An ideal holiday location especially for families or groups keen to visit The Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, or walk the Offa`s Dyke Path. The village has The Skirrid Mountain Inn, which is the oldest pub in Wales and was used as Judge Jeffrie`s Court. The scenery is superb with The Skirrid Mountain behind and The Black Mountains just beyond the village. Ideally situated to explore the Wye Valley, Welsh Border Country, Forest of Dean, The Brecon Beacons National Park & South Wales.

Had a great time with the family and have stayed many times before. Good points: Not too expensive and dog friendly. Cake and milk on arrival Not to good points: The cottage was full of cobwebs on arrival, so much that I hoovered before setting down for bed. This was an issue before when I have stayed, and the cobwebs are huge so not a new problem. Banister loose on the stairs, toilet seat also loose, shower not working at all. Bathroom has an odour of urine and has been subjected to a dodgy refurb where the main electric cables are visible. It’s sad to see the decline in the cottages over the years and general lack of love, they are in desperate need of a cash injection and a good quality refurbishment. I can’t fault the welcome but the negative issues didn’t balance this out so I think this was the last stay for us.…

We come here every year with our dogs. Enjoy the mountains. Eat great food. Drink wine. Generally chill. The weather wasn't with us for our fortnight but we still had an epic time. This is perfect if you are a large family that want to be together but want your own space too. Three cottages in a row plus B & B in the farmhouse. There's also space for horses. Nothing is impossible on negotiation!

I would not return to this campsite if it was free. Toilet block was unclean and unfit for use as there was no toilet roll in any of the toilets, toilet blocked & light out in the ladies. Road next to the campsite was extremely busy and noisy. A group of young adults returned to site at 2AM and continued to make noise until 5AM.

Second year staying here whilst riding with Trans Wales Trails. What a lovely welcome with a cup of tea and amazing cake. The rooms are comfy and have lovely little touches. Breakfast was worth getting up for. All in all couldn’t recommend highly enough if you’re looking for b&b in the Brecon area.

Came here as part of the Trans Wales Trails and if I am ever to come back to the Brecon I would be sure to stay here. One of the best cakes I have ever eaten on arrival, first class breakfast in the morning, Beautiful house and location, great for anyone wanting to explore Brecon - particularly Offa's Dyke which we rode across. Nothing was too much trouble, but we couldn't have asked for more anyway! Great facilities in the room, down to the smallest touches. You truly feel like you are at home when you stay here. Highly recommend,

Good bedroom with tea-making facilities, en-suite shower room. Great breakfast. Garden to sit in. Friendly host could not have been more helpful including giving us a lift to the trail. Village has convenience store selling sandwiches, fruit etc. And an excellent pub.

A mile off the Offas Dyke Path but walking that extra mile to get to this delightful place is well worth it. Met by Idris who owns the B n B, we were made welcome straight away. That welcome included a large slab of cake to enjoy with a cup of tea in the room. The rooms are cozy, clean and very tastefully quirky. Breakfast was plentiful and included cereals, yoghurts, fruit, toast and a fry up.. What more could you ask for.. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone ..

My dad, brother and myself greatly enjoyed our short stay at Pen-y-Dre while walking Offa’s Dyke Path. The B&B rooms are in the marvellously characterful old farmhouse. We shared the spacious family on the top floor: it had everything we needed, most importantly a good shower and a tea-making area (there’s fresh milk in the fridge). Cosy beds, a sofa and plentiful charging points were all appreciated too. Idris and Gwen couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. The welcome cake and cooked breakfast were both scrumptious. We’d definitely stay again.

Just came back from a weekend of walking in South Wales and this was an amazing place to stay. We had the family room which was perfect, loads of space and everything we could want. The owners could not have been nicer, they even looked after the dog one night so we could go to the pub. The breakfast was also great, just what we needed before a day in the hills.

We just stayed one night here as part of a riding holiday. We were welcomed with a cup of tea and a huge slice of homemade Victoria sponge in their massive warm Welsh kitchen. The bedrooms were also a good size and spotlessly clean and comfortable with plenty of towels and a robe. Fresh milk for tea making! Definitely stay here if you are in the area.
