Having enjoyed our stay at the sister hotel, Twr Y Felin, earlier in the year we opted to try Penrhiw for a different experience and stayed in The Coach House. And we loved it! The same high standards prevailed and indeed the housekeeping staff went above and beyond to sort out a couple of housekeeping issues. The countryside location of this lovely period house is perfect for walking to the cathedral and is beautifully quiet. We plan a return stay next year. We would recommend the High Tea at Twr Y Felin and our evening dining experience at Blas Restaurant was sublime. The front of house welcome and overall customer service are outstanding.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Penrhiw Priory in early May 2024.

We booked the trip to celebrate my birthday, and were most appreciative when the reception team arranged for us to collect our keys a little earlier on the afternoon of our arrival, knowing that we had driven down from Swansea on what transpired to be an extremely hot day.

The drive down to Penrhiw was beautifully scenic, and we were delighted to find our room immaculately presented, with a birthday card and box of chocolates left waiting for me, too. We appreciate art and were delighted to see a Brendan Stuart Burns painting in the room, too!

We explored the grounds and enjoyed seeing a hare, rabbits and even a badger during our short stay. The views were spectacular.

The breakfast provided was lovely: lots of choice, catering to various dietary needs, and a nice opportunity to chat with our fellow guests and the staff. Members of staff were most helpful and one even kindly offered to carry a tray upstairs to our room for me.

Osian in the reception team was most helpful both before and during our stay, and was very welcoming and pleasant during both check-in and check-out.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable visit and look forward to returning in future. A huge *diolch yn fawr* to the whole team at Penrhiw.

First time we have stayed in a St Davids hotel as we normally self cater in this beautiful part of Britain, and we loved every minute of our stay. Peaceful, elegant and with stunning views over the countryside, it's a very special place to visit. Breakfast (continental) is fresh and tasty. You can go to their sister hotel 5 minutes drive away and pay a small charge for a larger cooked breakfast but we didn't bother. Bedroom (Treetops) has a stunning view of Carn Llidi and is beautifully appointed with a large comfy bed, sound system and large ensuite. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating without being "in your face". We will certainly return.

We were extremely impressed with Penrhiw Hotel. Booked to celebrate a big birthday in peace, it was perfect! The hotel is both historical yet stylishly modern. Simple, high quality decor with many extras provided. The room (Garden) has a super king four poster bed which was incredibly comfortable. The room had a seating are curtained off which was quirky and cosy. A fridge full of water, milk and a bottle of birthday Presecco was present, along with a coffe pod machine, kettle and teas &hot chocolate, and Aberffraw biscuits A charging station, radio and tv were also in the room. The bathroon was just as stylish and of the highest spec. This bathroom was fitted with a large walk-in shower.

The ambience was peaceful, and the lack of staff was no bother at all, if anything it made it feel more homely. There were staff in the morning providing a buffet breakfast and hot drinks. This breakfast was of the highest quality, absolout perfection. They staff were polite and suble in their service adding to the relaxed ambience.

We loved it so much and although we left today, are planning to retun as soon as we can.

An utterly beautiful hotel and a completely perfect stay. Only a few rooms with large lounge and honesty bar made you feel like you were in the most wonderful home. Breakfast was beautiful. You can pay an extra £5 for a full cooked breakfast at the sister hotel but we opted for the continental at Penrhiw and were glad we did. I messaged to say I had a dairy intolerance and to ask if I could have some dairy free milk for breakfast. Not only did they provide that, but dairy free yoghurt, spread and vegan croissants along with dairy free milk in the room fridge. The bed was really comfy and we slept well because of this and the peaceful location. 10 mins max walk into St Davids. Would stay again in a heartbeat. It was perfect.

We stayed at Penrhiw Priory for our wedding anniversary, and it was amazing. The staff had left us a bottle of Prosecco and rose petals on the bed, which was incredibly thoughtful, everyone was so helpful and kind.

We stayed on the top floor of the coachhouse, it’s beautifully decorated and cosy but not small. The bed is so comfortable, and the blinds over the velux windows help ensure the room is dark at night, it’s also private and slightly away from the main house.

The continental breakfast was delicious, pastries are served fresh and still warm, with a nice selection of cereals, local cheeses and cured meats too.

The priory is in the prefect location, the drive to both St David’s and the beach takes a few minutes at most, the grounds around the priory are also lovely to spend the day in.

Thank you to everyone for such a wonderful star, we cannot wait to come back x

After 2 nights at Roch Castle we moved to the lovely Penrhiw Priory and the standard of accommodation matched the castle

We were on our own as the location is not staffed in the evening and there were no other guests. A few doors wierdly opening made the night a little more interesting and enjoyable especially as it is around Halloween but we were assured that there is a member of staff that is around on occasion but we didn't see anyone so I prefer to think we were "not alone" 👻

The breakfast was brilliant and this was provided by staff who arrived about 8am

This a beautiful, characterful, historic property on the edge of St David’s in a quiet, tucked away spot yet within a short walk of the centre. It’s a peaceful retreat. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and well appointed.
It’s clear the property is an overspill from the main hotel so as such it lacks any atmosphere. It’s a dormitory. It appears staff are present to clean, maintain and cook breakfast, but otherwise you will barely see another person. It met our needs for our visit and we would recommend it, but would warn it lacks atmosphere.
Sadly our visit was curtailed due to a family emergency which meant we had to make a midnight dash home. We understood and fully accepted full payment would be needed - however we were somewhat disappointed to be charged full price (£50) for two breakfasts the following morning which we clearly did not have!
On this basis we would not return.

Thank you for your review, Penrhiw is now a self catering venue, due to the national shortage of hospitality staff availble to enable us to keep it open as a bed and breakfast, I am sorry to hear that we did not remove the cost of breakfast from your accommodation bill as this is our usual standard in such emergencies. Best wishes, Emma Bowen, General Manager.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Penrhiw Hotel and it continues to delight. It is located in incredibly beautiful and peaceful countryside just a few minutes walk from St David’s. Everything in the building and the rooms has been very carefully thought through including displays of some lovely artwork. We stayed in the Meadow Suite which included its own generously sized sitting room and a little patio area and garden outside. It made for a perfect place to relax after walking the coastal path nearby or swimming in Whitesands beach just two miles walk away. The staff were very welcoming, kind and helpful. We were sad to leave our little retreat but we will be back!

Lovely quiet setting. At times we thought we were the only people there. Easy walking into the city and good position to walk to coastal path (30min). Everything was clean and looked as if it was almost new. The Ravens room on the second floor was a great size and the calm music on entry set the atmosphere for this great stay.
Great continental breakfast and very helpful and friendly staff.
We would definitely go back and hopefully the sun will shine even longer!
Well done and thanks.
