Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel's Favourite
A friendly welcome on arrival, room 3 had a fantastic view, the room was spotless & the bed was so comfy. We ate in the hotel for both breakfast & dinner and the food was excellent. What makes this hotel so special is the staff...each & everyone of them go above & beyond to make your stay a good experience, Sam & Andrew were just 2 of the staff that deserve a mention (unfortunately we didn't get anymore names) but all of the staff really were magnificent. The only down side for some maybe is that it is in quite an isolated place so you need a car but if you don't mind a drive to get to other places on the island then I would 100% recommend this hotel.

We had booked the standard king room for 2 nights. On arrival we were terribly disappointed as the room we were given was no more than a box room - dark, small window, sprung mattress. It was no 8. I asked if we could change rooms as it wasn’t as per the photos. I was told by the afternoon receptionist that they had 14 rooms and couldn’t take photos of all of them - which was a strange response. She told us she could move us for that night but that they were fully booked the next evening. We said we would let her know. We went to the bar for a drink. And decided that we weren’t happy and would check out without staying. The reception closed abut 5 so we couldn’t speak to anyone. I asked to speak to the hotel manager, but he wasn’t due in until abt 8pm. However Carl, the restaurant manager was so lovely. He suggested we had a drink and our planned meal and that he would speak to the manager when he arrived. We did just that - our meal was lovely and the staff were very accommodating. So we decided to stay the night and check out the next morning. We went down for breakfast which was ok. We then went to reception and told Kelly( a different receptionist) that we were checking out. She asked the reason why, so I explained. She checked on the system and said that room No.4 would be available after about 12 and would we like to have a look at it. Which we did. It was lovely, nice big window with views of the Bay, larger room and a comfy memory foam mattress (unlike the awful sprung bed in room no.8). Kelly couldn’t have been more helpful and is a credit to the hotel. From then on we really enjoyed our stay. If it wasn’t for Carl & Kelly we definitely would have left the first night. We ate in the restaurant the second evening and once again the food was lovely. Then there was live music which was really good. During the evening the owner of the hotel came over to speak to us and apologise for what had happened. The hotel is in a lovely area and we had a wonderful drive out in the afternoon. If you are going to stay, the best rooms are rooms 3 & 4.

I have visited the Gadlys a few times in the last couple of months. Have been once when they have had evening entertainment with a dj, and its been great fun! My other visits were during the daytime both weekdays and weekends. Great team, both bar and front of house. Shout to out Carl the Manager and Zoe working front of house. Lovely food and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Staying in Cemaes Bay for a few nights for my partner’s birthday and we had decided to visit the hotel for a birthday meal as we had heard good things about the place .We arrived early and decided to have a few drinks and were served by a pleasant young lady , who when we were ready showed us to our table and took our food order . Our meals were very good as was the service , I really couldn’t fault anything , I was quite shocked to see a really bad review on here before we went , and having read it found it strange that the review he’d noting to do with the food , drink or the quality service that we received last night ,but a complaint about the dog friendly area being cleaned , a rather unfair and bizarre review , the place is spot on and would recommend it to anyone

We were recommended by friends and drove to Gadlys with our dogs which took over 40 minutes. When we walked in the area where dogs were allowed was closed as it had been cleaned that morning. The staff attempted to find an area we could sit but the smell of chemicals was overpowering so we left. There were only a couple of other customers in there and I'm sure my wife, myself, and dogs would not have caused any upset. Not great service, won't go again or recommend.

Had the steak and lamb of the specials menu, service was prompt and friendly, steak was amazing perfectly cooked, veg and chips and sauce also amazing, we both thoroughly enjoyed the meal...and great views over the bay, husband loved his meal too and said it was best golden ale he had on our trip, will definitely be back and recommend, a real hidden gem...

Stayed here for one night while walking the Anglesey Coastal Path: the hotel is conveniently located less than half-a-mile from the path in an elevated position with views across the bay. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a lovely meal in the Bay View Restaurant in the evening and a good breakfast the next morning. Highly recommended.

Generally a comfortable hotel. Basic amenities in the room albeit a little cramped for two. The shower was great although the extractor fan made a banging noise - solved by turning off the isolation switch when not using the shower. Fairly quiet overall but walls quite thin so that you can hear the extractor fan being turned on in the next room or alarming creaking noises by the floorboards in the room above when the occupants walking around. Dinner's were lovely although the menu is a bit restricted if you're going to stay more than a few days. The hot chocolate fondant is to die for! Breakfasts are basic although you can mix and match. Nothing really special about the food at breakfast but it does the job. The hotel let themselves down on our last morning with sub-par cooking and service. Staff were fabulous and approachable - they really make you feel comfortable and are very helpful.
