Something happens to you as you drive down the long drive through the ancient woodland that leads to Redwood Valley. Your shoulders drop, your breath becomes deeper and you actually feel like you have landed on another (calmer) planet. We had arrived for three days yoga and relaxation and I could not have been more excited but was a little unsure what to expect. We were greeted with warm drinks, warm smiles and the first of many excellent healthy but delicious treats for tea. Yoga in the woodland clearing followed as Emma gradually eased us into a really excellent, personal journey into Ashtanga Primary Series. From there it all flows into one, early morning and late evening meditation in the light of dawn and by the glowing firepit. Yoga sessions which were challenging but sensitively crafted and have sparked my personal practice onto another level. Emma is wise, talented and good company. She brings humour and grace to her sessions and made us all feel completely at ease. But she didn’t let us go away without learning and growing. The accommodation is comfortable, peaceful and full of the little details that make it such a special place. Our woodland cabin was perfect and there was plenty of time in the schedule to enjoy a book on the balcony watching the tiny river or the trees. There was plentiful , delicious and thoughtful food all expertly cooked by Tamsin. I felt nourished in body and soul. I am already booking for the next retreat!…
A wonderful place to relax and unwind ; for peace and quiet and even isolation if you so choose ; but the needs of 'civilisation' always available in nearby Presteigne, a quiet, interesting and welcoming place. The yurts are very comfortable; the woodland kitchen fabulous. Management of the first order.
We booked the 2 Yurts with another family for 2 nights. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It's such an idyllic place set in secluded and beautiful landscape. The yurts were so cosy and comfortable with lots of room for a family of 5. We used the log burners which were very efficient at warming the yurts on a cool November evening! The facilities were clean and well thought through. The kitchen was well kitted out with everything we could possibly need. On arrival David welcomed us and showed us around. He topped the wood up throughout our stay and provided clean tea towels/hand towels each day. I cannot fault our stay here, thank you very much!!
We booked this trip for a little treat for ourselves to celebrate our 50th birthdays. We wanted to get away from it all, and having a couple of days just to ourselves. We regularly go camping, but had never experienced anything like this before, and fancied a but of outdoor luxury. We booked 2 nights in the woodland cabin and were not disappointed! We were met on arrival by lovely David, who showed us around the main facilities of the woodland kitchen, shower and composting toilets. The whole experience was amazing. It was like we were submerged in nature in the woodland. The whole site felt very secluded. We had everything to hand and could not of asked for anything better. Even the weather was kind, with gorgeous autumnal sunshine and misty mornings. Just wonderful. I would fully recommend this site for families and couples alike. Children can just be free in the meadows and explore the woods and stream. Make sure you go exploring and find the 'tree swing' - it felt like I was flying!! I especially loved the little hammocks dotted around and tried to have a rekaxing swing in all of them. We had a great covered barbecue area just outside the cabin which looked amazing, but we didn't use it as it was a bit cold in the evening and we preferred to just light our beautiful log fire in the cabin and have a glass of wine! All in all we could not fault a thing and cant wait to go back next spring so we can try the barbecue and hug the giant redwood tree in the meadow again! Five stars to David who has made a little bit of heaven for us to enjoy. Thankyou for a lovely experience and see you again next year!! Jane & Charlie x…
Lesley booked this trip for me as a surprise after spending days checking site after site only to find that most locations have gone too far on the commercial opportunity ( 20 plus treehouses etc). Redwood Valley is more of a specialised retreat focused on getting the experience right for you but with equal focus they ensure the human footprint is kept to an absolute minimum. David greeted us with such enthusiasm and you can clearly see this is so much more to him than a business. He cares deeply for the forest and all of the wildlife as much as his guests and that is a great deal let me tell you! The cabin is so perfect you need to experience it! Secluded, well equipped, warm with the Log Burner in coldest October - a real slice of paradise in my humble opinion! The field kitchen is so unique - we would venture down there to cook breakfast and tea and that as an experience in itself was amazing! The compost Loo's, the shower, the dining area with scrabble, chess etc gives you quality family time but at the same time you are outside seeing all that nature has to offer. We wandered into the local village which was lovely but we spent most of our in the cabin on the balcony drinking tea and chatting or pottering around taking some photos as attached! Thank you to David once again for having the vision of what Redwood Valley would look like when they purchased it years ago. Its my new favourite outdoor place to stay without question. Two yurts and one cabin in that beautiful location means peace, tranquility and relaxation are guaranteed. Thank you and see you for my 50th. Mark and Lesley X…
