Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked this trip for a group of 5 girls for two nights via Pitchup.com. We had looked around a lot as most campsites did not accept large groups and clearly stated this on their profiles however this campsite did not state this on the Pitchup website. We arrived on Saturday and it was quite busy and we realised it was a family friendly camp. The campsite is great value for money with fab views and location as well as decent toilet facilities.

However, on the Saturday night we met another group on the park and had drinks with them which resulted in quite a late night. Unfortunately we were rather loud which was completely our fault and though we thought we were quiet as nobody approached us to ask to turn the music down. But the next morning, we were greeted by the camp warden who made us aware that we had many complaints from other guests when they had left the camp that morning. We apologised for this and they were kind enough to let us stay on the site for another night.

What we found completely unacceptable however, was that we were expected to foot the bill for all the guests who complained as without us knowing the site owner had chosen to refund them. Some of these tents were no where near our pitch and we don’t believe they could have heard us at all and instead think some people just wanted to get a free stay when they heard others had complained and been refunded. We understand that it’s a family business and that unhappy guests doesn’t encourage them back and that was our fault. But paying £170 was extortionate and we weren’t given any exceptions. There were other cases of loud music being played through the camp and even scents of marijuana but no one was charged for these incidents . We feel that as a group of young students we have been taken advantage of by the site owner for this reason.

Definitely recommend this site for couples and families but if you’re thinking of making much noise you best have your pockets lined well. Wouldn’t accept card either so we had to pay £170 in cold hard cash. Seems odd to me!

Just enjoyed a 2 night stay at Tyddyn Goronwy to celebrate my birthday. Site facilities were nice and clean. Pitch allocation a bit haphazard, no allocated pitch, just told to find one, which when booked 3 electric pitches, was impossible to find all together.
On arrival, Site manager asked how much we'd been quoted upon booking over the phone. We advised £20 small tent, £25 large tent/camper van. He said this was in fact incorrect! He told us to set up our tents and he would come along to price up our pitch. After setting up, in the rain, and putting all our belongings in the tents, he came to look. After lots of pacing out the size and alot of head scratching, he advised our 6 man tunnel tent was in fact £50 a night! Yes you read that right £50 PER NIGHT!! Plus he insisted that all payments were made in cash. We advised we didn't have the cash on us, and could pay card. This wasn't an option. He said he would return the next day when we'd been to the cash machine. I was astounded, I have never been charged £50 a night, not even on luxury sites in Cornwall with swimming pools and full facilities, never mind a sloping field in Talybont! We had stayed on a sister site next door, Moelfre View, 5 weeks ago, booking online, and paid £25 per night. Both sites are owned by Sunnysands Holiday Park. Incensed at the cheek of the manager, I called Sunnysands at 9.05am as soon as they opened to query the situation, and they were really helpful and advised what he'd said was incorrect! They advised the price is £28 per night regardless of size of unit, but they would do it for £25 as an apology and we could pay card over the phone, which I did. I asked that the manager be told we'd paid, and was advised a Director would call him. Later that day, on returning to the site, he came again asking for the £50 a night! When we told him we'd paid, he argued that Sunnysands were wrong! His pitches were more expensive than the sister site, as they're not marked out?? Would not having marked pitches warrant a further £22 a night?? I think not, and sent him on his way with a flea in his ear. I felt sorry for the young families around us who had brought their little ones away camping, expecting to pay about £75 for the weekend, to pay £150 cash! Just be warned if booking this site, which is lovely may I add, to phone up and pay via Sunnysands before your visit and get a receipt. The site is run by Dick Turpin, but without the mask!!

Myself and 4 friends visited this site at the very end of July. We booked via pitch up.com.

The site is in a lovely location, 15 min walk from the beach, close to the lovely White Hart Inn and has brilliant transport links with the train station being next door to the site. This train can take you to Barmouth and beyond within 15 mins and it is relatively cheap.

On the other hand, the site is next to neighbouring caravan parks that diverge to the Sands Pub and arcade just down the road. This is quite a rough area (expect a Benidorm or Skegness like atmosphere).

The site has clean and hygienic facilities, showers/toilets and washing facilities.

I think the site is a bit pricey for what you get. £100 for 3 nights in a non-electric standard grass pitch seemed excessive. In addition we travelled in 2 small cars and you have to pay an additional £15 for another small car which again seems a bit silly. Firewood that the site offers is also expensive. Lake District sites in much more picturesque locations are a fraction of the price with better perks and facilities.

The site manager Alex seemed helpful enough. He seemed a bit judgemental upon arrival seeing 5 young lads but i suppose that comes with previous experiences.

Overall, a good stay in a great staycation location but I do think the prices are just a little to high for what you get.

Me my partner stayed in one of the pods with our dog. Alex was extremely helpful and friendly on arrival, phone numbers are posted on the reception building if they are not there so you can always contact them with anything you need. Pod was clean and functional it had 2 plug sockets and 2 usb ports and handy having picnic bench. Amazing views and campsite was always clean and tidy as a gentleman was cleaning bathrooms and litterpicking everyday, we went midweek so the toilets/showers/washing up did not have any queuing. Dogs are to be leashed whilst on the site. Mini mart, chippy/pizza place, beach only a few minutes away. Relaxed atmosphere and felt safe whilst there. Noise was no issue quietened down at 9pm slept really well all night. Cannot recommend enough!

It was our first overnight stay in our campervan so didn't really know what to expect. On arrival, we were greeted at Reception by Alex. Immediately he was so helpful.... He walked around the site with us showing us where we could park and offering advice and suggestions etc.

We initially had a problem with our electric hook up and Alex again extremely helpful came over to the van to see if he could work out the problem (which he did).

We enjoyed a wonderful stay - beautiful site, brilliant manager, beach, amusements, pub, shop, ice cream shop etc all just a 5 minute walk away.

We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Alex and if I could I would offer a 6 star review 😊

We booked a 4 night break here and we were lucky with the weather but even on a wet day this place is fab. Alex was a great host and couldn't do enough for the campers. The site has great views from almost all pitches. You can walk to lots of lovely beaches. Get the train from the local village or walk to the pub up the road. It really is an amazing site. No groups are allowed and this is good! You can get eggs from the chickens onsite and have a bbq or rent a fire pit. Highly recommend visiting Harlech beach.

It is difficult to rate this site as, in some aspects, what for me was a terrible experience others may find appealing. I guess it depends on who you are and what you are looking for. If you are a solo traveller or a couple seeking peace, quiet and tranquility surrounded by beautiful landscapes and with a gorgeous golden beach a stones through away - this is not the place for you. If, however, you are looking for somewhere with a bar and some thing to entertain the kids then this could be suitable. Clearly I am not the right audience for a place like this and I would not leave a poor rating just because I was in the wrong place for me, that's my bad. The poor rating is based solely on the site. To start, I mentioned the "glorious golden beaches" were a draw for me...the dirty nappy on the path on the walk through the site had me almost turning round and heading for the hills. But no, we persevered on to the shore...to find even more detritus including broken glass and a used sanitary pad. So we hightail it back to site, not before stopping of at the onside toilets which were horrendous! They had clearly not been cleaned all day, bits of loo roll all over the show, unidentifiable brown mess on the walls (though you can probably guess what it was). Left there quickly only to nearly sink through the decking thanks to a loose board. We hunkered down for the night in the hopes that the toilets would be fairing a lot better once cleaned in the morning. They were, briefly, looking a bit better after the cleaners came round at 10, though hints of "brown" were still in situ. They were disgusting again by 11 and at this point we gave up, packed up and left. Still had another night booked and paid for but we cut our losses, maybe use our 30 quid for some nails and a hammer to get that decking fixed!

We went to stay at this location booked on pitch up.com but we were treated inappropriately at this site as we were told to move our tent when we set it up on the given location. We were told that site is not for us but when we entered we were
told to set up the tent anywhere. It is wastage of almost 04 hrs of setting
the tent and then told to move it.We requested that it should have been
informed to us before setting the tent but nobody had any objections with
that.We had to leave the site as we didn't like the behaviour of the
neighbours.we have to book a hotel in barmouth town for £85.00 due to
inappropriate behaviour at this site.We were told we will get the refund but when we asked the refund later from customer service then it was rejected saying that you had put the tent on the wrong place at the site on the booking day.I am a health professional and my wife is IT Trainer as we both are in good profession.

We have just returned from a Bank Holiday stay at Tyddyn Goronwy. Overall the site is in a nice convenient setting, a short drive from local attractions and next to the train station. Staff were welcoming and helpful on arrival however we did not see anyone after the check in process. We had a nice stay but would not return given the poor cleanliness of the facilities. The toilet and shower block were filthy and we never came across a cleaner during our 3 night stay.
