Recently stayed at Ruthin Castle for my wife's birthday of which was a surprise for her as I had booked it without her knowing. If you are going to stay here I highly recommend the The Prince of Wales Suite. Well worth paying the extra for such a fantastic room. The interior of this suite is wonderful, and having read...

Ruthin castle is an exquisite setting providing a perfect place for relaxation. From wonderful spa facilities to big comfy armchairs in the bar, to the chandelier sparkling fine dining restaurant, it is a place for a special experience. The classic rooms are small but beautifully furnished so it's best to opt for deluxe for more space. There are plenty of...

My wife and I were treated to an overnight stay, 2 course dinner with a glass of Prosecco each and £15 each towards a spa treatment. We arrived early and decided to venture down to the spa. Don't use the stairs, but be advised the lift must have been one of the prototypes for today's lifts. We were cheerfully informed...

Dear elwynj269 Thank you for your feedback following a recent stay. Similar to all other establishments, it is advisable that you book any treatments required in advance, to avoid disappointment. It is seldom that we would ever have availability in the Spa on the day of arrival unless there had been a cancellation. I am sorry if this had an...

We attended one of the best weddings ever! Great staff and great experience. However, that's where it stopped! We arrived at 1:30pm to be ready for 2pm but they wouldn't let us check-in - even though our room was ready! We had to get changed in the public area toilets!! The bed in the room was that old it swallowed...

Dear gizago Thank you for your feedback following a recent stay. It is clearly stated on all correspondence that the bedrooms are not accessible until 3pm, if you require an early check-in, we do advise that you also book the bedroom for the night prior to the event. We have a member of Management on duty from 8am until 11pm,...

My partner and I stayed for one night in the castle we were so excited as we had received a virgin experience voucher to stay in a magical Welsh castle on our anniversary. We were badly let down mainly due to the hotels facilities, the place needs a major facelift. The spa was terrible honestly the management should really just...

Decide to take my mother out for lunch on her 87 birthday. Café Florence was closed due to storm Doris, On the square was booked up. On to a very definite third choice. Walked in to reception with the atmosphere of a mausoleum and a receptionist who I think wanted to be elsewhere. Found the bar, later found the barman....

Excellent breakfast in comfortable surroundings, for morning meeting. Parking might be a problem in centre of Ruthin, but you can always park 'out'& cycle in, not withstanding the hills of course! Will be back.

Huge rooms with tiny plastic electric heaters and a broken heating system. 14 peacocks' poo all over outside. No one cleaning it up. And it's a hazard for slipping. No one doing maintenance at all outside as far as we could see. Rotting windowsills outside. Moldy window frames inside. An old wooden bridge across the dry moat which was rotten...

Purchased Groupon voucher for one nights stay, breakfast, dinner and 2 glasses of prosseco. Room was small but contained all the necessary amenities. Bath was excellent, bed was very comfortable. Room was clean and tidy but hotel in need of TLC however this can be overlooked considering the history of the castle. Grounds are beautiful with lots of peacocks wandering...

Had one night in this hotel, which in the main was a great stay. the location was brilliant and is a 5 minute walk into the town which has a very homely feel to it and great traditional pubs and restaurants. The place itself is to a very high standard, with peacocks roaming the grounds and ruins which we loved...
