Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were made very welcome and well looked after. Good breakfast, lovely comfortable room with view of garden. The owners had lots of local knowledge and were happy to chat with us about places to visit based on our interests and holiday plans. Easy to find. Good location for exploring the area. Plenty of parking space. Great place to stay

The owners have a wonderful little hideaway and are so welcoming! The rooms are pristine, showers are amazing and breakfast was super tasty! If we come this way again we'll definitely see if they've got availability!

I loved staying here. Excellent location for commuting to various sights. Value for money. Decent room and amenities. The service was outstanding. We were made to feel right at home. We arrived windswept and pelted with sand from spending the afternoon on the beach. Our hostess was magic. She washed our beach towel and t-shirts. I really appreciated that. She got the TV remote working when we couldn't. Breakfast was great. Plenty of choice and great quality. She was so warm and helpful. I can't quite believe how we lucked out on this place. I'd highly recommend it. We had a brilliant time here and the swimming spot at Llyn Idwal was made even better by a clean towel! Thank you Maen Hir!!

Great location for exploring the Isle of Anglesey. Warm welcome clean rooms with tea, coffee and biscuits plus a cool bag each day with water and fresh milk. free parking and Wi-Fi, and Steve's amazing 10 piece breakfast. Waking up to the rabbits munching grass on the lawn and the hospitality made this a pleasant and relaxing stay. Eirian and Steve are so friendly and helpful with there local knowledge and are worthy of a five star rating...will definitely be staying there again in the future.

This was a lovely b and b experience, so peaceful sipping wine on the terrace in the evening watching the sun go down! Maen Hir is tucked away, but only a short drive to so many places...lovely bedroom with lots of thoughtful little extras that guests might need. Such friendly hosts, great breakfast...and lovely pure cotton sheets. Hope to visit again soon!

Lovely guest house in welcoming residents and fantastic breakfast. It is very quiet and in almost in a rural setting. There is plenty of car parking and lovely patio amongst flower pots / borders to sit outside in the sun. Rooms are rather small and double bed just about fits. Ensuite was clean and impacable but again rather small, including shower. Bed being only double was little cramped for two of us rather very average size couple on thin side. Wifi was strong

Maen Hir Guest House - Sunday 20th November 2022 - 17:55 Update: Sunday 4th December We realised that we’d left a charger behind, we spoke with our hosts who offered to post it to us. It arrived the other day with a hand written note, asking if we and our cat had settled into our new home. I offered to pay for postage but they don’t want anything. Original Post: Sunday 20th November 2022 - 17:55 I made my booking but later I had to change it by a day and then again as my partner was now travelling with me. This wasn’t a problem for our host. I mentioned I had to leave the next morning by 07:00 to collect my cat from the cattery and then drive to Holyhead for the ferry, I was expecting them to say I would miss breakfast but instead we were offered an early breakfast from 06:00. Most places have set times for breakfast and don’t alter them. The post code on my SatNav didn’t bring me to the location so I pulled up outside a Mazda Showroom and called them, turns out they are situated just behind the showroom. You might like to use the What 3 Words app as it easier to locate them; the three words below will bring you to the front door. ///MOVIE.HOTELS.CUSTODIAN Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly. We were shown to a big room with a double and two single beds, comfy beds with nice pillows. In the room was a nice big TV with Sky, including movies and sports. Our room had its own BT hub for internet and the speed was great. There is a kettle with tea/ coffee/ hot chocolate but no fridge but we were given a cold bag with water and milk so a fridge wasn’t needed. Bathroom is big with a nice walk in shower but most of all it was spotlessly clean. If you want to pop out there is a side entrance so you can use to come and go. Breakfast Nice table layout. Selection of cereals. Tea was served in a pot and I had my own cafeteria of coffee, drunk from china cups and saucers. Full English breakfast was cooked fresh and the beans are served in a separate dish. Nice thick, tasty bacon. I had a really great sleep, i had a lovely breakfast; I feel refreshed and I’m ready for the ferry and 2hr drive at the other end. Previously when we have travelled from Holyhead early we always stay at a chain hotel the night before but after finding this little gem we will stay here in future.
