beautiful stream, the campsite is basic and natural, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The walk up Watkins Path past waterfalls and crystal clear pools is just amazing. The lack of phone signal and WiFi adds to the beauty of it all!! Will definitely be back and wished we had spent our entire week there instead of going to other places.

This is a gorgeous little camp site with basic facilities, which is perfect for me. However, there's no point staying here as you can't get any sleep! The constant barking dogs all night is a huge problem and seriously need’s to be addressed. Unfortunately I won't be returning until this issue is resolved :(

We stayed for a week from the end of August into early September 2015 and found the campsite to be a little treasure. My two young tennagers, male and female both found the facilities very clean and comfortable.

The campfire with wood readily provided, gorgeous view, clothes dryer, lots of info in the information hut and immaculate loos / showers meant we were very impressed.

With the £1 a night discount for staying more than four nights we managed to have a week's holiday away for less than £100 which was what made it possible for us to have a family holiday away this year.

The campsite is in a beautiful setting which reminds me of wild British Columbia. Babbling stream, large shady oaks, sheep in adjacent fold and of course mountains and lakes. Want starry skies then this is a superb place to bring your binoculars.

The staff deserve a massive compliment for the superb standard they keep the site as well as the thoughtfulness they clearly have for providing information as well as a simple unintrusive registration / payment system. All thoroughly appreciated.

A cautionary note - The narrow road leading to the campsite did have long grass growing along the road edge which hid a large flint rock that destroyed a wheel. A suggestion to the staff that the rock might be removed to make safe was met with dismissive excuses. Sadly it cost £70 to have the tyre and wheel rim replaced. By the way speed and carelessness was not a factor - just couldn't see the rock in the road due to long floppy grass.

What a lovely little campsite that is back to basics!
Having been to many a campsite that has all the facilities, it was lovely coming back down to earth.
A basic campsite with no hot water (except for the showers (20p)) it was beautiful to sit outside and listen to the river running past.
There are also fire pits with enough wood to keep warm on a bitterly cold evening.
Based at the bottom of the Watkins path, it's an ideal base for experienced walkers to walk up to the summit of Snowdon, with Beddgelert a short drive away (you must see Gelerts Grave to understand the story)
Best bit for us - no mobile phone signal - RESULT!!!

This is a very pleasant campsite with no hot water and no kitchen facilities.. not much more to say. There were midges, but most campsites in Snowdonia have them too.
The NT lady that was tidying the place was really attractive...
