We don't get to go out on a Sunday lunch very often and when we do we always find ourselves disappointed. On this occasion we booked here on a whim, very last minute. We'd been to a wedding here quite a few years ago (this is how we knew it exisited) and decided to give it a go despite it being quite a trek for us. We are glad we did! It was quite quiet, the service was good, but the roast dinner was well cooked and really tasty. We had pannacotta for dessert which was nice, my only criticism would be the passionfruit sorbet, albeit delicious, was too intense with the softness of the vanilla pannacotta, it was very over powering. This is only a minor issue though and would definitely not stop us returning!

Such a charming hotel, we stayed in a spacious suite for the weekend, lovely large room with comfy bed & all the usual luxuries, food was exceptional, we had breakfast & dinner both days & it was excellent, great chef. The hotel is all decorated for Xmas & looks soo festive, we even went for a frosty walk around the grounds & then came back for a hot chocolate by the open fire, hotel is delightful, welcoming & cozy all the staff are lovely & helpful I was kind of hoping we would get snowed in & have to stay longer really ! Bigger lit up sign needed out the front thou because you will never find it in the dark & maybe a patio heater on the terrace outside for my cigar smoking husband ! We will definitely be back, 5 stars thank you for a wonderful stay

No wonder Lake Country House Hotel has so many positive reviews. From the first contact in booking the Sparkling Lake Package directly with the reception team, I was sure this would be wonderful experience for my partners birthday & it didn't disappoint. Staff are absolutely lovely, extremely helpful, I could go on & on - what a great team. The Spa therapists are exceptional and deserve a special mention. Our treatments were simply fabulous, their care, expertise & knowledge was first class. Highly recommend. The Suite we stayed in was beautiful, spotlessly clean & the bed so comfortable. We took our 2 dogs and there was plenty of space, it really enhanced our stay, so thank you for the upgrade. We walked the grounds which are stunning & well maintained, a beautiful autumnal stroll. The dining experience was very good, service was fabulous & the food was delicious, we were both blown away by the amuse bouche, starters were again excellent. I had the Cod which was cooked to perfection. The braised beef was full of flavour. Breakfast was also brilliant & Chef went above & beyond to cook my egg as requested. We had a great stay & we will return. This hotel has many positive reviews and truly deserves them. I will certainly be recommending it to friends & family. We hope to stay again in the New Year. I hope this review is shared with your team because they need to know what an amazing job they are all doing ensuring that the guest experience is truly fantastic from booking right through to check out.

What a fantastic place! We went for my husband’s birthday and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The staff were all friendly and obviously happy in their jobs - we could see why. The room was wonderful - spotlessly clean and had everything we could want for our stay. The food was excellent and we enjoyed everything we ate there. Had a lovely swim, sauna and jacuzzi at the spa, which was fab and a walk around the beautiful lake, which was so lovely. We met the owner, who is quite a character and obviously takes great interest in what is going on and likes to get involved. Thank you Lake County House for a wonderful experience that left us feeling so ‘warm and fuzzy’ 🥰

My third visit and I still cannot fault it. Walk through the door and instantly relax. The rooms, the staff, lounge, the food, the spa, everything is just so lovely. Being greeted by name is a treat! Will be back in the New Year - we try and make it twice a year. If you are looking for a short recharge break away, a Mini Moon (like we did) then you certainly cannot go wrong here.

We really enjoyable our 3 night stay at this lovely hotel! Set in acres of beautiful parkland and with a gorgeous spa in the grounds, it was the perfect place for a relaxing break. Our suite was spacious and comfortable, the a la carte dinner menu and breakfast choices were excellent and the friendly and efficient staff were an absolute delight. We will definitely be visiting this delightful hotel again!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable birthday stay, no doubt helped by the glorious weather. Just to deal first with the minor gripes: - The hotel describes itself as dog friendly. If you are not that fond of dogs, this might be an issue. Although we asked for a dog free room- which I assume we got- we had two very yappy dogs below us and one (non yappy) next door. At first, the yappy dogs yapped a lot, because the owners left them alone in their room. We feared for our overnight sleep, but as it turned out, it was quiet (not sure of these people below us left in the evening). On another occasion, a dog off the lead startled my wife as she was opening the room. We are reasonably used to dogs, so no major issue, but maybe one does need to be mindful if you are not. I guess you can't please all people all the time.. - The food was good but I think the £55 created an expectation that wasn't quite met. Our mains also came out lukewarm. To be fair, mine was quickly replaced and compensated by a free half bottle of wine. The house wines were high quality. Otherwise, the rooms (Lodge suite) are spacious and comfortable. The hotel is quite old fashioned in decor but in a good way if you like that kind of ambiance. The grounds are very lovely. There is a lake but also a riverside walk along the River Wye, within the hotel's ground. It's gets a little muddy in the wet, but worth doing. But the final word is for the staff, so important for a good hotel. They were exceptional, professional and friendly. I think this helps create the nice ambiance. It is also, these days, not so easy to achieve so kudos to the General Manager for doing so.

We were upgraded to a suite as we'd booked late check out. It was superb with the hugest comfy bed. The staff were all friendly and attentive and catered for my dietary requirements diligently. Definitely order a cream tea - gluten free scones freshly baked and warm. We were not there long enough to take advantage of the many leisure options or to explore the beautiful countryside. The spa was good with a hot tub on a deck overlooking the lake. Staying in a 4* hotel was a first for us and worth pushing the boat out for a special weekend. We would definitely go back and would like to stay longer.

This is just such a nice place to stay in a fab part of the country, they also put up with land rovers and mud (don’t worry they have a car park out the back where we hide them) and 4 off us in the group and it’s in a great location for a base for green laneing. The food is excellent and the service great, rooms are spacious and well presented. One day I will visit and just laze around in the lounge drinking tea ..... If your thinking of booking … then just book ….
