Crug-Glas luxury country house is a mixed working farm of approximately 600 acres. We have dairy cows, beef and cereals and we consider ourselves to be a traditional family farm working alongside nature. We are about a mile inland from the coast and being so far west, situated on the end of St. Davids Peninsula, the sunsets in the evening are stunning. The sun going down behind Penberi rocks is absolutely breathtaking and has inspired many local artists. Crug-Glas has a great amount of history attached to it, in the 12th century the farm is mentioned in the Black Book of St. Davids. This book is an accurate account of many of the farms, manors and estates in the locality naming the owners and tenants of the time. Crug-Glas is reputed to have been one of the many seats (residences) of the Bishop of St. Davids. The farm remained in the hands of the Church for many centuries and it was eventually sold in the early 1900s.

We have just returned after spending 3 nights at Crug Glas. We stayed in the Coach House which had a fantastic shower and a huge and extremely comfortable bed. The weather was chilly and wet but the Coach House was cosy and welcoming.
The restaurant had to be closed for the first two nights because of a Covid alert but the owner went to a lot of trouble to get us dinner bookings elsewhere. Luckily the dining room was open again on our third night, the food was excellent and the service friendly and enjoyable. The hotel is in a wonderfully quiet location but close enough to walks and places of interest such as St David's.

We had a wonderful two nights stay at Crug Glas.
We arrived late afternoon and were immediately greeted by a friendly and helpful member of staff who showed us straight to our room.
We stayed in Room 4 – fantastically large with a really comfortable four poster bed and lovely clean, well-equipped en-suite bathroom.
We’d reserved a table for dinner on the first night and spent a while in the downstairs (honesty) bar before being shown to our table. All three courses were fabulous – in fact, so good, that we decided to eat in the dining room on the second night too.
We asked if there was any chance of a packed lunch for our long drive home on the Wednesday, and, sure enough, we were able to pick up sandwiches and scones straight after breakfast.
Although Crug Glas could rely on its fantastic location with breathtaking views, it does exactly the opposite. The owners and staff go out of their way to provide a friendly and inclusive experience which I’d love to repeat with a return visit.

We hosted our daughter and son in law’s wedding reception and evening party at Crug Glas this August 2021. After a delay from April, we were all delighted that hospitality restrictions had been lifted in time for their big day!
We cannot praise the staff at Crug Glas enough. From the first visit in December 2019, Sandra was a wonderful support and helped at every point and remained calm and positive throughout all the planning and then replanning! On the day Bethan, and owner Perkin with all the staff were exceptional. They ensured the proceedings went seamlessly and smoothly for us as hosts.
It is a stunning venue, and we were able to set up the day before with the support of our suppliers eg florist, chair hire. The room looked beautiful on the day, The Cow Shed as a venue was exactly what the happy couple wanted a stylish, yet simplistic charm for their wedding day. The weather was very kind and we welcomed the happy couple with a confetti tunnel outside and then enjoyed delicious canapés and fizz! Their attention to detail in respect of certain guests with dietary requirements was very much appreciated. The wedding breakfast was delicious! We had offered guests a choice of beef, sea bass or chicken and everyone was hugely complimentary. The evening party was a great success with the brilliant Soul Beat Band, and the staff were attentive and courteous throughout the day and evening.
We stayed at the venue on the night of the wedding as did some close family and friends. The rooms are all beautifully appointed, and we were then treated to a delicious breakfast, as we reminisced over the previous day’s proceedings.
We cannot thank you enough Perkin and Janet, the owners, Sandra, your manager, Bethan and all your staff, you have a truly wonderful venue and exceptional staff. It was the perfect day for the Happy Couple.

We arrived on a Sunday by bicycle at 5.30 to be greeted by Janet who kindly showed us where we could store our bikes . We were in room 4 which was beautiful so all was good .
We went to evening meal in the Cow Shed which was a large room with no intimacy or atmosphere but good social distancing .
The menu was not very inspiring and sounded like a Sunday roast menu with turkey , lamb and beef . There were two fish options and a vegetarian option .
Our starters were ok but nothing special. When the main meal arrived we were slightly perplexed at the presentation.
My wife ordered fillet of sea bass on a bed of red pepper and tomato . What arrived was a plate loaded high with roast dinner type veg , shredded cabbage , cauliflower , carrots ,green beans , roast potatoes and then the tomato's and pepper , one piece of fish was buried under the veg and a small piece basically dumped on top.I had the rump of lamb on the same over loaded plate of vegetables. The lamb was over cooked . We both felt we were having left over Sunday lunch .
We mentioned to the waiter how disappointed we were by the presentation. The couple next to us had also said something to the waiting on staff.
Towards the end of the meal Perkin, the owner, went to the couple on the table next to us and started asking what the couple had complained about . We could hear him getting quite cross, he then came to our table. He leant over my wife in a very aggressive manner, demanding to know what was wrong with the food . When we explained it was the presentation and Inappropriate use of roast dinner vegetables he got very defensive and rude saying how hurt and wounded he was .He then asked ‘was the food edible ‘? We said yes but it wasn’t enjoyable . We explained we were only giving feedback for him to reflect upon .
We spoke to the other couple later and we both felt upset at his rude behaviour and making us feel guilty for complaining !

Breakfast the next morning was served in the main house dining room ( lovely room , such a shame dinner wasn’t served there) , the lady serving was delightful and breakfast was most enjoyable .

On checkout Janet asked my wife if we had enjoyed our stay . She explained we had found the house and room beautiful and breakfast extremely good but the evening meal let them down . Janet asked in what way, so My wife explained once more that we felt we were eating left over Sunday lunch to which she did not deny! She suggested to Janet they could’ve presented the meal with Pembrokeshire new potatoes and seasonal asparagus, that would’ve made a lovely meal. I doubt however that they will be responsive to such feedback.
She offered us £5 off the bill . I wasn’t interested in having money off bill as we went there to enjoy ourselves and sadly the food and more so the owners response to feedback upset us, so we did not enjoy our stay.
We would not recommend Crug Glas .

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch. It was served in their wedding venue, the Cowshed which was big and airy but very sparkling. Beautiful home made local food. We had crab cake and delicious homemade tomato soup to start, followed by roast beef and sewin (sea trout) both of which were really tasty. For dessert er had the lightest sticky toffee pudding ever and beautifully sharp lemon posset.

Service was fab would definitely recommend

Stayed for two nights at the end of June 21, fantastic place to stay and definitely would recommend. We stayed in room two and had an excellent room with views across the fields and a luxurious copper bath.
Two chilled complimentary bottles of Prosecco were a lovely touch and the personal welcome we received was great.
Would definitely recommend booking a table in the restaurant for evening meal, food was of high quality and the choices were great, good professional service from the waiting staff.
Convenient place to stay to allow you to tour round and visit the surrounding towns and coastline, easily recommend St David’s, White sands beach, melin tregwynnt wooden mill. If you fancy take away, definitely visit Porthgain for chips at the Shed.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. Met by Molly we were shown to room 4 and told their was a complimentary drink chilling in the fridge. The room was superb, clean, tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, a good choice of well prepared food in a comfortable environment. Breakfast was also excellent, we opted for a selection of fresh fruit and berries with natural yoghurt followed by haddock and poached eggs. We will definitely return when we have the opportunity. Well done to all at this excellent country house hotel and restaurant.

We recently returned from 6 nights staying in the lovely Coach House. It was so peaceful we started relaxing straight away. The fabulously comfortable bed was superb. The spacious shower in the upstairs bathroom was really hot and very powerful. It was wonderful. The large downstairs bathroom has a fabulous spa bath with plenty of room for two.
The actual location is in the middle of the countryside with great views wherever you look.
The breakfast, served in the main house was beautifully cooked to order by the owner. It was a delight to look forward every day and was excellent. The friendly staff created a lovely atmosphere.
We dined in the Cowshed on four evenings. The food was absolutely delicious, every time. As previously mentioned by another reviewer, the sticky toffee pudding is to die for. Again the friendly staff made the occasion even more special.
Would really love to visit again in the near future and I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Exceptional standards in the rooms and food. Can’t fault anything, dinning in the cowshed dinning room was pleasing and very spacious. Stayed in room 5, very comfortable and relaxing. Shame about the wind and rain.
