We had a fantastic few days at Black Hall Lodges to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in one of the couples lodges which was lovely and very cosy. The lodges and the setting are beautiful. I think the day’s we went were fully booked but it was still very quiet. The lodges had everything you would need for your stay and included a lovely welcome pack of milk, coffee, tea, biscuits and popcorn.

Although owners are not always on-site they were very accessible. On our last night, our oven door shattered whilst cooking. The owners were contactable via WhatsApp and promptly arrived a dealt with the problem. We could not complain about the customer service we received.

The area is quite cut off in terms of phone signal (which was fine for us). Due to the location there are some limitations to the WiFi, we received 1gb of free WiFi and then if this was used you could pay for additional. This was plenty for our few days stay.

There is a lovely building with gym equipment, swimming pool and games room which can be accessed as part of your stay. We did spend some time in the games room which has a pool table, table tennis, table football (unfortunately the ball was missing from this), darts, soft play area and games for children. They also have sofas and a tv. When we went we had the place to ourselves. There are also DVDs to borrow which we thought was a nice touch.

The only suggestion I would have is perhaps some amendments to the road leading up to the couples lodge which was in quite poor condition for my little car but I appreciate we did visit in winter and this would not have helped the condition.

Overall a lovely relaxed break in a beautiful location and with great facilities!

My partner and I stayed at the Couples VIP lodge on the 4th September for 2 days and the location was beautiful! It was a little difficult to find but I didnt mind the drive as the views were amazing.

Before arriving, I read up on what changes had been made due to Covid. They mentioned taking the hair dryer away and tea/coffee. So I knew before going that I would have to take these which I didn't mind. For the price, I think sachets of tea/coffee would have been a nice touch but its only an extra £3 to get these on my way. However, the kitchen came with a dishwasher and you were supplied tablets and cleaning supplies, clothes and sponges so I thought sachets of tea and coffee wouldn't have been an issue.

We got to the lodge and it was beautiful! It was extremely clean and quiet. More than what I thought it would be. We had an hour in the evening playing pool in the games area and had a little stroll around whilst taking in the views. I can't fault the location!

The thing I was missing was kitchen supplies. I couldn't find any pans, kitchen foil etc and I think these would have been handy as I was restricted on what to cook.

I enjoyed the stay so much that on the drive back, I booked it again for valentines weekend.

We stayed in this lodge for 3 nights, it was beautifully clean when we arrived and has a lovely homely feel to it. The cabin has its own sauna and free standing bath in the bathroom, which in itself was clean and modern. The bedroom was lovely, enough storage space, big comfy double bed, pillows were a bit hard but still had a good sleep each night. The kitchen had everything you need to cook with, they do provide coffee and tea and sugars but remember to take oil and sauces and salt and pepper. The living room area has comfy sofas, big tv with DVD player and beautiful views from the window. Hot tub outside was amazing, they provide slippers and dressing gowns too. There is a communal pool, steam room and sauna alongside a room with a pool table, table tennis, darts and kids play area. They gave us each a free 1g of the WiFi which was enough for us to check our phones a few times in the 4 days, remember to save the data just turn your WiFi off and on and it saves it for when you really need to use it, as there is no signal at all there. Overall the stay was amazing it was so relaxing and peaceful, would definitely recommend to stay here, amazing price for what you get.

I was so looking forward to the few days at Blackhall Lodges. Lovely idyllic setting, just what the WHO ordered for social distancing.

Granted we had to pay £100 on our credit card for 'damage or disturbance' was laughable. We were tip toeing around everywhere to maintain the peaceful nature and not damage anything however....

For over £1000 the lodge was disappointing, I know they're trying to recoup costs from COVID-19 impact but overpriced, dya think?

It was dirty in places, worktop surfaces damaged and floor tiles nailed down in places with pieces missing and one smelly sofa, something has obviously died inside it or another guest has poured a carton of milk all over it as it stunk of sweaty feet. And the hot tub, EURGH, green bubbles appearing when the jets were on full, we stopped using it after the 2nd night as we didn't want to catch something. Hardly luxurious.

At the time of booking we read that we were unable to use the hot tubs after 9.30pm so as not to disturb the other residents, fair enough to maintain the peaceful setting, however surely it's not acceptable to be hypocritical and hold double standards to host a not-so-socially distanced party in the leisure complex with rowdy party guests shouting at 11pm onwards with music blurring out? We were close to the nature walk and still heard the music, goodness knows what the other residents must've thought?

Flies. I appreciate it is a farm location but Christ, they were everywhere. Swatters, spray and a zapper are provided, however all windows and doors must stay firmly shut otherwise you'd be over run.

The pool and leisure facilities are great though. We had many an enjoyable swim with just the two of us in the pool on all of the nights we booked.

Unfortunately we won't be visiting Blackhall again, it has the potential for great things however our disappointing experience has turned us off a return.

Easy to give 5 stars to this quaint but luxurious little getaway in Mid Wales, my girlfriend and I had a fantastic time in the Couples VIP lodge and found ourselves wanting to come back next year with family/friends on just the 2nd day. You can get the gist of most positive aspects of the park (which I wholeheartedly agree with) in other reviews, so i will try to concentrate mine on the good things I haven't seen mentioned as well as the very few negative aspects below:

Positive:

The kitchen has everything you could want for preparing any meal, from pots and pans, oven trays to lasagne dishes and a whisk etc. You may want to consider bringing your own larger plates though, as the ones provided for meals are more like side plates.

The WiFi has strong fast signal

The hot tub out the back is excellent, and addictive!

The lodge itself is warm, you could easily come here and be comfortable in the winter.

The surrounding area has a few lovely towns to visit and the lodge itself is easy accessible

Plenty of fridge space, freezer less so, and plenty of wardrobe space too for clothing.

The recreation area is great, with pool, foosball, table tennis, darts and a selection of DVD's available.

The lodge itself has great levels of privacy and comfort, we had others to our left and right but you really do feel like you're alone

Negative:

(These really are minor and had no ill effect on our trip)

The WiFi really should be free for what you pay to stay there

The hot tub itself, while excellent to use, has no instructions on how to use it. You have 4 buttons and you're left to work it out yourself, which we did fine, but often found that if you turn the temp down, it wouldn't come back up easily, and occasionally struggled to turn the actual tub off.

There is a very minor fly issue, it was normal to see about 2 at a time in the lodge, but this is reasonably explained as being near farm land and they really are no bother.

Understandable due to covid and the cleaning required to keep customers safe, but its disappointing that you can't check in until 4pm and that you have to be out by 9am

TIPS:

Nothing wrong with the lodge itself, but just a helpful tip, if you choose to go for a drive out of the lodge, if you go right, other than the excellent Radnorshire Arms pub, there is nothing for about 45 minutes.

There is no mobile phone signal at all, if you need to connect to the outside world you'll need to use the WIFI

All in all in was absolutely excellent and we cant wait to go back again or with friends and family, easily 5 stars.

We are a 3 generation family, staying in a Helsinki lodge, which we chose for the generous space, (as so many previously booked lodges with Hoseasons have had bedrooms the size of cupboards, apart from the master bedroom.) The lodge was well equipped with kitchen items and a good sized fridge freezer. We had a beautiful view, with sweet little week old calves running about the fields. The shower was very efficient and a large size. The hot tub was the largest we have experienced at similar lodges. The swimming pool must now be booked, 2 lodges per hour. We were able to get every booking we made and were also able to alter the time on the final day. The presence of the staff of the site is low key but efficient. The reception area sells a few food and cleaning items between 11 and 12 in the mornings, so unless you are on site all day, should not be relied on for supplies. Due to the weather, we did not take full advantage of the local amenities such as the play area, which was very wet, and the walks around the site. Some facilities were not available due to Covid 19 arrangements, but we thought we still had good value. The 1G per person WiFi is definitely insufficient. The teenager of our group used up 2G in less than a day. We ended up spending an additional £18. The WiFi quality was actually very good most of the time. Echoing another reviewer, we would have preferred to pay a bit extra for the stay rather than keep having to top up. This region is very beautiful with many places of interest and attractive small towns. We would definitely visit again.

I don’t often write reviews but there is no way I couldn’t leave a 5* review.

I can’t explain how fantastic blackhall lodges is. It really has surpassed any expectations I had we have left extremely happy and excited to return.

The scenery speaks for its self a truly stunning location which we have fully enjoyed exploring.

firstly, I’d like to comment on how clean the lodges, communal areas, swimming pool ect are. The level of cleanliness was fantastic. The hot tubs are drained and cleaned for every new visitor and we witnessed hot tubs being cleaned out.

We stayed in the Ontario lodge three bedroom, 2 bathroom. The accommodation was very impressive lots of space with three large bedrooms, the beds; bedding and furniture were high quaility. The kitchen had great quiality items and was very well stocked with utilities I was actually really taken back by how much there was I joked to my husband that I could have made a christmas dinner! The attention to detail and small extras were a great touch all the esstinals were there including dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, toilet roll ect enough for a few days at least which Iv never had before in this type of accommodation. The hot tub was massive and the best one Iv seen in any holiday location and the views from the hot tub was stunning!

Having a very small child you don’t pack light but I was over the moon to see a decent travel cot, childs bedding’s and a high chair! There is a top of the range smart tv with access to all the smart apps that you can log into which was great for movie nights. There was also a bluetooth speaker for music.

Communal areas are great, swimming pool is a little cool but fine once you get moving. The games room is fantastic and suitable for all ages even a soft play. Lots of games and dvds to lend! There is a park for the children which was good quaility and a play shed with ride on tractors which my son loved!

There is not a high staff presence which I like as it’s like home from home, they were easy accessible if needed and extremely friendly, my little boy loved waving and saying hello to all the staff who were extremely lovley to him!

We had the most amazing time thank you blackhall lodges. IWe will be back sometime again this year!

We stayed at the lodges at the end of January, and had a lovely experience at Blackhall.

Our lodge had a hot tub, sauna, amazing views, a log burner, clean facilities and enough equipment to enable you to cook (pots, pans, etc).

The on-site facilities were lovely - swimming pool was spacious and clean, with a steam room and sauna in too - so relaxing!

There was also a games room with plenty of actitivies to pass the time (if you had any to spare). Did not see the staff much (we had no reason to) but they were friendly and helpful when checking in.

Overall it was a lovely weekend and I would highly recommend these lodges to anybody, whether that’s a family or a couple, it really caters to everybody.

A small collection of wooden lodges set in a small valley with gorgeous surroundings . The accommodation was fully stocked for all our needs and we were able to arrange a grocery delivery to the site rather than have to trek out to the local shops. The hot tub was wonderful and was set on a wide deck with ample outside seating. Whilst we chose not to use the communal facilities during our stay this was not due to any concern about lack of sanitization. In fact both the accommodation and the site as a whole was cleaned to a very high standard. We witnessed the outside areas including the play areas being regularly cleaned during our 4 night stay

We stayed in the couple's VIP lodges which had hot tub as well as sauna which was a really nice touch. The specification of the lodge was really good and everything was clean and tidy.

Our lodge was on the end so we were very private with nobody other than sheep in the top field overlooking us.

In fairness we did not use the pool but we did go into the leisure suite which again appeared clean and tidy.

There are some good local walks and we walked to the nearby Castle Inn for Sunday lunch. A nice locally run pub which was well priced.

The couple's lodges are at the end of quite a steep incline which is shingle tracked with some potholes. We bounced down a couple in the car so carr is needed.

My only negative was the 1gb of internet data which you were allowed before having to pay. Most people want unlimited data (as they get at home.) I would have rather paid £10 more for the holiday and had it included.
